I think the reason people tend to point at Mabel specifically when talking about selfish actions more than Dipper is because most of his are done in season 1 and he seems to learn from it, so his selfishness is less frequent whereas with Mabel, she has quite a few in season 2. of course, every character has their moments but because of how things are set it makes it seem like she isn't learning from her mistakes. There are selfish moments for both characters but Mabel's growth as a character is less obvious. There are a couple little stories in the graphic novel that I really wish were made into episodes because they help to even out the character growth. but then again, they're both twelve I think they both deserve some leeway when it comes to being selfish people who are much older have done worse because of selfishness.

2024-01-28 15:31:48 +0000 UTCHonestly, I also really dislike the "girl is boy crazy" trope but for some reason it doesn't bother me as much in gravity falls and I think that's because it leads to some really funny hijinks like the mermando episode was just so funny to me and the puppet show in this one is absolutely hilarious. I will also say there were times where Dipper put his crushes over Mabel too like that time he was willing to sacrifice his sister's new pet for a "chance" with Wendy and that time he wanted to ditch Mabel on their favorite holiday just to go to a party that Wendy was going to and those actions even summoned a monster that went after them. People often single out Mabel for this behavior but don't mention it when Dipper does the same. The thing I love about gravity falls is that neither twin is perfect and they both have moments where they act selfishly but at the end of the day they both clearly love each other and would do anything for each other. Their relationship is definitely the heart of the show and I love how it's portrayed. Anyways, I really loved your reaction and canβt wait to see you get to the more lore and story heavy episodes!
