I can definitely see that! It’s just funny I’ve always looked at the scene at face value in a sense but there is so much more to possibly read into with it that I really never considered. and seeing other perspectives make me see the scene in a whole new way. It’s exciting that every time I watch the show I learn something new. 😊

2020-04-13 05:01:29 +0000 UTCYes, that is what I felt too, but the more I read, I realized that this scene could potentially mean many things. I do believe that the scene has some sort of religious symbolism as per L's quote, but it seems to me that Jesus (L) in this story did not trust Judas (Light). His "sins" seem to be trying to wrong Light this whole time. He feels bad for putting Light through what he did. Then in the very next scene he tries to disprove the theory that you'll die if you don't write names in order to continue investigating Light. So it didn't make sense in that context. I feel as if L used this quote to symbolize Light's sins. His plan to continue investigation Light's sins while potentially manipulating his feelings (which could very well have continued if L didn't die, but we may never know now). It's all a very interesting concept. And seeing as the creator has always avoided talking about this scene in particular, it seems we can only really speculate about what it really means. L is not a consistently religious being. Neither is Light. He is his own God, so it seemed like a strange scene to add in if there were not other implications behind it, you know?

2020-04-13 04:48:16 +0000 UTCI always personally felt like the scene was purely religious symbolism, It’s at least to me especially apparent when L says “it’s the least I can do to atone for my sins.” I had no clue about the fan theories and such lol this was all new to me reading this. Brings some interesting perspectives.

2020-04-13 04:41:21 +0000 UTCFor some reason, I don't think my other comment posted, so I'll explain again lol. The general "fan" theory for the foot scene is pretty much that Light has feelings for L that are beyond feelings for anyone he's ever had. People argue that Light is a homosexual, and there's SO many arguments on the internet about it, especially since in the manga, Light does not like women. He's never described as liking men, but he's very anti-women for romantic purposes. And then of course comes to play the fact that he has no sexual interest in Misa. He could very easily use sex to manipulate her as many sociopaths do to their victims, but he never attempts to. My personal feelings about the situation is that Light is a sociopath, so he can't really truly feel love for anyone. But he's also a narcissist. From the first day, you can see how little he views other people's value to his own. Then comes along L, and it's this man who's kind of on his level. Really, the first person he's ever met that's most like himself. L is as intelligent as Light is,he is able to read him, he's able to get inside his head, which is something that seems to attract Light to him. I think the idea is that L suspects Light is gay or has certain feelings for him that aren't "normal". L literally spends his last minute alive trying to disprove the rules of the Death Note because he still suspects Light is Kira. I think he uses these feelings, feelings that Light may not even realize he has, to manipulate Light into maybe trusting him, or letting his guard down, or saying something incriminating. Some fans think L actually fell in love with Light, I personally don't believe that. These "love story" arguments are backed up by the bible story where Jesus washes Judas' feet right before he betrays him. This scene is obviously representing that in some form, but if it is a direct result of that bible story, it would suggest L finally trusted Light and to the fans, that L loved him, but I don't see that. I don't think L trusted Light, I believe it was a complete manipulation tactic, or even a reference to Light that L knew he was going to betray him. The creator has never denied or confirmed any theory here, but I think there's a lot of information spread online about it. I don't believe Light's sexuality needs to be a discussion because that's not what this story is about. I do think he had feelings for L that he never felt for anyone else because of the fact that L was so far superior to other humans that Light viewed as less than him. He could never view L as less than him, and that was a game changer for him. Sexual feelings? Maybe. Love? In a way, if you believe Light can feel actual love. I don't, but I think he did have feelings that set L apart from other humans to him. The scene is very religious, it's very representative of who Light is and who he becomes later due to his feelings for L. And wow, sorry for this LONG comment. Great reaction. Thanks for reading (if you did! lol).

2020-04-13 04:19:06 +0000 UTCI hope we get at least one. I’d love more of his thoughts on the characters.

2020-04-13 03:57:47 +0000 UTCALSO, back again, have you considered doing a tier list now and then again at the end of the show? To me, it really should be two seperate seasons, but it's cool however you decide to do it. :)

2020-04-13 03:46:47 +0000 UTCI think there's a small clip that could be viewed as a spoiler in the Funeral episode for later ones. The Funeral didn't come out until after the series was over and I haven't watched it a ton, but I believe there is a slight spoiler there.

2020-04-13 03:37:10 +0000 UTCAlso some Manga knowledge, as soon as He falls his last words were “I knew it.” To light then he dies..I’m curious why they decided to leave that out of the anime but regardless I think he always knew he just needed to prove it and he needed to disprove that fake rule then he could convict Light and Misa but Rem wrote the names first, I understand Rem was backed into a corner but you think it’s safer to have himself die and Light be there for Misa? he has proved time and time again that he doesn’t care about misa and he could kill her anytime. I guess Rem felt there was no other choice. So sad 😭😓

2020-04-12 16:12:34 +0000 UTCSorry here to mention it again last time I promise but there is a scene that was cut called L’s funeral that I think is super important to watch at some point. It takes place between this episode and episode 26 It’s on YouTube if you just search it and you don’t really have to react to it if you don’t want but watching it on your own time I think is quite a good idea 😊 can’t wait for episode 27!
