2025-03-18 08:37:13 +0000 UTCI remember my first watch 10 years ago, all I could do was speculate that Luffy and Zoro's villages were on the same island, in fact I thought their home was on the Red Line. But you don't have to do that, lore has expanded and you can now recheck the last frame of the credits of One Piece Live Action ep 8. A canon map of all the East Blue in detail plus Grand Line below that. Zoro's Shimotsuki village was first named post-Water 7, and Luffy's Dawn Island was first named this episode. So many other easter eggs for the fans. The Live Action even name dropped Goa Kingdom twice.

The anime basically decided to "skip" Luffy's flashback with Shanks in chapter 1 and only did it in episode 4, but for some reason they never adapted Luffy punching the sea king, only showing it in the first opening. So in a weird way, they only adapted the last page of chapter 1 in episode 504

2025-03-18 00:25:34 +0000 UTCI have a slightly different interpretation of Shanks losing his arm. I do believe Shanks chose to sacrifice his arm for Luffy, but I don't think it was because he thought it was a good idea to lose an arm, or that it was ever even an option for him to be absolutely sure that Luffy would be safe if he chose to simply attack the Sea King instead of intercepting the Sea King's attack. I think this interpretation better fits Shank's lesson of putting the protection of the ones you love over fighting the bad guy. This also maintains the consistency of power levels in One Piece, because even though Luffy and Shanks can easily defeat this Sea King, the Sea Kings are not supposed to be typical fighters. Sea Kings represent the forces of nature, and I think people can easily underestimate the amount of damage they can do to a person who is unprepared or who is just in a difficult situation, regardless of how strong they are. I think a Sea King can do some serious damage to even some of the strongest characters in One Piece, even if those characters can also do serious damage right back to those Sea Kings. Because I mean it is still a metric ton of muscle coming at you with razor sharp teeth. Just look at how Luffy can still take damage from a random marine wielding a sword.

Luffy will have to move on, just like he already did before, the only difference now is that he doesn't have Ace to pick him up, no does he have his crew. He's with good people now, yes, but good people he has not established a strong bond with yet. I would have loooooved an interaction with Zoro, Kuina, Sabo, Luffy, and Ace as kids, like a whole mini arc just them being involved in whatever down-town hooligan shenanigans.

We're getting close to 10 too, can't wait to see who could join our favorite crew next! And now back to the pain and suffering, I love me some Pain Piece. About character design, Ace's has always been one of my favorites. I love how his design is simple yet there's a bunch of stuff to take in. Tattoos, his harlt, beads, the pouch on his shorts, the knife he's never shown using (still looks cool tho), and the boots. His look could have been plain but the addition of tattoos and accessories makes him stand out in a subtle way that I really like. I especially like that his accessories and tattoos are a variety of colors to stand out against his black shorts and his bare torso. A peak Oda design for sure! Omg I just remembered what the deal was with Ivankov's reaction to Dragon's return to the ship. Looking forward to when you see what that's all about!
