SZ Volume I Interior Sneak Peek!

She's Here!!!! (ALMOST)

Since some of my readers at Tokyo X got to flip through the SZ Volume I book I thought it would only be fair to give you all a sneak peek of it as well!!

Please keep in mind that I recently purchased a camera + lights because I felt my phone camera pictures would not do this book justice and they're still not even close to how I see the actual thing.

I casually selected a few random pages as well as some of the interior illustrations and quick look into the backmatter pages! I included a bit more info in there including character birthdays and closeups of the the dragon tattoos, plus any character notes ^^ There is so much more that I wanted to share but I told myself I would reel myself in to keep the other surprises special! '

Usually the paper type and quality is left up to the publisher so I was actually terrified the book would print really poorly or the paper type would not be shiny enough bring out the coloring of the usual SZ style... but I was pleasantly surprised!

The pages are shiny/glossy but not so much that there is a glare when reading. The cover also has a satin finish with spot gloss over Clove's dagger and the SZ logo. Below, I have included some of the potential covers that we had to chose from when designing the book. The three options with placeholder art can be found below:

Obviously I went with the 3rd choice (Option 1 was also close, I stole the "1" design since it stood out to me more). It's very surreal for me to see these 3 "test" versions and have the final product sitting on my table after all these months.

But yes, I'm very happy with the quality and I'm so thankful and happy OniPress did not cheapen out when printing this book. (I'll vouch for this even more because my friend's 5 year old nephews drew all over Clove's face while I had my back turned for 2 minutes and magically I managed to wipe it off with dish soap and a rag. Crisis averted and the book wasn't even damaged?!! (some of the pen indents are still there but none of the ink, I think the satin finish really helped keep it waterproof)

So there... I'm sure I've harped on about this book for months now. I really REALLY hope you guys enjoy all the effort and care we put into this book and if you're down to pre-order a copy I would be eternally grateful! <3 (I know many of you already have and it warms my heart).
