I've had problems with fraudulent pledges in the past and to eliminate the problem, I've made the change to charge upfront.
New patrons will be charged right away and then on the 1st of every month.
Nothing changes for existing patrons - unless you increase your pledge I believe, in which case the difference gets charged immediately. If you decrease your pledge, the new amount will be charged on the 1st of the next month.
Just a quick PSA. Hopefully this page will be free from content stealing bots now. Though I don't believe there was that much to steal, anyway... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (It's not like I hide all my porn behind a paywall)
