A life lesson - Part One (of two)

This is Raquel

She is 35 years old, married, mother of 2. She has Strabismus, which is a visual disorder in which the eyes are misaligned and point in different directions.

She is back at her old school, reflecting on years ago when she was a pupil here.

She was a bright very polite, well-mannered child. Popular with the other kids. But, because she was a little different. Because of her condition. Some idiots would make fun of her. Some of the kids would tease her. Some would say, "There's Raquel. She has one eye looking at you, and the other one is looking for you" They were horrid, hurtful words. To this day, it upsets her.

But one day in particular stands out

The day when it all came to a stop and the day she first noticed Michael.

It was also the day when Richard learned a hard lesson in life.

Richard was a legend in his own mind. The class clown, the joker, the troublemaker, the class bully.

He had a mobile phone, which he would bring to class, and watch videos and listen to music. He would disrupt class and spoil it for the other kids who wanted to learn.

One of whom was Raquel

On this day she had had enough and told Richards so.

SHUT UP YOU FREAK he shouted at her.

Raquel was scared

But then Richard did the boss-eyed thing.

This made Raquel ANGRY

Also, in the classroom, observing this, was Michael

Michael had also been a victim of Richard's hate campaign. He was taught by his parents who unfortunately suffered the same level of abuse, that people who carry out these attacks are just vile ignorant creatures. Not worthy of a response, not worth getting in trouble for.

But that is easier said than done and for Michael,

it was time to take a stand.

Whilst the idiot was standing there with a stupid look on his face
