Happy New Year! MAJOR News!

Hey, everyone!

Happy New Year, I hope you all had such a wonderful 2024 and we hope you all have an even better 2025.

I want to talk about what you can expect for A Town Uncovered in 2025. But I also want to talk about how we got here and take this time to reflect on the project because it will soon be coming to a bittersweet end.

Long-story short, we want to aim for a FULL release by the middle of February, to align with Valentine's Day.

It's been 8 years in the making, it feels so weird saying that, like has it really been that long? It really has. The first ever demo release was in December of 2016 and it was the very first time I ever worked on game of any sorts. I was heavily inspired by DC's game, and wanted to bring my own flavor and twist to the western-porn adventure sim genre.

It was a very ambitious task, much more ambitious than I could ever handle. And yet, you all loved the game for its unique art style and the care we put into making you fall for the characters.

There were so many struggles with the game, and will I be proud of what has been accomplished come February's release? Yes, but also no. There are so many things that were beyond my skillset and a lot of issues arose as the game grew in size and scale. Like a beast that refused to be tamed no matter how hard I tried.

I've had plenty of burnouts and I'd be lying if I said that developing for this game gave me any ounce of joy. There were so many aspects of the game I wish I had done differently if only I had the knowledge and experience I now have when I first started. If you go into a big project just 'winging it', you're doomed to fail.

Here are the list of things I wish I had sorted out from the very beginning of ATU's development:

And you know what? Instead, I took all that and put it all into my current game, Sugar Service! Plus way, way more! If you haven't checked the game out yet, and you're a big fan of A Town Uncovered, you won't be disappointed. It's been in development for about 2 years now and it is honestly leagues better in quality and game polish and I get so excited working on it, knowing that this is the game I wish A Town Uncovered had become.

For all of January and half of February, I'll be working non-stop of getting all the remaining assets and code needed for this game, in the game. All bugs or scenes that appear broken or missing something, please report it so I can get to fixing it.

I'm really excited to have this project out of an alpha state and into a full release state. I will probably be doing minor fixes and polishes throughout 2025 as well as adding a few more fan-favourite character scenes as post-development content, but I cannot be more happy to say goodbye to ATU and put my full, entire focus on my current and future projects.

Future projects include finishing my 'I'm on Observation Duty' inspired NSFW game in time for Halloween and a steam release, and a deck-building, roguelike, DnD-inspired Futa-Valkyrie RPG game which is still in its prototyping phase.

We want to thank everyone who has been on this ride with me, whether you're an OG from the very beginning, a newcomer, or someone who pops in every few months to see what's new. It's been a ride for sure. This isn't a goodbye from me, but it will soon be a goodbye to this game's development.

Once again, thank you for your continued support and reading the entire post, you're a real one.

Happy New Year! MAJOR News!
