In addition, the relic is used to erase any memory of Salem from the world as if she never existed. To ensure that none of her followers would try to release her.

However, Salem is still a powerful being. Even trapped in her rubber tomb. So to make sure Salem remains in there forever, Cinder manages to convince Emerald to regularly cast an illusion on the trapped villain. The illusion convinces Salem that her rubber prison encasing her is the warm embrace of her ex-husband Ozma. The rubber sarcophagus keeps the effect of Emerald illusion for a very long time.

In short, she no longer identifies the rubber tomb as a prison but as the warmth and love of her beloved ex. This makes sure that Salem is a direct contributor to her own permanent entombment, as she no longer feels any desire to leave such a warm and cozy place. She is happy to remain there forever.

Note on the bondage elements: Salem is first encased in skintight bondage bag layer (looks bouncy and inflatable), the second layer is then rubber goo that forms the "outer shell" of the sarcophagus. The outer shell has a replica of her face. And that face will change expression to smile when she starts feeling good because of the illusions.
