I've wanted to get into 3D printing TPU, as it's so versatile in Fursuit Making, however, I've had a lot of struggles with it, and frankly, I don't have the time right now to dedicate to learning. However, I'd still like to streamline how I do certain parts. In the past, I would cast everything from head bases, to pawpads, tongues and claws however when 3D printing hit the scene I moved away from that. Aside from casting headbases, I've completely moved past casting to the point where I'd completely overlooked/forgot about the possibility of just casting ears. This is hardly revolutionary, as I'm not the first to do this, but it's something that will allow me to get perfectly symmetrical ears without having to fight my printer over TPU.
So I spent some time 3D modeling some ears for Tephra's head and making a mold for them. Once the mold for the headbase has finished printing I'll queue this up for printing at the mini-scale to test the feasibility of the current design before moving to full scale. With any luck, my mold will work first try and we can cast some ears! I'll just need to remember to mirror the mold, to make a left and right ear.
