What's coming up // August 2025

It's August and spooky season is creeping closer and closer 🎃 I'm ready for another month of making art and videos! Here's what you can expect from me this month:

This month's tutorial is going to be on soft blending techniques! Lately I've been making a lot of art with a really soft, blurry look - like this rose painting. I use a mix of different techniques for that, and I want to share them all with you! I'll be talking about different tools you can use, but also different design principles to keep in mind when trying to achieve a soft, blended look in your art. I've started brainstorming my ideas, and hope to finish the video before the end of this week!

 I had so much fun doing these glitch studies last month and I want to lean into this effect even more this month! I just love the idea of mimicking the chromatic aberration effect by hand-painting it, and there are so many colors and effects to explore with that. So I'll definitely be further developing this rendering style in August!

I'll be posting WIP versions of all my drawings, from first sketch to final piece. I'll also be recording my process, so you can expect a process video from me! I'll be sure to include information about how I created the drawing, from tools to creative struggles.

This month, we are studying iridescence together! That's the shimmering, rainbow-like effect that you can see on gemstones, bubbles, butterfly wings, and more.

I'll be participating in the challenge as well, and recording my process so you can watch how I created it. I'll also be making a 20-25 minute video in which I dicuss my process, take a look at the art that you created, and discuss common mistakes. That way, you'll be prepared if you want to paint iridescent effects in the future!

I feel like I'm in a good creative flow, so I'm really excited to create more art this month! I'm also going on a short trip to Iceland with a close friend, and hopefully we'll see some inspiring landscapes and views there.
