"Incontraception" v0.666—Behind the Scenes Rambling

Some thoughts on making V0.666 of Incontraception. Should you be curious, read on...

V0.666 was straightforward: add a new (harder) stage, add another before impregnation and after impregnation scene, finish up and post. Easy, right? Almost.

• Overall, nothing was problematic other than implementing the save system. I wanted a save system that allowed you to make progress in one level, but not change your progress in any other level. I also didn't want a system that let you cheat completion for level 1 by only completing level 2. Letting people cheese MY game? No way.

The game should now record progress for each level individually, so you can complete the 2nd level but the 1st one will still require beating. Unfortunately, save progress does not carry over from one version of the game to the next. I am considering implementing a secret password for people to enable their current progress in a new version of the game, but this would also allow people to just unlock content without even playing the game. So I probably won't do that. No free lunch, dood.

• The game seems to not suffer lag with two levels in the same file, but I'm not sure how well the game will work when the final third stage is added in, or even the additional Patreon Deluxe content. If it begins to lag, I'll have to add the Deluxe content into a separate file, which sucks as I hoped to have that content be the ultimate unlockable, for those who complete all stages without dying. Maybe I'll have to do the password system for that. But we'll see what happens when we get to that point in the project. I'll do some pressure testing on the file, see what happens. Here's hoping it will all fit...

• Slightly nerfed Caelie's hips in the first scene. Heresy, I know. But I want them to get bigger as the game goes on, and having them super huge from the first scene dampens the impact, so they were reduced. I may reduce them further for future updates, so if you want to see the full un-nerfed hips, you should go check out V0.333. That's a good reason to visit the old updates, right?

• Currently, the planned Patreon Deluxe content for Incontraception is the New Game + mode for each level, meaning only Deluxe patrons can play the game with the lives system and unlock those bigger tums. The public version has the New Game + mode stripped out of it (I even removed it from the code lol).

• Additional content for the Deluxe will be completely exclusive scenes, which will include a sex scene and a birth scene. Those two scenes will make this a solid project all round, in terms of pregnancy content. From sex to impregnation to pregnancy and then birth...everything is there! Hopefully I can fit them all into one file, without slowdown. Probably won't happen, but I'll try!
