About the food thing: I remember reading an interview where Laura talked how much it bothered her that Rory and Lorelai ate like that and didnβt really exercise because in reality that wasnβt what she and Alexis used to do and that sent a bad message to girls! There you have these two women that apparently only eat fast food and theyβre as thin as can be lol but the showrunner didnβt seem to care about it.

I think some viewers get really angry at Rory or the show because of things she does....later....and those people seem to have the idea that you're "supposed" to give Rory a pass for all of these things. But I don't think so, I think she's meant to be flawed like this. It doesn't mean you have to hate her, but her faults should be acknowledged. And they don't come out of no where. I don't want to say too much, but I've seen people complain about Rory doing "out of character" things later on, and I think you've explained very well why they are wrong. Rory was very flawed from the start. (and that's okay)

2023-04-26 22:15:34 +0000 UTCThis episode highlights one of Rory's biggest character flaws. She does not accept criticism or failure well at all. I think the problem is she has always been put on this pedestal by everyone around her. Count how many times throughout the series she is called" special" or an "angel" or the litany of many other things. Due to this, this is how she views herself too. So whenever she is criticized or fails at something, and in this case is criticized by her mom for how she's treating Dean, she just gets into an argument with her. She also didn't accept responsibility for how she was treating Dean. She was more upset with what was happening with Jess. She cheated on Dean but she cared more about Jess and the girl. In season 1, when she got that bad grade on that paper she had a total meltdown and then blew up in class. Just another example. As for Richard and Emily, I love them but they can be so brutal sometimes because of how they treat Lorelei. They're just very entitled people and have a very set view on how things should be done and it's hard to break that. It's what makes them such great and dynamic characters though.

Imagine being Lorelai and you just broke up with the love of your life. You want your parents to be supportive & protective of you but instead they side with him and judge you. It is just toxic parenting. That scene where Lorelai just walk off with her numb reaction was heartbreaking for me. Anyway Joe, I can't wait for the next episode. One of the most intense episode in GG.
