The cold days are coming! We don’t often get snow here, but I hope these months will bring some snow and ice - it’s always so beautiful to see!
For these speedpaints, I wanted to play around a bit with textured brushes. I don’t use them very often - I tend to prefer clean edges, so I usually stick to my hard round brush and lasso tool. But I feel like that sometimes holds me back when painting landscapes. I want to create more complexity but that’s so hard to do when you have a clean coloring style.
I downloaded Yuming Li’s brush set and decided to experiment with those. I also used some of the smudge and mixer brushes which is totally new for me and I actually really like it! You can probably see Yuming Li’s influence in the color palette of the tree I painted - I’m always enamored with the mix of lilacs and yellow tones in their work. (If you're interested in their brushes, they're 30% off right now if you use the code "30off"! Find them here.)
I want to practice this type of texture a bit more in the future, so hopefully these are the first of many to come that use these types of tools!
