[YT Edit] Top Gun (1986)

I'll be watching the new Top Gun tomorrow so I had to rewatch not only the movie but Cassie's reaction to prepare myself. :D

I always love your reactions. 🙂 So to answer some of your questions (others have probably done so, but hey). 1) The "back seat pilot" is the RIO (Radar Intercept Officer). They aren't pilots but pretty much handle navigation and the weapons systems radars and such. Kind of like R2-D2 when he's flying with Luke. 😉 2) They're sweating so much because there's no AC, several people in a small room with no ventilation, and the humidity is sky-high, plus stress. 3) We aren't at war with anyone in the scope of this movie, but all militaries (not just the United States) get into skirmishes / light confrontations / staring matches with other countries all the time that could go south (spark a war) or nothing much happens aside from some "Oh shit!" moments, and we (the non-military civilian) will never, ever know about them. Loved your reaction. One of my fave 80s movies. 🙂

Cassie already did a full length reaction to Red October, and it's really good. I read the book in high school, then the movie came out while I was in the Navy on a submarine. I served on USS DRUM (SSN 677). We used to watch it quite a bit while out to sea. Das Boot also, of course.

If you get the chance, I would highly suggest you watch the upcoming sequel in theaters. Got to see this one with my mom in the theaters and it was incredible.

When I went to the Navy Hospital Corps School in the mid 90s, the Command Master Chief used to play the Top Gun soundtrack every morning at 0600 over the PA. Even on weekends 😐
