The wording did sound familiar so I guess that's the reason... Makes sense to focus on it being about Tommy at this point. But I still would say that the doors still are open for other interpretations that would make just as much sense.

2024-11-19 12:57:02 +0000 UTCmy biggest issue is in the end buck tells tommy he was trying to get his attention that whole time but just before that buck told maddie he was trying to get eddies attention… on top of that buck lifting weights in front of eddie literally had nothing to do with tommy😭 how was that getting his attention. idk i just hope that comes back up eventually bc even tommy was like “my attention?” like it doesn’t make sense. u can definitely make the tommy argument off the other scenes but the weight room scene is crazy.

I have been waiting since April 4 when it aired on ABC. I somehow missed that Buck was bi. Until, he started stuttering . And somehow I missed the past references in the show as well. I guess my massive crush on Oliver Stark and Ryan Guzman distracted from the bi references throughout the show. Also, that's Lou Ferrigno's son!

2024-11-17 02:21:07 +0000 UTCI wouldn't necessarily say "it was always about Tommy", I still think it could be about both Eddie and Tommy but I do think it's great how different interpretations that make sense can exist for this episode. Yes he clearly showed interest in Tommy even before Eddie showed up so it would make sense that it was always about getting his attention. But also, he could be projecting his feelings for Eddie onto Tommy without realizing as he did also try to be noticed by Eddie when Tommy wasn't around. Or also it can be a combination of feeling attracted to both of them (and not necessarily realizing it) and ending up in an even more complicated mess of feelings. But either way, knowing how the episode ends, I agree that Buck being interested in Tommy definetely doesn't come as out of nowhere as it may seem on the first glance.

Also by Bobby Begins Again he was shown to be friendly with Hen and Chimney so I always thought it was obvious that he did start acting better after Chimney saved him and even if we weren't shown the apology on screen it was clear that he had changed. That being said I can see both perspectives on him and don't really have a firm opinion on him myself.

There’s a scene right after he comes back from Boston where he tells Hen that he apologized to him. I missed it the first time too but caught it when I watched Travis’s reaction. Should they have shown it on screen? Yes. But at least they mentioned it.

I also think that if he had been on for more episodes before this one, it would have been good to see more development. As someone offended by comments that character made, that he never apologized for, it was hard for me to enjoy having him on my screen. But that is just me, no judgement to others that view him differently even if I don’t agree ❤️

I adore buddie's relationship whether romantic or not. Also, not becoming romantic wouldn't make what they have any less meaningful or important imo, either direction the show decides to take is fine by me as long as they all end up happy. I do very much enjoy the chemistry between Tommy and Buck as well so I kinda can't lose as far as ships are concerned. (three cheers for multi-shipping, amiright?) Anyhow, I knew your reaction to this episode would be super fun to watch and you did not disappoint. :-D

2024-11-16 18:48:39 +0000 UTCUnfortunately, I was spoiled for what happened in this one when I originally watched. I was so mad. On one hand, I’m thrilled for bi representation. On the other, Tommy has made no apologies up to this point for contributing to the racist, sexist environment the 118 was when he was there. Oh you were jealous of what a family the 118 has become? Well, maybe you should have done your part to make it better back then. Being afraid to come out is not an excuse for being a dick. It seems like all of the 9-1-1 fandom is foaming at the mouth for Buddie, but it’s nice to see some people here who, like me, wouldn’t care if they never got together. I think they have a strong friendship. Also according to the producers, the original Harry actor left because he wanted to try new things. Which is fair. He’s a creative, and playing the same role for a long time probably gets old. So there was no drama, unlike with Michael. Ugh.

What a fucking historical TV moment that was (especially considering how it was a widespread headcanon that he was bi, and now it is CANON <3) and I think that loft scene is utter perfection. The lighting, the music, Oliver & Lou's performances, the way they start off with distance between them, but as they keep talking, they just get pulled in more and more towards each other-- just beautiful. Like yeah I was a Buddie gal, but I genuinely came to absolutely adore Bucktommy/Tevan due to this episode and you will never catch me badmouthing it, due to the importance of this episode. This episode made so many queer men feel seen and that is what matters most of all. This is bigger than fictional ships, so here's hoping this space will remain positive and not full of character bashing. And, oh god, as a bisexual myself... Buck's "I am free" upon realizing this deeply personal thing about himself, with his eyes all teary - yeah that has me sobbing on every rewatch. BTW rewatch the episode with the knowledge that it is Tommy that Buck is yearning for, because it actually still makes sense. The showrunner purposefully crafted the episode like this (it is called a bait-and-switch) and yeah, the hints ARE there. It was always about Tommy.
