No Time to Die (2021) - Full Reaction

Pretty sure this has been said in the comments... but yeah, Daniel Craig only agreed to do a 5th Bond movie on the condition that he could die at the end. I thought it was done brilliantly, but yes heartbreaking.

Kit Taylor

Go away.

Kit Taylor

Oh get over yourself.

Patrick Egan

I don't understand the anger some have towards the movie. 007 (James) retired, so they promoted another agent to the rank of 007 to fill the void. It was a woman. It's not like they cast her as" Jamie (but my friends call me James) Bond". A woman shouldn't / couldn't be cast as James Bond because that's his NAME. But another 007 agent? She was a side character in the movie , did a good job, so I don't have a problem with it. As for the ending, Craig's Bond wasn't the usual soft, pretty boy 007 of the past ( Brosnan ..ugh ). He came into the franchise like a beast and ended his run with a blast. Live fast die hard. At least the studios didn't "Star Wars him" by completely destroying everything about the character before killing him off. Daniel Craig went out on a high point, so... yay I guess. Number 3 in my Craig Bond ratings.

FischerMax98

My exact ranking.

Stick Figure Studios

The fact of the matter is Producer Barbara Broccoli is a woke sell-out! Her father would be ashamed of her!!!!!!!!!!!!

rick monteverdi

im sorry ive been a fan for a long time but this movie is not good. not even a little bit good. the only good part is the ana de armas part and this isnt what it should have beenl

ryan sims

This is probably the 3rd Best Daniel Craig Bond movie. Casino Royale > Skyfall > No Time To Day > Spectre > Quantum of Solace.

granny_goodness

I think its the best Daniel Craig Bond movie because it has a lot more humor, Daniel Craig gives it his all, the amazing soundtrack… but that damn ending. I hate it. I think it’s a terrible way to end the Craig series. But the rest of the movie, so good…

Avastrasza

Perhaps, in my humble opinion, the best of the Daniel Craig Bond series is the first, Casino Royale, and the last one. Vesper will forever be my favorite Bond heroine. Also, as the final scene ends, we hear Louis Armstrong sing a former bond song again and it really solidifies the end of an era. Cheers to you Mr. Craig. And as always, my sincere appreciation to Cassie and Carly.

Matt Mabry

+1 for Layer Cake!

Robert da Spruce

I was kind of dreading this reaction since you said you guys would be watching all of Daniel’s Bond films. The whole Daniel Craig Bond series was so well done. But such a sad way to end the series. 😭

Robert da Spruce

Because Cassie watches the premieres, she had to suspect something was going to happen given all the knowing tells Carly gave us in the last Bond reaction.

Brian McGovern

Another what? Bond movie? You don't think much of them?

Brian McGovern

Hearing the name of the girl "Mathilde" I kept thi king of another great movie for a reaction, but I think the relationship in "that" movie, particularly the extended version is perhaps a little too unsettling for the girls and will colour their opinion of the movie. I am sure most people who read this comment will know EXACTLY which movie I am referring to. I think Cassie has a copy of it.

Brian McGovern

Gotta give Props to John Barry.

Larry Darrell

A classic reaction. I’ve been waiting for these last 2 Bonds to get your finale reaction. I grew up in the Brosnan era, so I have a soft for his Movies. But Daniel Craig was a special Bond. You can’t not watch ‘Layer Cake’ now, it’s the movie that got him the Bond Gig. It’s a great ending because it wipes the slate clean for the next Actor to do whatever he wants with the character. No hangovers from the consequences of this movie. He won’t be dead, but he’ll wash up on some beach somewhere and live a life like Jason Bourne.

Biggman83

"How do they get jobs here?" "Right, who wants to work here?" Reminds me of Iron Man 3. Tony points a weapon at a guy and the guy puts his hands up and says, "Honestly? I hate working here, they are so weird." Now, if you want to redo the ending in your head, here's the easy way. The virus in his blood that won't let him touch the girls is nanobots, which are tiny electrical robots. His watch has an EMP (Electro-magnetic pulse) that theoretically kills all electronics in the area (though, plot hole, it apparently didn't kill his ear piece after he killed cyclops). He could have hidden somewhere deep in the bunker to survive the missiles, then EMP'd the robots in his blood. Bingo bango, happy life with Madeleine and Mathilde. But the emotional and historic impact of killing Bond when he had found the possibility of a happy ending was just too tempting, I guess.

Ian from wine country

I, too, was left speechless after watching this. I was concerned that the next Bond villain could adapt this weapon to infect the DNA of YouTube reactors who are tender. And charming. And who haven’t watched The Court Jester ((c) 1955, starring Danny Kaye). But then I relaxed once I realized that, unlike James Bond, there is an antidote for C & C - they could watch The Court Jester ((c) 1955, starring Danny Kaye). Then they would no longer have the DNA of someone who hasn’t seen that movie. And PiB would be saved. C & C - I think you can just take for granted that ALL of your patrons agree and that this is now your most requested movie. Do it for you and for us. And for Madeleine and Mathilde.

2-Can

I kept looking for a little trickle of blood trailing from the corner of her mouth from biting her tongue so hard. She was a champ!

2-Can

It was a great movie until it wasn't. It would have been great if they hadn't messed up the ending. So it ended up being a disappointment. But, great reactions, Ladies.

Rick Williams

"I also didn’t like how every story had some sort of personal connection to Bond." Goldeneye did it right.

Grad

I joined Patreon specifically for this Bond/Craig series reaction, and wasn’t disappointed! It was great to experience this series again with you; your emotional reactions matched mine. Carly had such a great poker face to not spoil the ending! During the reunion scene when Cassie threw her hair tie, I laughed through my tears ;) Such a tragic but amazing film, it’s even better on the rewatch to catch all the little things missed the first time. Thank you Carly and Cassie; I’ll continue to be a Patreon supporter!

Lisa

I love hearing other views, and agree in the sense of being earned from an emotional standpoint. But it isn't earned in the sense of plot logic. Nanobots being eternal, was too drummed home that it's eternal and that's it. Couldn't Q at least have a pop at trying to invent a countermeasure and Bond simply wait it out for a year or two, surely that possibility of that chance of being with his family is worth a try?? The timescale of there being a time scale on missiles being launched ASAP, suppose if M applied some diplomacy with Russia and Japan to explain the truth of the threat would buy Bond some time to escape. Bond died in that sense just to save M's skin, which considering he berates him and shows little respect for most of the film seems inconsistent. And the villain is given little explanation on why he would want to infect Bond in the first place with the Nanobots, it doesn't seem he's even that aware he exists before that last 45 mins of the film. The plot just seemed hellbent to get to the point of James Bonds death, but left too many plot holes to get there. Which for me was unearned.

William Edwards

Yes when Bond and M meet outside by the river (I assume the Thames) you can hear the On Her Majesty's Secret Service title theme playing.

Mike LL

This was an unforgettable reaction from both of you. Absolutely the best. This is why I subscribe to the highest tier. It was an honor to experience all the Daniel Craig Bond films with you guys. No requests from me this time. Just a thank you.

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

It isn't clear how much involvement Phoebe Waller Bridge had with this script in particular, but I do think that the reason why Bond was more sparkly in this one is down to her rewrite. Also some of the romantic dialogue was probably down to her too. She probably tweaked the dialogue on the women a bit, but the more I watch the film, the more I think that she also tweaked Bond's dialogue. Craig is having more fun in this movie then he had in the past, and I think that's her.

Caomhan84

I keep hearing people say that this "didn't feel earned".... And respectfully, that's nonsense. This was absolutely earned. Daniel Craig's whole character arc as Bond was about trusting, being betrayed, and losing those he cared about. He spent years feeling guilt about vesper, and in this movie he asked her to forgive him. After the beginning of the movie and he left Madeline, again. He feels guilty once he finds out that she had nothing to do with betraying him. And after 5 years when he discovers that he has a child, and a chance to live with a family, it's tragic that The job that he has chosen, that he keeps being pulled back into, ends up denying him the chance to have that happiness. But he does die protecting his family. He gets a few moments of happiness and a final moment of solace, knowing that they are protected. It is absolutely, 100% earned. People who think that it isn't are just all up in their feelings. Sorry.

Caomhan84

Honestly, I think before you get Cassie into those types of Indian movies (which are pretty bad, let's be honest)... I think it's smarter to start her with basic romantic films. It's the type of thing she likes, and it would dip her toes into Indian cinema. Cinema. I still think that starting her out with RRR was wrong. There are a million romantic comedies that she would enjoy before something like RRR or the Yash Raj spy universe. Band Baaja Baaraat is RIGHT up her alley, for example. As is Mere Brother ki Dulhan or Rab Ne Bana di Jodi. Start small, like this and then build to other stuff.

Caomhan84

I loved what Hans Zimmer did with the music in this film. I heard John Williams is in talks to be the next film's composer!!!

ROBERT CLARK

they actually get happy endings then Ethan Hunt & Bond.

Ahmad Zain

Loved the reaction, Cassie, After Bond Films, there are other spy action movies you can watch. You would love the Yash Raj Spy Universe it's an Indian shared universe centered on a series of spy action films, which feature various fictional RAW agents, start it by watching Ek Tha Tiger(2012) Featuring Salman Khan, and the sequel to it Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) these movies feature more fun romance and action trills side by side and the next 2 are spin-off which makes it a larger spy story with War featuring Hrithik Roshan this one is very much like a high-stake mission impossible ride with a face-off twist. Pathaan is a comeback story of a beloved Indian Movie star Shah Rukh Khan after 4-year hiatus. If you have followed the actor it's very meta and you'll want to explore his Romantic films after this. So please watch them with Carly you'll have an incredible journey.

Ahmad Zain

John Barry's score for On Her Majesty's Secret Service, can be heard throughout the Film, as well.

Larry Darrell

You Girls missed every Cue and Reference to On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969). Oh Well. I had hopes, but they weren't high. At the time Ya'll watched On Her Majesty's Secret Service with George Lazenby, it was only the 3rd Classic Bond Film, for Carly, and 3rd Overall James Bond Film for Cassie. Ya'll thought you knew who James Bond was after only 2 Sean Connery Films, but then was thrown a curveball with the 3rd. Ya'll were distraught over the ending of No Time to Die, just as Ya'll were distraught over the ending of On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Now that Ya'll know more of who James Bond is and what he is capable of, Emotion wise, it would Behoove the Two of You, to go back and Re-Watch On Her Majesty's Secret Service. This Film influenced No Time to Die heavily. In My Opinion, No Time to Die loses a Big Part of it's Emotional Impact without being able to Remember On Her Majesty's Secret Service, as well as the other Classic Bond Films. Now I do Hope that Ya'll or just You Cassie, do Return to the Classic Bond Films. I feel like Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, and even Pierce Brosnan, didn't get a Good Chance to imprint themselves upon You Two. I know Ya'll saw all of Lazenby's and Dalton's, but without seeing All of the Previous Films which came before, Their Films were seen Out of Context. I may be the only one who sees it, but there is a Story being told in the Original 16 Films. It all started with Dr. No (1962). A Lot of James Bond's character traits that run all the way through to No Time to Die, are First Seen Here. Cassie said in the Outro, "I don't think I've understood One Villain's Plot." This is not really a problem. The James Bond Films are Not about the Villains and their Plot to take over the world. Each Film has a "Bond" Villain, with some Evil Plan to do Something Evil in the World. There is also a "Bond" Girl who teams up with James Bond to either Help or Hinder his mission to stop the Evil "Bond" Villain. Each "Bond" Villain & Girl have an Effect on James Bond. All of the Films tell a Continuing Story of the Same Man, One Man, named James Bond. The Mission to stop an evil plot in each Film is really just a setting, the same as a Location such as Jamaica, Kentucky, Venice or Switzerland. The Trials, Tribulations and Romances that James Bond experiences, are what are Most Important to Remember. To End, here is the Greatest Bond Song Ever from On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) & No Time to Die (2021), which also happens to be One of the Most Romantic Songs Ever, in my opinion. "We Have All the Time in the World" sung by Louis Armstrong composed by John Barry lyrics by Hal David https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgVWFdDnSXQ

Larry Darrell

I'm not the type that usually cries at movies, but in theaters this one got me. I think it was just the unfairness of the ending, which to me was superb but still heartbreaking. This broken man goes several movies just wanting to find a connection to something real after it's been snatched away so many times to ultimately have it taken from him in such a fashion that dying would be a better alternative to living in a world where he can't be with his loved ones great reaction gals.

LuMarq

I finally see this notification at midnight and have to golf at 7:18 in the morning. Most people would just go to sleep and watch this tomorrow. But most people would be wrong...I'll be thinking of you two when I bogey the first few holes lol.

Erik Daniel

It’s interesting that Daniel Craig is Carly’s favorite Bond. I remember when it was announced that he would be taking over the role from Pierce Brosnan and a lot of people were upset and didn’t think he was right for the role. With his blonde hair and blue eyes he didn’t look like “Bond” and over the course of his movies, he’s dressed more casually and was more rugged and not as suave as previous Bonds and I think some fans of the previous Bonds had a hard time accepting DC and some people will never accept him. It was definitely different for me the first time I saw Casino Royale, but I learned to really like DC.

Tara

So the final Bond movie is my first full with you ladies. Could not have been a better beginning. Looking forward to more adventures to come. Cassie, you had me a little worried there when you stepped away. Luckily you made it just in time for the best part. LOL Take care of yourselves, C & C

Billy Dancel

Just a few facts about this movie in general. Bond Dying was actually Daniel Craig's idea. He asked Barbara Broccoli way back when he was first cast on Casino Royale if Bond could die and she agreed. Many parts of the movie are an homage to On Her Majesty's Secret Service. From the line "We have all the time in the world" which George Lazenby says to his wife after she is killed to the song of the same name being played at the end and to the black Aston Martin that he drives which was the same model as George Lazenby's. I think I cried more this time than I did when I saw it in theaters. One reaction that surprised me this time though was how much it broke my heart to see Mathilde in peril. I don't even have kids and kid stuff in movies usually doesn't bother me but this time it did. Reckon I'll unpack that at some point.

Steve Sanders

This is the first time I've watched it since at the theater. I was pissed off the whole car ride home about the ending. Not that there isn't a way James Bond could die (as a massive bond fan I'm always open to that possibility in a creative sense). But done this way didn't feel earned. It was like Daniel Craig insisted to the producers that he should die in his final one. And the writers were forced to write the movie backwards from that point. It is especially disappointing as the first half of the movie is fantastic and had the potential to be one of the great bond films. Bond films are pure escapism cinema, but Bond making his daughter breakfast and waiting for her response like he's on an episode of Masterchef is not a patch on taking of a swimsuit with a tuxedo underneath, for me anyway. But great reaction guys, you did sell me abit more of the emotion to the climax, good work.

William Edwards

lol..i laughed out loud at the end when Cassie said "can they do that? can they kill James Bond" Yep....rough ending

Alex

And Bond dying stupidly at the end.

Benjamin Gerrald

Zero chemistry... For you, maybe, but for so many people, including C & C, they definitely saw chemistry, can you not acknowledge that even? Like, "I saw it worked for you, but it didn't work for me..." Maybe?

Jon Johns

I agree. I guess I understand why some dislike it, but I love all 5 of these. Like Carly, he is *my* James bond, forever and always. As the rumor mill continues to spin out all sorts of crazy ideas, I believe Phoebe Waller-Bridges involvement in future Bond films might bring back a happy-go-lucky tongue-in-cheek bond that might please the Roger Moore fans? I don't know, sometimes I don't think anyone can be pleased 😂

Jon Johns

The only problem with the movie is that Rami Malek is a weak villain. He's good Robot, but not a compelling bad guy.

granny_goodness

Paloma had 3 weeks of training?! She literally stole the limelight. Almost wanted to visit Cuba after she did her triple split kill

Russell Teo

ENCORE ... I still say watch Thunderball. It was such a classic Bond.

Richard Bourne

Daniel Craig was himself a reboot of Bond. This is new, with Bond dying, but the prior Bond actors and any references to them was largely removed. I don't see why they can't start over with a new James Bond. Before this came out there was speculation the new 007, Lashana Lynch, would take over. I don't see a female Bond working as so much of the fan base will be ticked off, even she is a womanizer. Seems like either reboot it, or end it and go on to something else, but without James Bond.

Richard Bourne

Not my favorite Bond movie, by a long shot. (Ana De Armas was really the only part I actively enjoyed.) I suggest watching some classic Bond as a pallet cleanser.

Mr Trick

The fallout from 'The Sound of Freedom' has stirred things up in Hollywood..

Celeste McAllister

This part was so tender and heartbreaking all at the same time!!

Carly Popcorn

Having seen this movie now the second time, and knowing what to expect, I did like it better. It is indeed well made, and I actually quite enjoy the first half of it until around the time Bond returns to London. Until then the story is building up very nicely reaching its peak during the Cuba sequence, where Ana de Armas was able to steal the show in just a couple of minutes. However, I still have some issues with the second half, where the pace slows down, and Safin becomes less intimidating and more confusing and just creepy instead of that menacing character they start with. I don't get what he wants or why he does what he does beyond his revenge on SPECTRE and I think it is a flaw in the writing. There are still some great moments, especially when Bond catches up with Madeleine and encounters Mathilde, but also some implausible and distracting ones. The reaction was really great and even more emotional than I was expecting. That first couple of minutes might have put some October movies to shame. I would nominate the first jump scare for the poppies award next year. 😉 Cassie, you asked where you might know Billy Magnussen, who played Logan Ash. I think it might be GAME NIGHT, which is marked as watched. He played a hilarious and memorable supporting character in that movie. Fun fact that Jeffrey Wright (Felix) also has a supporting role.

Gábor Árki

Seriously.

Stick Figure Studios

Remember Ladies... James never got to know his daughter, but it only took him a moment to love her. That was the finest moment of his otherwise somewhat tragic life. All of his trials and tribulations led to that moment at the end, as he watched the missiles arrive. Madelaine said "She does have your eyes." and James said "I know... (smiling)... I know."

Richard Rolen

I think Carly deserves a prize for keeping quiet about the ending for so long. So many hilarious facial expression last bond movie reaction when she had to keep quiet about how this one would end.

rakesh

My words are disappointing and disillusioned.

Rick Williams

Plenty of other 00 numbers.

rakesh

Spot on about ana de ammas didn't even realise it was the same girl til later. Absolutely stunning in that dress. A pity she wasn't in the movie for longer

rakesh

. . . and months ago, Cassie was finished with Mission: Impossible and she thought "All right guys, I'll watch some James Bond movies since you want me to so much." And now here we are with THIS reaction! 😂😂😂 Didn't expect THAT with the James Bond series, did you? I had the same experience with this movie that I had with SPECTRE, I enjoyed it more watching it with the sisters than I ever had by myself. And with this reaction here, I never had the overwhelming emotional reaction that Cassie had. Just a beautiful, heartfelt reaction.

Mike LL

I was always curious about how Cassie would react to this ending.

ROBERT CLARK

Fear not! For Amazon is only the publisher or does the distribution, the rights about creating more movies still lie with EON ever since the franchise started. It's a family business, they won't sell the goose with the golden eggs that easily. They just wanted to do something different at Daniels own request for this movie, and with MGM being in financial problems for over a decade they wanted to secure their future in the world of streaming through Amazon.

davidov

Please bring back Paloma for future films or at least Ana De Armas.

ROBERT CLARK

It did have Cassie and Carly in tears.

alexray

SPOILER BOND JOKE 1 2 3 . . . I guess He found the Time. . . . 3 2 1 SPOILER DAD JOKE

Larry Darrell

The Daniel Craig era is really excellent, a great actor, and he was lucky to have some great writers and directors (except the last one). Pierce Brosnan has not been so lucky. On the other hand, having James Bond die at the end was a bold move... What was the point? Bond could turn the page, as he already proved in Casino Royal. This movie was affected by stupid movements in Hollywood and the movie industry! Now that Amazon owns the franchise, I fear the worst... Cassie, I know you asked, all the Bonds are interesting to watch, they're not on the same level as the last ones, but they're fun!

Grégory Gautier

Lea Seydoux is one of the most beautiful women on the planet but she and DC have zero chemistry. The ending should have had us in floods of tears, but I was just like 'ok then'.

Odd Thomas

OK, so this is spoilery. If you haven't seen the film, don't read my post. I'm ok with how this film ends because Bond is a man of purpose and action, along with being an operative for a country. Bond should not get to retire to some sort of casual life...that's a waste of ability and talent. He should die doing his job. He should get the privilege of dying a noble death in service to his country. This film gives him that noble death. Considering that the Craig run of films is a second continuity (Connery through Brosnan was one continuity that never ended), giving Bond a death closes the loop and gives the Craig continuity a beginning (CR) and an ending (NTTD). For me, it works. Objectively, I also think that NTTD is an extremely well made film. The direction is excellent and the acting is solid across the board. The mistakes of SPECTRE (of which I am not a fan) are smoothed over a great deal here. I still don't think that Craig and Seydoux have chemistry but they work better in this film. Nice reaction, ladies.

Matt Rose

I agree with you that the last two songs were bad. They did not fit the Bond vibe and energy.

Bek Yuldashev

Yes it was definitely a stunt they can only pull off once every so many decades, but I disagree on "how stuck they are". Let's face it; 60+ years, 25 movies, 6 actors, if any franchise had experience in reinventing themselves and adapting to the times, it's this one. The current situation doesn't differ that much from the one in 1969; Bond's wife died, Bond himself retired, and the recently hired actor immediately quit after the first movie; people thought the franchise had it's run and was done for. Little did they knew it was only the beginning, and 50 more years of Bond movies would follow. I'm extremely curious though which direction they will go next. Will they go for a younger Bond that just started or will they go for a more experienced and older Bond? Will he be continuing the darker course that started with Dalton, or will they dare to go back to more humorous movies like the ones with Moore for which the franchise got a lot of ridicule in the 80's and 90's. Do they want to compete with Mission Impossible style of action movies, or do they prefer to dive more into the espionage from the old days or nowadays? The options are endless. One thing is for sure though; Craigs series is over, and the next one will need a different vibe in order to distantiate itself from his series.

davidov

Best Bond ever

Russell Teo

Happy to finally hear her pronounce Thanos correctly in the outtro😂

Cole Jennett

I know a lot of people didn’t like the Craig era bonds. But I really did. It portrayed bond as an actual human being not some programmed robot like all the other were (with the exception of George Lazenby) and it ends with him tragically like what happens in life so often.

Alex Gorell

I read somewhere that’s what they are planning on doing.

Alex Gorell

Last i heard they were going to do the runner up for each of the Bond eras

Gunnar Rea

ugh, another one.

Craig Russell

If you wanna do another bond file then I think "For yours eyes Only" would be a good one to take a look at.

David Fisher

Agreed!

James UK

Been waiting for this one like forever

Russell Teo

I think the producers have painted themselves into a corner. The stunt they pulled with this latest movie can only be pulled once. They can't keep rebooting the character, and series, over and over, and they can't keep serving Bond a final solution.

Mike LL

I hope the next Bond film will be a continuous story from the original timeline. So after the events of Die Another Day.

ROBERT CLARK

Perfect bittersweet ending. I know it was devestating, I've been seeing Bond save the world ever since I was 8, and I thought the same as you: "can't this man who saved the world 20 times over ever catch a break?".... nope he can't, it's not in the 007-DNA. He is an hero, but like was said in Casino Royale: "double-o's have a very short life expectancy" Bond was lucky he was able to get out and retire, coming back once more to save the world a last time was his undoing. Bitterbittersweet. As for anybody saying they killed off Bond; yes and no. This itiration was killed off, just like they practically killed of Felix in LTK (he was alive, but with one leg unlikely to return). Blofeld was killed off before as well. Within this franchise there were never really any rules wether everything took place within the same timeline or not. They can go into any direction they want with every recasting of Bond.

davidov

Spoiler ahead... . . . . . . . . . I believe Bond being a parent was a plot line originally used in the You Only Live Twice novel but I know the film never touched on that story arc.

ROBERT CLARK

You should check out Sahara with Matthew McConaughey. It's a ton of fun!

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

So that dress that I believe Carly said she wanted is the Massimo Dutti Ribbed Dress with Belt. It’s only like 90 bucks if you can find it second hand on eBay

djKENTO

Thanks for the upload! Just wondering if Skyfall will be available for download? Still says "coming soon" for me. :)

Sindre Kristiansen

Idris Elba never playing Bond is sadder than the ending of this one.

Shehab Dawoud

The Bond movies need to end if they can’t come up with better title songs than these last two!

Mike LL

Interestingly, I didn't cry the first time I saw it (I was more angry), but I did get choked up on my second viewing.

Stick Figure Studios

George Lazenby saw the film in the theater and tweeted "interesting choice of music at the end" after he came out of it.

Stick Figure Studios

Yes, FYEO is the better movie, but OP is woefully under-appreciated.

Stick Figure Studios

And not "007 will return" either. James Bond will return. The man himself.

Stick Figure Studios

Yes! Bring back the FUN standalone Bonds.

Stick Figure Studios

After both Felix and Blofeld died, I knew they were going to kill Bond. I thought to myself, "They're cleaning house."

Stick Figure Studios

Agreed. Too long and Paloma rocks.

Stick Figure Studios

Thank you for mentioning this. I was going to say the same thing. I'm surprised they forgot he survived.

Stick Figure Studios

Correction Cassie. Felix from Licence To Kill did not die. He was critically wounded and lost a leg by a shark but made a full recovery and happily retired from the CIA.

ROBERT CLARK

I didn't like this movie the first time I saw it. Now I've seen it four times and I legitimately love it. I understand the people that don't like it. I do (except the people who call it bad or trash or say there's nothing good about it and offer no substantive critiques at all... They're just hating for no reason). But with the Daniel Craig era being a closed loop, the ending is fine with me. Besides, that, little girl changed the entire equation. As soon as I saw her, my insides turned to jello. Seeing James Bond actively protect his daughter was an emotional experience that I was not prepared for. I enjoy the movie every time I see it now. It's never going to replace Casino Royale as my favorite, but for right now it's #5 in my top five. Not only do I appreciate that they did something ballsy, I really appreciate the way it was shot, a lot of the characterization, the music, and the writing. It's a great movie.

Caomhan84

Spoilers ahead... . . . . . . . . . I thought Hugh Dennis was a great surprise cameo. I guess the UK fans knew him better.

ROBERT CLARK

This seems like a good Bond movie (not even thinking about the ending) but it also seems way way too long. The best thing about the movie is Ana de Armas. After it was over, it is incredible to think how this is her second movie with Daniel Craig, and how different her character is in this movie from the wonderfully goofy and vulnerable main character she played as the protagonist in KNIVES OUT. Her character couldn’t have been more different in the two movies, but she almost single handedly saved this movie.

Mike LL

I was worried for a moment that the first jump scare was going to put Cassie out of commission!

Brad P

Spoilers ahead... . . . . . . . . . I liked how Cassie said "She shot him like 5 times and he fell off a balcony." Reminds me of Halloween.

ROBERT CLARK

This is the only Bond movie I've seen only once so far and had very mixed feelings about it. I did like parts of it, but it just didn't work for me as a whole. Especially the ending, which I outright disliked. I think this movie did not do justice to Craig's legacy as Bond, and I wish they had ended his arc with SPECTRE instead. While that movie had its issues, it would have been a more fitting conclusion for Craig's take on the character. It would have been a great sendoff, finally letting go of his demons and simply driving away with Madeleine in the Aston Martin and passing the baton to another actor. So, it will be interesting for me to revisit this one for the second time and I'm curious if I see it differently this time, especially with Cassie's & Carly's take on it. Looking forward to it very much. PS: okay, had time to watch the intro before work. I'm with Cassie, Sean Connery is James Bond for me. 😉 I'm surprised Cassie called the ending in the intro. I personally did not see it coming and never even assumed until almost the very end of the movie that they would dare to do that to the character.

A well directed and stylish movie that while I objectively think is good, just didn't feel like JAMES BOND to me. I get they had to do a continuity heavy conclusion to his era but it comes at the expense of the fun, the womanizing, the puns, and a movie that feels free to be stand alone. The 2 best Craig movies were the ones where it's the most stand alone, Casino Royale (when they made it, it was fairly stand alone) and Skyfall. When Bond gets to wrapped up in plot from previous movies we get Quantum, Spectre and this.

I prefer FOR YOUR EYES ONLY, but OCTOPUSSY is very close behind and probably the most underrated of the Moore movies.

OCTOPUSSY has always been a guilty pleasure of mine. Yes, a gooey cheesy pizza of a movie, but great fun and highly underrated.

A controversial end to Daniel Craig’s time as Bond. Despite there being a couple of really good movies in there I never warmed to him as Bond or the movies in general. There’s nothing wrong with an over arching continuity but I think they tied themselves in knots trying to make everything fit. I also didn’t like how every story had some sort of personal connection to Bond. Up until now he’s, for the most part, been just another agent on another mission. But mostly I hated how these movies were almost completely devoid of the fun element which had, to a greater or lesser extent, been in all the earlier movies. I just didn’t enjoy watching them as much. Of course this is all subjective and I’m aware these will be the same reasons that many love the Craig movies and don’t care for the older ones. It’ll be fascinating to see what comes next because as it tells us at the end of every movie JAMES BOND WILL RETURN.

Finally, this miserable era of Trauma Bond is over. Maybe now the character can go back to being a hero again instead of being "relatable"

Yeah, I've heard that theory before and I'm not a fan of it. I don't think Bond should die (I don't like the precedent it sets -- every actor who plays him going forward now is going to want a glorious death in his final entry -- and I think it is a betrayal of the character and what he stands for) and I don't like the idea of 'James Bond" being a code name. "007" is the moniker that can change with different the agents -- as this very movie demonstrates -- and not the name "James Bond." That's just his name. Always has been (as SKYFALL illustrated). The code-name fan theory takes the whole "changing faces" of Bond too literally I think. It's merely a conceit of a revolving door of actors portraying a fictional character. All of the Bonds prior to Craig were all the same guy. Yes, it means he essentially doesn't age and has a sort of rolling continuity/loose backstory (just like the Simpsons haven't aged in over 30 years), but that's the kind of thing that used to be easier for audiences to just suspend their disbelief and accept. I guess everything needs an "in universe" explanation now.

I sobbed uncontrollably like a little girl at this one, and Hans Zimmer’s beautiful as always and dramatic score ensured that…thankfully it was a matinee with few people around. All the often subtle nods to many of the previous films made this a nice lil send off…until they eventually and inevitably reboot with a new younger actor. Please take your time…Daniel Craig will be hard to replace. So good: https://youtube.com/watch?v=Vv_z2obBFd0&feature=sharec

I vowed not to watch this film because of all the spoilers, and if I gather right, I doubt Cassie loved it lol. Again, modern Hollywood does NOT know how to make movies. With the exclusion of Top Gun Maverick, the last decade has been pretty much pure garbage for films. And now with all the Hollywood strikes, filmmaking is in it's "death throws". I feel after these strikes, Hollywood will downsize and hopefully a great reset will happen.🎤👇

The world is not enough. James Bond will return.

I have not seen it yet, so will reserve judgment, but I like the idea. It brings a mythology to the character. The moniker, James Bond, is a cover, like 007. A name you use to install dread into your enemies. Someone who cannot die. This way, you can explain the “ changing of the guard” each time a new actor is put in place. Then James can be the new “ babayaga”

OCTOPUSSY was my first Bond movie and it's still a favorite of mine.

And I know why you have no words for this one. Personally, I think that decision to *MAJOR SPOILER FOR THOSE WHO STILL HAVEN'T SEEN IT* kill Bond was a big mistake. James Bond should never die. Period. That's a move that, to me, reeks of desperation, of the producers not knowing what to do with the character anymore. Yes, it was emotional (especially when they used the Louis Armstrong song from ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE), but it was unearned imo. How they are going to "bring him back" when they eventually re-cast the role I do not know (I suspect that they'll just reboot the continuity again like they did when Craig took over), but the very end of the closing credits promises that "James Bond will return" (not "007 will return"; Janes Bond... the man himself), so we'll see. Other than that, I thought the movie was pretty good. A little long, but I liked it. I'd rank it about in the middle of Craig's tenure (below CASINO ROYALE and SKYFALL but above SPECTRE and QUANTUM OF SOLACE). The best part of the movie was the ten minutes that had Ana de Armas (Craig's KNIVES OUT co-star). She was terrific. Could've used more of her. Anyway, I'm dying to see your reaction to this. So, I'll go watch it right now. Let me just say, as a big Bond fan, "thank you" once again for undertaking this journey. I'm glad you had fun. I certainly did. I hope you go back and check out some of the ones you skipped. There are still some great Bond movies out there (a few are even better than some of the ones you've watched here). Obviously, I'd love it if you did it sooner rather than later, but if a lot of people are tired of Bond, you can wait a little bit. There's no rush. You have all the time in the world. ;-)

Part of the journey is the end. That's the hero gig for you. 🥲

Perfect timing, only just got up.

You girls are the best. Will watch it with you tomorrow.

Let’s go

Yeah, I suspected the reaction. It also mirrors On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, whose movie ending Cassie didn’t care for. And it mirrors the earlier movie down to a song selection at the end. A bit of a bummer.

I have not seen it, but I have heard about it. This is going to be an interesting one.😁

This year celebrates the 40th anniversary of OCTOPUSSY (1983), the 13th Bond movie and Roger Moore’s sixth outing as 007. Now that you’ve watched the more dramatic of the Bonds during the Craig era, perhaps it’s time to enjoy the more fun and cheesy of the franchise, and it doesn’t get better than OCTOPUSSY. This movie is like comfort food, a nice slice of cheese pizza on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Like Calvin Dyson from YouTube put it: “Comfort Bond”. It has all the elements of a classic 007 movie and follows the Bond blueprint to a T. Another enjoyable one is MOONRAKER (1979). OCTOPUSSY is not just fun, but it’s a very elegant and clever espionage thriller with a great soundtrack, incredible stunts, exotic locations, amazing sets, and larger than life villains. Oh, and has one of the best Bond girls in the franchise. 1983 was a great year for both Star Wars and Bond fans. We got RETURN OF THE JEDI and two James Bond movies. OCTOPUSSY was released first in the summer of ’83, then later came NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN, starring Sean Connery, which was a remake of THUNDERBALL (1965). THUNDERBALL is the better of the two IMHO. It’s amazing how Bond fans used to get a new 007 adventure every couple of years and were treated to two in 1983. Now we barely get one every 5 years or so. Good old days. I highly recommend OCTUPUSSY. One of Bond’s most underrated adventures, but it’s gaining recognition nowadays. It’s the perfect escapism, fun vehicle. Like the opening line of the title song: “all I wanted was a sweet distraction for an hour or two”. You won’t be disappointed.
