28 Days Later - Full Reaction

Hey guys! OOOOOOOkkkkk This was a crazy movie, it is so not what I was expecting, some things felt too real, too possible? aaaahhh

It was eerie, disturbing and made you think! I all of a sudden need to buy a generator and learn how to change a tire.  Was it low budget shot looking on purpose? It worked though. I thought all the actors did really well, but I liked the first half more than the second.

Ok enjoy-11 more days until Halloween!

Maybe you're an ape, but im made in the image of God

"Now the first thing we're going to do is make you look a little more presentable. It so happens that the lady of the house has an extensive wardrobe." I like this movie. I like the second half of the movie better than the first half. More variety of performances and a greater range of human nature. I like how aggressive/decisive Jim was in the latter part of the movie. I like the ending. Selena's gut reaction in kissing Jim with blood on his face was true affection. Cillian Murphy is excellent in Peaky Blinders (2013) [RT=93%, IMDb = 8.8]. Highly recommend that series.

Clay F

Oh sweet, innocent Cassie.. This is normality. 'Civilisation' is a very thin veneer over the species of ape called 'homo sapiens'. It will not take more than 28 days for those evils to be perpetrated; just look at how they are perpetrated now. If 'civilisation' collapses there won't even be anyone to uncaringly gawk at it on the news

Pirateman

wow really enjoyed this one. Did you realise there was a what if? ending plays after the credits? It was there on my copy

Matt

Being scared of chimpanzees should be everyone default position. I rather have a tiger for a pet.

Richard Maurer

You might get that wish in the near future.

Richard Maurer

I’m having flashbacks to the debate about Full Metal Jacket. And how people think the first half is better than the 2nd half… in both cases the people are wrong. Both later acts are stellar.

Jeff Milcheck

I don’t always chime in after a viewing but I did watch this the other night. This is one of my fave zombies films. If you can even call it a “zombie film”. I know Danny Boyle doesn’t consider it one….. Anyways, great reaction and just wanted to say I’m proud of our girl Cassie! I thought this was a strange choice for a “not too scary” pick but she didn’t seem fazed by that at all! And hopefully puts the “White Knights” trying to protect her innocent soul to rest….. Cassie can handle some horror, guys! She doesn’t need our protection… So let’s up the ‘ante boys!! Lol. Just kidding’.

Jeff Milcheck

I agree with you. I was surprised at all the comments about how the first half of the movie was better than the second half and about how the movie went downhill when the soldiers showed up. For me, when the soldiers showed up was when the monsters appeared in the movie. Don't even like to think about your last excellent point from you post.

Mike LL

Thanks man 🥰🥰 I appreciate your request A LOT!!! 🤗🤗 I realized one thing, when I "rediscovered" this movie in march this year. No reaction channel on Youtube has ever done this movie 😬😵‍💫🤔. I think this movie really deserves to be reacted to. Because the kids are phenomenal. The chemestry between Alexandra Dahlström and Rebecka Liljeberg is the best I have ever seen. And they are teenagers!! They really deserved their awards at the "Golden beatle award" in 1999. Yeah Lukas Moodysson have done lots of great movies, but imo is FÅ the best he has done. Lilya 4-ever is great, but so sad and dark 😪😪 Btw most of Lukas M. movies are on popcorn request. I realized one thing now 😆😁 To day (23 oct) had FÅ premiere in 1998. Twentyfour years ago 🤪😜🤣 Time flies 😐

Björn Karlsson

I remember that movie, I think I actually got to watch it in the cinema back in school with my class. Lukas Moodysson is somewhat of a national treasure. Lilya 4 ever is another fantastic movie. I think Cassie would love Show me Love. Of course, I will request it 🙂 Let’s hope we see a foreign movie poll or something like that 😉

Movieswede

This film used one of the most common themes that seems to come with zombie and zombie type films, and that is that Man is the true villain. I wonder if they're trying to tell us something. Hopefully if any type situation similar to this and other zombie/apocalyptic type shows happens, Man can stick together and not exploit one another, Hopefully. Just Saying. Also, something you, Cassie, said at the beginning of the film, about protecting your family. There is a film that you should see. No Escape (2015) starring Owen Wilson This is a film about the very thing that you said Haunts your Nightmares. This is Not a Horror film. This is Not a Gory film. But this Is a Frightening film. I know you said it haunts your nightmares, but I feel this is a film that every Parent should watch. It gets you thinking how far you will go to save your family. Sometimes it is good to face your fears, especially in a controlled environment, like your Bed. So that one day, if the situation ever occured, you will have seen or thought the scenario through before, and you will be a little more prepared for such things that get thrown at you

Larry Darrell

Perfect for Halloween

Larry Darrell

was it light enough at 4am in london? i guess so

Cassie

she would never forgive me

Cassie

agreed

Cassie

nooooooo i can’t accept that 🫠🤫

Cassie

i was rooting for that one too

Cassie

wow!! i kept thinking i must have put on a low quality setting but it just was, i actually didn’t mind it but weird to see nowadays a little

Cassie

Loved your reaction to this Cassie, it's one of my fav movies. I love the music in this movie, but that's a common thing for me with Danny Boyle movies

Gary B

Ok 😁 As you might noticed I'm on a project since April. I want Cassie to do a reaction of Fucking Åmål (aka "Show me love" in the US). I guess you have seen it. I donno if you liked it or not, but I harass every Swe, Nor or Dan in the comments. 🤪🤪🤪 So I wonder if you could request this movie in popcorn request??? Det skulle betyda mycket 🥰🥰🥰 Om du vill alltså 😆😁 som sagt, den heter show me love här.

Björn Karlsson

Yes sir :)

Movieswede

Ahhh there you are!! 😉😉 (I saw you among the users of popcorn request) A silly question: are you swedish?? 😉😄🤪 (here we go again 🥴)

Björn Karlsson

Thanks for reacting to one of my absolute favourite movies! The first time I saw this, around a year after it came out, I just thought my copy of the movie was really bad :) Now I totally get and can appreciate the artistic choices. Here are some thoughts I had during this movie. Cassie was afraid of the blood and the kissing, but Jim never really had "infected" blood on him. I guess that’s why they felt secure kissing. 28 Days Later's "Virus" is in my opinion one of the scarier things about this movie. You are safe as long as you don't get cut, bit or get it in your eye. And then it’s downhill superfast. Unlike The Walking Dead where everybody is infected and "turn" after they die. This also I think explains why they managed to isolate the UK. I also highly doubt all of the soldiers were actual soldiers. Maybe they were young recruits or something, but they really didn’t feel like hardened veterans. I trust military men to be a bit more professional than that. Anyways I hope you watch 28 weeks later sometime. It's a decent sequel to this movie. It's got a great cast Aswell as a higher budget.

Movieswede

To answer your question Cassie, this movie was made with an 8 million dollar budget. So yes, it was a small project that blew up.

KTVindicare

Intense movie. Definitely makes you think what would you do. Great review Cassie.

Rick Williams

I I’m a fan of this movie but I was a little surprised it won tbh considering what it was up against. Not sure if people voted for it hopping it would scare her more than the others. And if you did well it back fired as Cassie did awesome and I actually think she is getting better with these types of films.

Dean Holt

Having been to London a few times over the years it still amazes me how they were able to make the city look deserted, considering how congested and busy it is. FYI, for the London scenes the police would close the roads at 4am and filming would begin. Then they'd re-open them at 5am. Amazed to see you watching this one! You've come a long way from a year ago! Awesome! Keep it up! Love yo see you expanding your repertoire!

Adam Hendry

I've seen 28 DAYS LATER a million times and it was a wise choice to bench Carly if this is what the rest of October looks like.

Dave Sees Movies

I forced myself to watch this because of Cassie and it was better than I expected. I liked the chemistry with the 4 characters before they reached Manchester. The whole thing reminded me of a Walking Dead storyline.

Ian Cano

But the military guys were scarier than the zombies. Maybe that was the point of the film. The real monsters are us.

MikeLL

28 weeks later...not as good as this but it does have the best start ever to a horror movie

Ewanbhoy Martin

there is an alternative ending which is very sad ...i like the ending with hope

Ewanbhoy Martin

Hi Cassie you should consider reaction to "28 Weeks Later", the sequel. Its starring Jeremy Renner a.k.a. Marvel's Hawkeye a.k.a. the "Analyst", in Mission Impossible 4 and 5 , close Team member of Tom cruise and the main characters

Matt Chris

Not brave enough to watch this myself first so watching for the 1st time with your reaction

Matt

Damn girl. You are brave. Never thought you’d watch this one. Carly would love it 😁

Mark Harrell

The first half is better than the second, which is why I've always had a mixed opinion of this movie. Even while I originally watched it back in the early 2000s I thought that it went off the rails a bit after the army shows up.

Caomhan84

Brendan Gleason has been in so many films. Loved him as Hamish in Braveheart

Nicole

"I need to learn more life skills." haha

Philip Alan

I haven't watched this movie since it was released and when I think of it the first thing that pops into my head is *SPOILERS FOR THOSE WHO STILL HAVEN'T SEEN IT* Frank realizing after the drop of infected blood hits his eye that he only has about 20 seconds before he turns and telling his daughter that he loves her. I think it's moments of humanity like that make this movie (or any movies like these) work for me. In the midst of the darkness and the violence and the chaos, finding the little grace notes that give it soul. Though I didn't vote for it (once again, I was a SCREAM and/or MISERY supporter and I hope you get to those eventually), I thought you handled it very well. Intense, I know, but good. Great cast too. Good job recognizing Cillain Murphy from RED EYE and INCEPTION (he's actually a Christopher Nolan regular appearing in DUNKIRK and the Dark Knight trilogy as well), Naomi Harris (Selena) is in the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN movies and also plays Moneypenny in the Daniel Craig Bond films, and if Brendan Gleason (Frank) looked familiar, it's probably because you've seen him in MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 2 and the Harry Potter series.

Stick Figure Studios

DOCTOR SLEEP is great, but a non-ststarter for Cassie

Stick Figure Studios

I got to 29:57 and had to stop, way to realistic especially after 10pm..that first five minutes was insane,Gorillas and Orangutans are cool but I'm scared of Chimpanzees..I'll be back tomorrow daylight time..

Celeste McAllister

night of the comet another not so scary 80s zombie movie

zynjams

the best unknown horror movie from the 80s is dead and buried. it will be too scarry for Cassie. lets see the rest of you watch it

zynjams

Hmm, that into gave me weird Buffy vibes. Also those earrings were dope.

David RedEagle

Yeaaas react to the sequel "28 Weeks Later"

Matt Chris

Well us horror fans only get one month outta the entire year where Cassie will react to horror. The other 11 months are for the horror haters. Lol don’t worry it’s almost over and we will be back to action and romance movies.

brooke atkins

Fun fact: the Hungarian dub completely changes the ending thus the entire tone of this movie. In this version the mostly inaudible radio chatter of the pilot is replaced with the clearly noticeable "The situation is unchanged, I have nothing to report" message, giving it an indication that they have not been spotted and won't be rescued.

Gábor Árki

SUNSHINE is great.

Matt Rose

Nice reaction Cassie. Your right not as scary as I remember. Hurts when you see how people throw away decency because there is no society left. I was super impressed again with how you have grown from October 2021 to October 2022. Almost 2 different people.

David Freese

Cassie goes for her Elvira-lite Mistress of the Dark and hostess of scary movies impression. 28 Days was pretty shocking when it first came out. The sequal wasn't bad, but I was like... how could you let this happen again.

Richard Bourne

I hope you give Misery a shot. Just watched it again recently after a coworker brought it up and it really is great despite hinging on bad police work. You do like the Stephen King stuff. Throw in Doctor Sleep. All I’m saying 🥶

Mark Daniels

Totally thought this was going to be a reaction with your sister, and I was thinking there would be no way she'd be able to make it through this movie. Probably for the better haha, you've definitely grown to have the stronger will from your time with the channel!

Astraeos

Scream is so overrated. I have no idea how those movies are popular. There's a million better slasher movies out there, including the OG's that started it all. Misery though, definitely agree with you there. Gonna be honest though, I don't think it has a Halloween vibe at all. I don't think any of those psychological horror movies mesh well with Halloween, personally.

Astraeos

I'm sorry this isn't on point exactly but it is in the outer ring of the target. When PIB ran LA Confidential Cassie wondered who Veronica Lake was. Kim Bassinger's character was a hooker who looked like VL. I just watched a good classic movie starring VL. It's called I Married a Witch. It was made in '42 and was the inspiration for the TV show Bewitched. It's a scary-ish comedy that would be entertaining for both sisters. I don't know if it's too late to schedule it but it's pretty cute.

Christopher Carr

Glad you enjoyed it. Looking forward to watching your reaction. Another suggestion from the same director (Danny Boyle) would be Sunshine. Great movie if you ever get around to it.

Brian Jones

This was definitely less scary than I remembered it being. And I agree the first half is much stronger than the stuff with the military.

Johnny Liu

One of the dumbest plot points though

20 16

Didn’t think I was going to enjoy that, but was happily surprised. I really enjoyed that ending. IF a surprise pandemic happened, I imagine that I would learn how to cook some personal favorite dishes and watch a lot of reaction videos on the internet. (wink emoji)

Uncle Phoenix

I was really hoping for Lost Boys to win because I think you'd enjoy that the most out of the final four. It has a more playful tone and has some familiar faces from other movies you've reacted to

Neill Shaughness

remember to add the sequel "28 Weeks later" to your list!! :)

ed209

Aghhh!! Be glad when this month is over. 🤣 I really really dislike scary movies. (don’t hate me for it)

Ike

Yeah Scream or Misery would’ve been a better choice. And yes, I’ll keep banging that drum until at least one of them get watched.

Shehab Dawoud

Also I should add shooting on tape like they did saved them tons of time. When shooting on film you need to carefully control the light so your film is being properly exposed and looks right. You don’t know what you got for sure until it gets back from development. With tape whatever you see on the monitor is what you get and you don’t have to worry about the light as much.

djKENTO

Great movie. The sequel (28 WEEKS LATER) is absolutely worth watching as well. Indeed, the opening 10 minutes or so of 28WL may be one of the most intense 'zombie' sequences you'll ever see.

Matt Rose

This movie is shot on old video camera tape for aesthetics but also because it was very low budget. Only 5 million pounds. The director hasn’t had huge success yet. Train Spotting was a cult classic but his first big studio film The Beach with Leonardo DiCaprio was a commercial and critical flop. This let him get back to his grittier, dirty style and shooting on tape kept the budget way down.

djKENTO

Director Danny Boyle was coming off a financial flop with a huge studio movie, THE BEACH. He wanted to creatively reinvigorate himself and shot two BBC movies with mini-DV cameras, the type most everyone owned in the early 2000s. He decided to make 28 DAYS LATER with the same DV cameras. It would also help shoot the scenes very quickly and inexpensively where the large, public streets look abandoned. Only the last scene is shot on regular 35mm film. But it was mostly a personal artistic statement. Boyle would even take his DV camera and shoot an extra shot in his yard while editing the movie: the POV of the infected zombie running toward the house and jumping through the glass window to attack Jim. Instead of having several studio execs telling him what to do, he could creatively express himself the way he wanted on a lower budget.

Alex Villarreal

You better get stocked up. Good thing there are Desert Farms near you. Grab a can of apples for me!

Jason Fulbright

I've been waiting for this. Im a huge Sandra Bullock fan... uh... wait, what? Crap.

Variable38

I wish sometimes I could live in a world like that. No rules, total anarchy
