Attack on Titan Season 4 Episode 18 Reaction

Great analysis. I 100% agree. I was rewatching the scene and I had a need to tell anyone who hasn't watch AoT about it, didn't act on it in the hopes somebody will ever watch it πŸ˜…And I was like "ok how do I tell them that a indoctrinated and brainwashed kid was all about killing the devils and after experiencing those devils her phrase was 'they aren't any devils in this island, only humans". That scene is so simple that anyone who doesn't follow the show would be confused on why it's so important and yet is such a powerful one for us who are seeing the confloct. I think that one is up there among my favorites, WITH Berthold speech and transformation and Eren at the end of Season 3 all heartbroken. I think the mysteries carried the first 3 seasons but character development and actions carry the show ever since

IT WAS beautiful and amazing when Gabi said wait, like you said. She joins many other side characters, like Ymir, Historia, with well written arcs as they develop and grow and finally change to act in their beliefs. Gabi's arc was not forced, it made sense, it felt earned, it was extremely emotional and traumatizing in the restaurant for her, for us, That moment with Nile helping Falco is heartfelt and one of my favorites. And for poor, poor Kaya, who embodies the cycle of violence now, after being so kind. All the characters change.... Even more minor characters had great writing with heavy, complex motivations, like Marcel trying to save his brother from becoming a Warrior and Moblit saving Hange, they gave us well developed moments. Even Floch, a coward when we met him, is now all in for the benefit of Paradis, and Bertholdt, first quite, timid and a follower, crying facing his betrayed friends, then changed to became strong in his convictions at the end. Kenny realizing he was slave too to his dreams, as did Levi, looking down on all those with dreams, when he realized what protecting Eren all those years caused in Paradis now...a nightmare. Mikasa now leaves her scarf behind.... It is a sign of really great writing (thank you Isayama) how we doubt if Armin is being sincere to his friends, or if he is manipulating them to help Eren because it's what is expedient, or if it's because it's truly what he believes. It's because of how engaging the writing and characters are that the episodes go by so fast, and the writing is as special as Eren is hahaha.
