RWBY - Vol. 7 Ep. 7 + 8 - Reaction (Full)

Comments

Blake's body language in certain scenes is always telling. She does a thing where she crosses one or both arms across her stomach, holds on to the opposite arm, and sort of folds-in on herself while her ears droop. Sort of a protective self-hug. It's really interesting to go back and watch who she does and doesn't do this with. She'll do it around team RWBY, at times, when she's anxious or the scene is tense, but not as often. Sort of like her becoming more friendly and open and willing to assert herself more. She only, rarely still does this around Yang. But she's doing it in the truck. In fact, it's the most closed in on herself she's been in awhile. It's got to be because she expects Yang to dismiss her thoughts. Considering her last partner, it's reasonable to think she's not used to being listened to in cases like this and certainly not to have her partner agree to what she wants to do. Also Yang does a thing where she makes sure, when the conversation gets more serious, to look Blake in the eye. She also tries to keep her eyes soft and gentle in those moments. This one is, no question, because of Adam keeping his eyes obscured. Even way back when, Blake asked Yang to look her in the eyes and tell her she didn't attack Mercury out of nowhere. Yang knows it's important to Blake. She does that here and you can tell it's deliberate, because she literally has to turn her body around to do it.

I keep refreshing the schedule because I am really interested to learn how you are dividing up the rest of the Volume because there are only 5 episodes left. I would love for the next reaction to include the next three episodes because having a break after Epsisode 11 would be perfect imo. But I also know that three episodes in one reaction isn't really ideal so either way I am excited to see you react to the rest of Volume 7 however you choose.

Elijah, I'm happy to see your enthusiasm because it has made me excited about RWBY again. And I love your takes because it's not laced with pre-existing biases. It's a fresh take from someone who hasn't had a past history with the fandom. And if you can continue to shield yourself from them, all the better. So this is a bit of a "Thank you" and a "heads up." Despite having seen everything RWBY related and owning every single piece of media on it (Blu-rays, Books, etc, etc), I was about to quit the fandom as well as reactions because of people's "interesting" takes and some controversial ones. I was ready to turn away from everything RWBY related and pretend this franchise never existed,....BUT your excitement for the show and each of the episodes brought me back despite all the negativity I always see. The world is already a negative place so it sucks when someone harshes your mellow, right? Like what happened to escapism? But I digress. This is minimal at best right now since you're just starting this Atlas Arc. But, a heads up that these volumes 7-9 have a way of bringing in some the detractors. Hopefully it doesn't turn into a Reddit or Twitter space but just warning the MODs. And hopefully if it does happen, then it's a tiny fraction. Perhaps I might be jumping the gun, but wanted to warn just in case. I hope it doesn't ruin your experience with RWBY. And if I'm wrong, then that would be the best thing. Everyone has their opinions and that's fine but I'm so tired of the "hate" threads on Reddit and Twitter dedicated to Yang. Yes there are threads dedicated to singling out all of a character's shortcomings while every other character has them too. So yeah, a few of us might get a little defensive And have our own knee-jerk reactions since the RWBY-Gestapo police likes to lurk. So I wanted to say thank you for your lovely reactions. Someone had pointed them out to be awhile ago and I was curious one day on Youtube and was amazed with how much media literacy oozes from your analysis. I swear some people aren't familiar with story conventions so to see your takes was like coming back home to a good home cooked meal LOL. So that's when I decided to join your patreon. Never regretted it since.

In the time between 6 and 7, the FNDM latched onto the idea of a Prom Night Part 2 where everyone got all dressed up for a gala type situation like episode 8 XD I remember a lot of art of Yang wearing a suit lol
