SZ Vol II Page Process Preview
Added 2024-07-24 21:00:24 +0000 UTCWhen I tell say I never planned for my comic to EVER be printed I'm not joking. This page is an example of the vertical WT layout not really working in a page-by-page layout (So I reworked/redrew it).
This scene is one of the first I drew after I quit my day job to focus full time on SZ + it's very crucial to the story. Despite my layout assistant doing her best (she really is a wizard) I felt the original layout lacked a lot of the "scale" of Clove sitting on the ledge. I did my best to redraw it and edit these panels as best I could. Some of the "WHOOSH" SFX have been removed to show off the redraw but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless (and if you hate it feel free to let me know in the comments haha).

Huhu I would say I didn't really know. What happened was WT approached me with a print deal (similar to the Unscrolled Webtoon Deals that have been coming out), however that fell through for various reasons. I ended up reaching out to an agent who then pitched the series to various different publishers. Once the deal with Onipress was signed, Onipress then pays to reformat/print/distribute the series. It's honestly been such a roller coaster but it's likely because this is my first time. There was also the option of self-publishing but you run into all sorts of issues there as well (mainly distribution). Webtoon Unscrolled has it's perks for sure but I felt the structure/layout/quality of the book was set in stone and I wanted a little more control over it.
