Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995) - Full Reaction

Sorry guys, this was supposed to be up last night!! This was a heist meets Die hard and we loved that! I think it was maybe my favorite, well tied with number 1.  After watching a bunch of Bruce Willis recently, I can say he IS John McClane.

Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995) - Full Reaction

Comments

I think it's pretty dang cool everyone is cheering for Die Hard 4 & 5!

Philip Alan

At the time, it was my go to spot to grab my WIDE SCREEN copies. Most places were selling FULL SCREEN versions! Love Suncoast.

Philip Alan

I actually really enjoyed #4. #5 eh.

Jerrod Acree

Warriors, come out to playay!

Paul Deaconu

Taking it upon myself to put the call out to reactors on their latest posts to watch the movie "The Warriors" from 1979. Awesome movie; I have never seen reactions from any of my favorite reactors.

Zachary Carter

She has seen it. 🙂

Björn Karlsson

Great movie! I think she already watched it before she started the channel. It would have made for a great reaction though!

Nismo

It's a lot for them, but so worth it.

Martin Nicholls

4 is so underappreciated. It's in some ways utterly silly, but in other ways so completely serious and plausible and not at all ridiculous, as somebody who works in 'that field' it is my worst nightmare - the story is highly plausible at its most basic level.

Martin Nicholls

Do you guys think that Denzel Washington’s “Man on Fire” is too dark. Just asking, because I think it’s a great movie, but idk.

Uncle Phoenix

Definitely need to finish off the quadilogy with 4.0. I think Die Hard with a Vengence was the first film I saw in the series. I was 12 when it came out!

Biggman83

Aside from Samuel L Jackson’s saving grace acting, this movie is the only one where Jeremy Irons acting is below par and Bruce Willis commit career suicide

Russell Teo

I think THIS one was my favorite until the 4th came out. That one is awesome. Totally agree.

Terdell Ferguson

I'm gonna suggest Reds with Willis. That was a surprisingly fun film. I think you would like it.

Gideon James

I think the 4th will be your favourite

jay

Yippee Kai Yay Popcorn In Bed 😆🍿

Johnny Salinas

Just to touch on Carly making the argument that this one not being set on Christmas, weakens the argument about the first 2 being Christmas movies. First off, how dare you lol. Second, there are a bunch of Christmas references in this movie so does that maybe help convince you that the first 2 are in fact, Christmas movies? I don't really know why it would, that's not the best evidence but see, even the 3rd one can't escape Christmas. The first 2 are such perfect Christmas movies that it bleeds into the 3rd!

Erik Daniel

I saw it with my Mom and Sister and we all dug it. I had a few issues with it, but overall it was a very fun ride with some great performances. I would say I now rank the series 1, 3, 5, 2, 4. Your man Harrison has still got it.

Erik Daniel

cas: "3...2....1...." countdown prompt: "dont believe her lies"

rubberkidney

Well hello ladies, and Carly I know this is late but I hope your days at work are awesome. This one and the first Die Hard movies are my top favorites and also I didn’t know that both of you like Heist & Riddles on movies; so I’m wondering now what’s next after the Bond movie? we’ll until then nice reaction.

FranciscoGios

Great reaction. I really liked number 4. Please watch that one before you stop.

Luke Godfrey

John McTiernan was removed as Director of The 13th Warrior after bad test screenings, and was replaced by Michael Crichton, who wrote the Novel.

Larry Darrell

I've never actually seen 5.. loved the other 4 tho... of those i thought 2 was the cheesiest

Andrew Rose

Mine would be 1,3,2,4,5.

Stick Figure Studios

Most people did.

Stick Figure Studios

Which demonstrates that a movie doesn't have to be released into the theaters in the winter to be considered a Christmas movie. CHRISTMAS IN CONNECTICUT and HOLIDAY INN were also summer releases.

Stick Figure Studios

From what I've read, the original 1947 Miracle on 34th Street was released in the month of May is because Darryl Zanuck, the head of 20th Century Fox at the time, believed people stayed away from the theaters in the winter months.

Shawn Kildal

But he was soooo good at being the bad guy and he pulled amazing heist lol besides he's no monster

MatthewBrown74m

the aspirin was too easy or too convenient for me, the only part i was a bit disappointed with

Cassie

Cassie & Carly I do hope you get round to watching Die Hard 4.0 I personally think it's better then this film while A Good Day To Die Hard isn't worth a reaction but I know you are easily entertained Cassie. My personal ranking of this series from best to worst are Die Hard 1, 2, 4, 3, 5

ROBERT CLARK

yes!! very wrong!! haha

Cassie

doh!! 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

Cassie

hahaha 😜

Cassie

what did you think of indy 5?

Cassie

wait WHAT?!

Cassie

WastedPo Forget about Russell mate, he's a strange lad

Liam Maguire

Yeah, 4 is surprisingly decent, but it still doesn't touch the first three.

Stick Figure Studios

What do you mean by this?

WastedPo

And to be clear 4 is excellent, def worthy of being grouped with the first three. I thought I went to see the 5th, but I have no memory, it seems my brain killed those memory cells to save me the horror of remembering the nightmare...

Keith Jones

I made the same assumption (always a bad move), I need to recruit someone to watch with me but most people look at me like I'm in a cult when I describe this!

Keith Jones

This is how Bruce Willis’s career ended

Russell Teo

This one was my absolute favorite of the series until LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD - the next one - which became my favorite. The last of the series is meh, but the first 4 really are DIE HARD. Hopefully, we can see LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD soon.

Terdell Ferguson

I actually did enjoy Live Free or Die Hard.

Ricardo Alanis

@Gideon James Genuine question, do you watch her reactions with other people? I just assumed people watched reaction videos by themselves

Jyn Jilly

Hey Gideon, crystal clear here too not that that helps you. (anyway, all Cassie says is 'Oh my gosh', with varying amounts of Ys and Os) j/k

AdrianF

yeah its ok but.... I dont say it is a bad movie, but if I had to draw a line between the high quality die hard movies and the not so good ones, the line is between 3 and 4

Dioskur

Not to anyone in our house. I'm assuming sometime around the first of the year they changed it and added noise suppression/cancelation. If I'm wrong and nothing has changed then my bad but we checked it on 3 different devices and it's the same.

Gideon James

It's clear as a bell for me.

Mike Lemon

Please fix your audio. Your noise cancelation makes it's hard to understand what you are saying. Thanks

Gideon James

Split the difference - watch the next one and stop there.

Dazman

It's interesting reading the comments on which Die Hard movie is better than the other, especially if we're just talking about the sequels. All though, I'm sure almost everyone agrees the last one is by far the worst. Personally, I thought the next one, Live Free or Die Hard was the best sequel.

Shawn Kildal

Oh man oh man, I loved this reaction! I'm so so glad you and Carly enjoyed it! WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA WAIT A HEF A DARN MINUTE, do not end it here, you must watch the 4th one, Live Free Or Die Hard, it's good, but watch the unrated version! However I do advise to avoid the 5th one, A Good Day to Die Hard, definitely avoid that one! As always you and Carly are the best at reacting to my favorite movies, including this one! This was so fun to watch! Personally, I prefer the chemistry between Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson in this movie rather than Unbreakable, but that's just me! I'm really surprised you didn't recognize Jeremy Irons' voice (Simon), he played Scar in Lion King, his voice is so easily recognizable! Givin what happens in this movie with all the bombs and explosions in NYC, don't let it spook you considering you two will be going to NYC for the premiere of Mission Impossible soon! Please forgive me, I say this as a compliment towards Carly again, but I just couldn't help but notice how lovely she looked in this reaction, you Cassie look lovely as well, always lol😁 Plus I also say this as a compliment, but I can't wait to hopefully see pics of you two at the premiere looking lovely in the dresses you rented lol😁 Anyway, this was great, please watch at least the 4th one, it is good, I promise you that! Much love and support, you and Carly are the best, Happy Canada Day, and as always [snaps fingers & winks] stay classy Cassie🥰😁😉👍🌹

Wesley White

Back then, the head of 20th Century Fox believed people stayed away from the theaters in the winter months which is the reason it was released in May. I really only mentioned it because I got the impression during this reaction that Cassie and Carly thought the first 2 movies were released around Christmas time.

Shawn Kildal

Nobody likes the fifth.

Stick Figure Studios

And the original MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET was released in June.

Stick Figure Studios

The first two (Christmas?) Die Hard movies were both released in the month of July.

Shawn Kildal

Yay! Now to the other end of the spectrum:"Doc Hollywood" 1991 with Michael J Fox!!!

Randolph Tirazona

Die Hard 4 isn't bad. Is it as great as 1 or 3? No but I rank it better than 2 for sure. Also has Timothy Olyphant in it. The elephant joke is because the elephant has a 'trunk' another word for suitcase And off the top of my head (no googling i promise) 2 solutions to the water puzzle: Fill 3Gal pour it into 5Gal Fill 3Gal and pour 2 gallons into space in 5Gal leaving 1 gallon in 3Gal Empty 5Gal and pour leftover 1 gallon into it. then refill 3Gal and pour that in for 4 gallons alternative: Fill 5gal pour into 3gal leaving 2 gallons empty 3gal. pour 2 gallons from 5gal into 3gal. refill 5gal and pour 1 gallon to fill the space in 3gal leaving you 4 gallons Lovely reaction to my favorite Die Hard. Thanks Ladies!

LuMarq

Please watch the four one. That's my favorite of the series. But personally I didn't like the fifth.

hector castro

I'm sure somebody mentioned this already but Jeremy Irons who played Simon also played Scar in the animated Lion King from the 90s.

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

Here is two good heist movies 1. Inside Man 2. Now You See Me

JarHead0351

So a small part of me says visit the last 2 Die Hard movies. But if I'm being honest, a big part of me says just stop here at the 3rd one. A couple Bruce Willis moves I would highly recommend though are "The Last Boy Scout" and "16 Blocks" pretty good movies.

DM DC

I just got home from the new Indiana Jones and thought, I should check my email, but I really don't want to see anything from work. No work emails and this notification. "Glorious!" (movie quote).

Erik Daniel

This is a solid action movie. While not as good as the first one it is still very fun and very entertaining. Bruce Willis really nails the character of John McClaine

James1035

Personally I've always really liked Die Hard with a Vengeance. Just as much as the first one. The second one's villain Colonel Stuart (played by William Sadler playing against type, and an actor I actually really like) just lacked the charisma that Hans and his brother Simon had. I will say though, that compared to the other films, it definitely suffers from not having a satisfying death for the villain. In the first one we get Hans falling from the top of Nakatomi Tower, in the second Colonel Stuart and all his men get blown up in their plane. Heck I'd say the fourth movie's villain death is more satisfying than Die Hard with a Vengeance's. Though if there is one aspect I do like about it. It's that it comes at the time when Simon and his boys are celebrating their victory, talking about what country they want to buy. And it also interrupts the little romantic rendezvous with Targo's Widow. Those I like, it's the actual death of Simon that leaves me unsatisfied.

Phillip Ribbink

"The 13th Warrior” and “The Paper” are just personal fav’s. Maybe if we mention that Robert Duvall was really good in The Paper.

Uncle Phoenix

That’s the one. My bad.

Uncle Phoenix

The next one live free or die hard isn't terrible but it's the beginning of the decline for sure. You may still enjoy it that one. The criminal mastermind types movies though, a john Travolta role that's surprisingly good is Broken Aarow and a great Samuel L Jackson hidden gem is the Negotiator.

Bubba Fett

@Lee, Audrey Hepburn wasn’t in The Searchers. She was in a western called The Unforgiven (1960), Maybe that’s the one you’re talking about?

Tim Raths

@Lee: I didn't mention THE 13TH WARRIOR because I'm not exactly sure that it's a strong point in McTiernan's filmography.

Stick Figure Studios

Oh, okay. I get what you're saying. Yes, I like the fact that they didn't just repeat the single location premise of the first one (and to some degree the second one) as well. I also like that they didn't retain the "John McClane is just the wrong guy in the wrong place at the wrong time" conceit for a third time (because that would have been simply incredulous) and instead had the villain actually targeting him.

Stick Figure Studios

Oh, good example with NATIONAL LAMPOON'S CHRISTMAS VACATION. I used GREMLINS and it's non-Christmas sequel to illustrate the same point, but I like your pick better.

Stick Figure Studios

There are two more movies. The next one “Live Free or Die Hard” is not the bad one. It’s probably one of my favorite ones. Also for the elephant joke, the reason it’s always ready to travel is because it has a trunk (think storage trunk).

John Cohen

Great reaction ladies. McLean and Zeus are a great team. This one is right up there with the original as far as I'm concerned. I also like the 4th one and I think it's worth a watch at some point.

Canadianant

John McTiernan also directed “The 13th Warrior”(1999). Wouldn’t it be great to see Antonio Banderas play a Muslim Prince; after Audrey Hepburn plays a Kiowa Princess in "The Searchers”(1956).

Uncle Phoenix

Made me feel so old when they didn’t get the elephant joke. No one uses steamer trunks anymore.

Uncle Phoenix

I give it an honest try - but I can’t get it to work for me. Love that Animaniacs Song though!

Ike

The Presidents- (first syllable sounds, or close. Say as a spoken word song.) Wash, Ad, Gee, Mad, Mon, Ad, Jack Van, Hair, Ty, Po, Tay, Phil, Pie Buck, Lin, Jon, Grant, Hay, Gar, Ar Cleve, Hair, Cleve, Mick, Roo, Tay Will, Hard, Coo, Hoo, Roo, Tru I, Ken, John, Nix, Ford ,Car, Reag Bu, Clee, Bu O, Tru, Bi Or go by the Animaniacs song- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oc3xTj3g9QQ

Mike Lemon

I haven't watched the reaction yet. But in answer to Carly's question, no, the fact that "Die Hard with a Vengeance" is not a Christmas movie doesn't detract from the fact that the original "Die Hard" *WAS* a Christmas movie. As an analogy: No one would ever suggest that "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" was not a Christmas movie. Yet that too was also just one movie in a series of movies comprised of non-Christmas movies.

WastedPo

Yeah, spent my birthdays buying movies at Suncoast.

Alex Villarreal

excellent intro paragraph Cassie! ;)

JC762

Not only was the first movie a heist movie, but the basic plan of both Gruber brothers was the same: A massive theft/heist disguised by acts of terrorism.

Just Plain Bob

I meant to say that I like that they didn’t repeat themselves like the second movie did. I like that they tried something new. That being said I’m judging this as what I would rather watch on a rainy day. Die hard is superior than 3.

Night King01

Black Christmas is a Christmas movie just not in the traditional sense. The first horror film that scared the bejeezus out of me.

Robin Craft

Graham Greene was in Maverick also.

Mike Lemon

"Zeus! As in, father of Apollo? Mt. Olympus? Don't #!%& with me or I'll shove a lightning bolt up your @$$? Zeus! You got a problem with that?" One of my all-time favorite pairings; and definitely my favorite DIE HARD sequel. Good stuff.

Steve Mercier

Four is worth seeing. There are a couple of bits that would make them gasp and McClane is really out of his element.

Dazman

Great Reaction, Ladies. It was nice Carly could join. It has been so long since I saw this movie that I couldn't remember half of it. It was fun to watch it again. I agree with Cassie. This one is the 2nd best Die Hard movie after the 1st one. I like a movie that keeps you guessing. Very entertaining ladies.

Rick Williams

This one is my favorite Die Hard. Bruce and Samuel L Jackson are such a fantastic combo in this. The 4th movie is good too. I actually prefer it to the 2nd one. It's the 5th one that you should avoid like the plague. It has very little to do with the concept that is Die Hard.

Eric

Yes, DIE HARD is a Christmas movie. Die Hard is not a Christmas SERIES. It's pretty simple. And I actually like Die Hard 4 well enough. It's lesser for sure, but a decent enough action movie. If PiB stopped at 3, they definitely watched the best of the series.

Walter

Agree 100%. You said perfectly what I wish I’d said.

Just Plain Bob

Alternatively you can fill the 3 gallon jug and poor that 3 gallons into the 5 gallon jug. Then fill the 3 gallon jug again and use it to fill up the 5 gallon jug. That leaves 1 gallon in the 3 gallon jug. Empty the 5 gallon jug, poor the 1 gallon from the 3 gallon jug into the 5 gallon jug, fill the 3 gallon jug again and poor those gallons in with the 1 gallon in the 5 gallon jug.

Eric

I think people who just like typical '90s action movies probably prefer the third one. Yes, It is a cut above most of the standard action fare of that decade (SPEED, CON AIR, etc,), but it's still no match for the level of craft, storytelling and elegance of the original. DIE HARD 3 is an above average action thriller, the original DIE HARD is the action genre elevated to the level of art.

Stick Figure Studios

Die Hard, Die Hard 2, Home Alone, Lethal Weapon, Batman Returns… and a perhaps few you haven’t seen all take place at Christmas. Before them, broadcast television stations used to only play classical Christmas movies during the holiday season (Charlie Brown’s Christmas, a Miracle on 34th Street, White Christmas, A Christmas Story, It’s A Wonderful Life, etc…) and the movies that I listed became a very coy breakup - and a reasonable corporate excuse - to play something more adult in theme. I also believe that was an intentional marketing strategy by the filmmakers themselves. When VHS players for movies became ubiquitous, these films found a place in American family homes. My action-loving father couldn’t wait to play Die Hard or Lethal Weapon during the holiday season. When my mother complained from the kitchen about the [mild] violence portrayed in these films, his excuse was (very slyly), “But Hon, technically it IS a Christmas movie!,” which is where my younger brother and I would quietly HIGH-FIVE in honor of the boyish “team spirit,” while sitting in front my father’s recliner. And just like that, Lethal Weapon and Die Hard became “Christmas Movies.” (Three Boys, No Grown Ups, and One Great Woman). 🙂 Okay… on with the show.

Ike

My first Die hard was actually the second one. Saw it in the theater with my dad and immediately wanted to watch the original. Also, I remember Suncoast video. Loved that place.

Stick Figure Studios

4 is okay. 5 is execrable.

Stick Figure Studios

No, we can mention the second one. We can even mention the fourth one. We do not mention the fifth one.

Stick Figure Studios

For me, it starts to go downhill right around the time Willis comes shooting out of the pipe in a geyser of water. Still, up until then it's every bit an equal to the first one and I would rank at second in the whole series.

Stick Figure Studios

The being confined to one claustrophobic location is one of the things that makes the original so great and innovative.

Stick Figure Studios

I find it kind of amusing, Cassie, that you keep referring to this as "DIE HARD with a heist," because the original DIE HARD *was* a heist. :-) Anyway, just finished the reaction and thoroughly enjoyed it. I knew you ladies would like this. For my money, it's the best one since the first one (but the original is and always will be the best DIE HARD) and a big part of that is probably the fact that it's made by the same director (John McTiernan who also did PREDATOR, THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER and THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR remake). Willis and Jackson make a great team and Jeremy Irons is a worthy villain (not equal to Alan Rickman's Hans Gruber from the original, but then again who is?). No, it's not a Christmas movie, but you may have picked up on several references to Christmas in it. To answer Carly's suggestion, I do not think the DIE HARD movies can be classified as a "Christmas series" (like the HOME ALONE or SANTA CLAUSE movies), but that does not mean that the first one is not still a "Christmas movie." It's like GREMLINS. The first is definitely a Christmas movie, but the second one takes place in the summer (in New York City too come to think of it), so we can't say GREMLINS is a Christmas franchise, but it can still contain a Christmas movie in it. You are correct about the movies going downhill from here. While I do think the fourth one is a decent enough sequel (the fifth one is crap), there was one aspect of it that I don't think either of you will care for, so you're probably just as well ending here. This is a good finale to this series. Another great reaction as always. Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see your response to SKYFALL. (One final note. The actor you were having difficulty placing is named Graham Greene. You saw him in DANCES WITH WOLVES and MAVERICK.)

Stick Figure Studios

Also, echoing everyone who says you will probably enjoy the fourth Die Hard movie, Live Free or Die Hard, but you definitely do not need to see the fifth one, A Good Day to Die Hard.

Tyler Foster

So I saw this in the theater on the first day came it came out. We got buttons for the 1st showing. Saw it with my Dad and my friend. I think there are lot of people on here that were waiting for this one. So a big Huge Thank You To You And Carly. This made my day/ week. With your reaction. Live free or Die Hard or a Good Day to Die Hard weren't that bad it just wasn't as good as the 1&3. But Live Free did take place over the 4th. Someone mentioned it before, I read. I am still in Canada Kelowna BC, Loving it. I wish you and your family a happy Canada Day and a Happy 4th. Fireworks scare my Dog so I will be here cuddling him.

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

Knowing how much you like a good heist movie, I was hoping for a good reaction, but you really delivered with this one. You were on the edge of your seat the whole time trying to figure out the plot. I loved watching you enjoy the movie as much as I did. There are two more sequels. If you would like to end on a high note, the third one is a good place to stop. But the fourth, LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD (2007), is a fine movie. It may not match the brilliance of the first and third, but I think it's on par with the second one. I think you would enjoy most of it and not regret seeing it. But the fifth one, A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD (2013), is just a bad movie with no real redeeming qualities. My recommendation is that unless you are very curious, skip this one. I really wanted to like it, partly because it was shot in the city where I live and I've even seen roads closed and some scenes being recorded, but it just isn't good. 😞

Gábor Árki

The two solutions to the jug riddle: 1) Fill the 3 gallon and put that water into the empty 5 gallon jug. Fill the 3 gallon jug again. There will only be 2 gallons of space left in the 5 gallon jug. Add as much of the water as possible to the 5 gallon jug, which will leave 1 gallon in the 3 gallon jug. Empty the 5 gallon jug, put the 1 gallon into the empty 5 gallon jug, and then fill the 3 gallon and add it to the other jug as well to get 4 gallons. 2) Fill the 5 gallon jug, and empty it into the 3 gallon jug, leaving 2 gallons behind in the 5. Empty the 3 gallon jug, put the 2 gallons left in the 5 into the 3. Then fill the entire 5 gallon jug and pour 1 gallon from it into the space left in the 3 gallon jug, leaving 4 gallons behind in the 5. (The second solution is the one presented in the movie, but they skip a step so it's hard to tell how they get there.)

Tyler Foster

One very small improvement that I would've made to the theatrical version is I really think they should've flipped the placement of the lines "Say hello to your brother for me" and the big "Yippee-ki-yay" line.

Tyler Foster

I really liked this third entry in the Die Hard franchise but I can’t agree with those that believe it rivals the original. To me, the original is easily the best of the series. As for the films that came after number three, they are horrible. PS: Regarding the “are the first two Die Hard films Christmas movies” debate, I vote YES. But, in the interest of full disclosure, my favorite Christmas movie is Bob Clark’s Black Christmas, so my judgment on the matter might be suspect.

Just Plain Bob

Yippie kia yah 'Mr. Falcon'. (Cassie, that is TV edit version just for you.)

Christopher Smith

I feel the same. The ending we got is clumsy but still better than the alternate.

Gábor Árki

When are you diving back into Lethal Weapon?

Neill Shaughness

Die Hard 1+2+3 are all great. I can't decide on "best one" but they are all very very good. But yes, these three are way above the next few, you can leave it at that. Maybe come back in 10 years after you watcher everything else hollywood had to offer

Dioskur

4 is pretty good, but stop there: 5 is universally hated.

Odd Thomas

This was my first DIE HARD (and still my favorite!). I wanted to see this so bad when I was a kid and loved it. Immediately went to the Suncoast Video store and bought the first two.

Alex Villarreal

Can’t wait to watch this when I get home tonight! Can confidently say, unlike Die Hard 1 and 2, this one is not a Christmas movie 😆

Josh Phillips

Thanks, I've never seen that alternate ending before, and I think the test audience and the producers were correct. The ending in the finished film was better, if a little clunky. The ramifications of the villain absconding with all that gold that other countries had entrusted to the US would have been far reaching way beyond the scope of the film.

Mike LL

Margin Call is an example of a film that doesn't need action to be riveting. Great cast as well.

Robin Craft

SWEET!!!!! Can't wait to watch this! I have to work in a few hours, so for certain, I'll watch it tonight and give you my commentary! Your Live watchalong for Romancing the Stone was really fun last night, I enjoyed it immensely, your reaction was priceless as always lol, and you looked very pretty last night if I compliment lol! Much love and support as always, have a great Friday, hope the birthday party goes well, see ya at the next YT edit premiere!🥰😁😉👍🌹

Wesley White

An elephant is always ready to travel because it has a trunk.

Dazman

I quite like 4, but 5 is so bad that I haven't even watched it.

Dazman

I knew this would a fabulous reaction, and it certainly was. As tired as I am by the non stop action pictures here lately, I was super excited for this movie. It is a cut above the standard action fare. Might be the best of the Die Hards, it is neck and neck with the first, imho. The cop you thought was a Canadian, Graham Greene, certainly is, being born in Ontario. He was in The Green Mile and Dances With Wolves. I have to say Samuel L. Jackson added so much to this movie. I was hoping you and Carly would go into this movie blind and be surprised by Jackson's appearance, and I am so glad it worked out that way. So great you saw the two of them together in UNBREAKABLE before you saw this one. Seeing his performance in this movie, in UNBREAKABLE, and as Nick Fury in the MCU makes you realize what a great actor he is. There is only one more Die Hard movie (wink, wink). It is LIVE FREE AND DIE HARD, and would be perfect for next year around the July 4th, because that is when the movie takes place. I like the leisurely pace you are going through the Die Hards, good things are meant to be savored, and I can wait for that special occasion next year (I can hear the howls in the background, lol).

Mike LL

Four isn't bad. I can't bring myself to watch five.

Dazman

Just one answer for the riddle with the water jugs... fill the 5 gallon jug and use it to fill the 3 gallon jug and then empty it. Now you fill the 3 gallon jug with the remaining 2 gallons from the 5 gallon jug. Now you can fill the 5 gallons and pour one gallon over into the 3 gallon jug. They shortened it a bit in the movie ;)

Konstantin Knopp

I will say that until the clunky last 15 mins (which others have mentioned here that they had several endings shot but couldn't get it right) this is almost equal to the first movie, still excellent though

Choof

So glad you loved it. Terrific reaction. There are 2 more sequels but they are both very bad and they lose the spirit of the franchise and the unique character of John McClane and they write him more as generic action guy

Choof

It's a right move to end this "trilogy" on a high. They love heists! Inside Man with Clive Owen and Denzel should be on your watch list! it's an excellent heist movie with a load of twists and turns! Samuel L Jackson is in so many films and so many good films at that. His pairing with Bruce Willis gave this movie the extra edge that elevated it above the Usual Die Hard formula. Jeremy Irons is great bad guy, I thought Alan Rickman from the first one was the better villain. But Irons acts masterfully. Another great movie which he steals scenes in is Margin Call with Kevin Spacey and Stanley Tucci.

rakesh

Alan Rickman was so good. He's so missed. Looking at the movies Cassie has done (I know she's seen HP) she's seen all the best of him. Snape, Sheriff, DH1.. Love Actually! Like SLJ I'll watch anything with him in it.

AdrianF

Thanks for doing this !!! You girls and your team are the best !!! PS: "The Searchers"

Bill Maurer

My favorite of the series narrowly beating the original and we just don’t mention the second one.

Andrew Hogan

BW and SLJ are the dynamic duo we didn't know we needed! This is my second favorite behind the original of course. Jeremy Irons (Simon) was a very good villain but he's no Alan Rickman (Hans Gruber)...RIP. In case anyone here is interested and you have a Facebook account then please check out my cover photo. It was taken at Madame Tussauds in Hollywood and my clothes and wounds were digitally created. I could have passed for Bruce's stunt double. 🤣🙃😁

Robin Craft

Jeremy irons aka Scar from lion king was perfect in this!! Is it wrong that I kinda wanted him to get away with it lol

MatthewBrown74m

Bruce willis and Samuel Jackson BEST TEAM EVER!!!

Zeus! As in father of Apollo, Mount Olympus…y’all know the rest which for obvious reasons I won’t repeat here 😂 really do think you’ll enjoy the fourth one, but STEER CLEAR of the fifth and final one by all means…

"Uncle, you better come look at this" "What." "There’s a white man standing in the street." "I've seen one." "Not like this." This part made me laugh and cringe at the same time. 🤣😯 Glad you enjoyed this one! They did a really good job tying in this story to the 1st one. Live Free Or Die Hard was a decent 4th installment. A Good Day To Die Hard? Total garbage. I can't wait until you get back to Lethal Weapon 3 and 4. 😁

Die Hard 1 IS a Christmas movie. Saying that it's not because there's no Santa Claus or other attributes of Christmas is shallow. It is a Christmas movie because it has the Christmas spirit. It's about a family reuniting, about defeating evil, about a man overcoming the mental trauma, about forming a new close friendship through facing the same adversity. Doesn't this sound like Christmas? It does to me.

Crew Glove

Fair play to Cassie, barely 15 minutes in and she suspects that Simons actions are out of revenge from the 1st 2 movies. And Carly suggested to ask Jerry about the 21st president. Sharp ladies

I've been waiting all week for you to upload this one! I can stop the cricket now!

I actually think the original ending is better because it’s more in theme with the rest of the film. Remember John only fires his gun in the elevator and a few times after. The entire film is a game of wits between him and Simon and it makes sense it would end like that Having the whole plan be ruined by the bottom of an aspirin bottle is lazy. The only thing I don’t like about the original ending is that john got fired and his marriage is completely over. The rest is pretty good.

Night King01

Neither ending really satisfies, unfortunately. I'll agree that the theatrical ending is 'better' but not by much. It's a shame because up until the last 15 minutes or so, this is just as good as the first film.

Matt Rose

You're correct, the original script was SIMON SAYS.

Matt Rose

Totally the best one

Odd Thomas

This one is my fave out of the whole series!

Edgar Gonzalez

This one is my favorite!!

Steven Ashford

Excellent! Glad you guys enjoyed it! Right up there with the original DieHard for me as well! Looking forward to watching your reaction this evening!

I have to mention this. The original ending for the film that was changed is on YouTube if you want to watch it. It is much darker because Simon actually gets away with it and McClane tracks him down and they have one last confrontation as a battle of wits. I don’t want to give anything away. but if it felt like the theatrical ending to the movie was a bit abrupt it was because the studio wanted the original changed.

Night King01

Imo this is the best and my favorite die hard, everything from this point on doesn't exist 😅

Woody G

Under appreciated imo. Happy you watched it!

Wes

This is my least favorite one of the original 3 but it’s still fun because of Samuel L. Jackson. I hope you watch 4 at some point. It’s my second favorite of the franchise.

I'm looking forward to this reaction and great timing, I can still watch it tonight (that's like ~2 hours for me) before leaving for the weekend. I know the girls might not have liked the idea of McClane being separated from his family, but I was hoping they would enjoy other aspects of the movie, such as the heist and the buddy cop element. Especially Cassie, who has watched the first two Lethal Weapons. Fun fact, this script was not originally a Die Hard movie. It was a standalone story, I think called SIMON SAYS, with Brandon Lee (THE CROW) as the intended lead actor. After his unfortunate death, it changed hands a couple of times and underwent several rewrites, including Warner, who thought of it as a potential Lethal Weapon sequel script. But eventually it returned to Fox and was rewritten again as a Die Hard sequel, moving the story from LA to New York. This film diverges from the previous two in its style and tone, which I think was the right call. It is almost as brilliant as the original, with a fresh and engaging plot that connects well to the first installment. Samuel L. Jackson's Zeus is a great addition and I think so is Jeremy Irons as the villain. I also like how a lot of the secondary characters in the NYPD are fleshed out and have their own little sub plots, and how the city of New York becomes an integral part of the story. The one aspect that makes me place it just a little below the first one is the ending. It feels a bit abrupt for me. PS, if anyone interested in the original ending disliked by the test audience, where Simon escapes with the gold and McClane tracks him down months later in Budapest, it can be found on YouTube: https://youtu.be/ORUuDiIB5Wk

Glad you liked this one. Up until the last 15 minutes, it's just as good as the first film. Unfortunately, they struggled with how to end it and I think the film does a complete belly flop for the finale. Good fun overall, though.

Matt Rose

Looking forward to this one too. You did have quite the list of to do's last night so don't ever apologize to us. Now go get those floor pillows.

Samuel Jackson as Zeus Carver carried this whole film for me. Still enjoy it but prefer the first two and Live Free or Die Hard myself. Glad you had a blast. With you reacting to alot of classic 1980s/1990s films I would love to see you watch Last Action Hero (1993) a really interesting film that critics were mixed on but action fans loved it for reasons you'll discover watching the film. One of those films that released before it's time so it's aged really well. It's a film that really needs you to have seen alot of Action Films of the 1980s and early 1990s so I think you're at the perfect stage to jump into the film. Also I have no idea before looking this up but Last Action Hero is from the director of both Die Hard and Predator so that's pretty good timing lol

Isaac

I might put this above the first simply because it’s not confined to one place like the first and also Sam Jackson as Zeus, enough said

Night King01

This one definitely was a pleasant surprise when I saw it in theaters. Second one didn't tie in the first but this one did.
