Direct traffic are peole that arrive in Patreon directly (maybe they save into favourites your link). The traffic from Google is "organic search" :) Hope I am useful, I am web designer and SEO and I have some practice whit this kind of statistics.

hey Lauri! I usually keep my art files saved in one folder, and my social media files in another. That way I can always delete social media files without losing the original artwork. I always keep the original versions saved with separate layers!

Hi Lois, Thank you for sharing this with us! I found your process very helpful
especially about managing your work week, micro-posts and posting older work.
This question is about best practice for files and reduced computer clutter.
Regarding artwork with many layers and or alternate copies of your finished
artwork or progress steps, do you save them in your files in layers or as png/jpeg files.... do you keep them full size or reduce them? I've been slowly sorting through
my digital files created over the past few years. Sometimes my paintings have
many layers and for several pieces there are alternate versions with layers that I'd like to keep as well. To reduce hard drive space and clutter, I was wondering what you find is best practice. For instance when you share your steps with us, they usually are smaller png or jpeg files. I'm wondering if that's a more efficient
way to save them as opposed to one piece with many layers and alternates
with many layers?

I think it's good to space it further apart! I usually wait a few weeks before reposting the same painting.

New around here so I wanted to just say thanks real quick and add a minor thing I recently discovered! It turns out the wizards at Adobe have a new way to resize images but you’ve got to enable it in ‘technology preview’ in settings. It’s called ‘preserve details 2.0’ and it’s a marvel. Might be useful for folks! I’ve found it handy

Great video! I think it's a good idea to make several publications of the same painting, but how do you do it so as not to be repetitive? Since the content is of the same painting.

Aw you are so kind thank you T_T <3! And that makes a lot of a sense... I really want to reach that point where it's easier to let it go and just enjoy what I love doing - art! My mental health would really appreciate that so I can focus on bigger priorities. I think having that system will really help see things a lot clearer in my end, build a nice and non-intimidating routine and just make posting feel less of a daunting chore overall! I am hopeful now especially for 2023 :)

Love how you broke it all down and have only 3 posts per week - certainly seems manageable. Looking into Planoly and wouldn't have been adverse to you having a referral code for signing up.

Great content, very helpful! One thing is that you can actually schedule instagram (and facebook) posts and stories in the Meta Business Suite for free.

I'm happy to hear that! your work is fantastic, it's baffling to me that you struggle to find reach on social media. but it's like i said in the tutorial: sometimes the platform is the problem!
what I like about having a system in place for posting is that I can more easily say to myself "I'm already committing as much time as I'm willing to put in, and that's enough." it's easier to see where lack of engagement comes from algorithm changes, rather than my own art / output. it's still hard when engagement drops but it's easier for me to let it go! I hope adopting a similar system wil do the same for you :)

glad you liked it! when I first started prepping my posts in advance, it took me a while to find a good flow and length of time to commit to it, so give yourself time to adapt as well!

I'm happy you liked it! I think restricting yourself to one style can be so limiting creatively and it's such a bad thing to sacrifice your creativity for something as undependable as social media. also, there are lots of artists who have multiple styles that thrive in the industry! it really depends on what kind of work you're looking for.

I’m so glad I finally became a patron - this whole thing, the ending especially (saying you don’t HAVE to post a single type or style) has been pure gold. I always feel a small level of discontent with not having a signature style yet, but never so much as I had earlier this year, when I was snubbed IN PERSON for not having one style. I’m still on that everlong quest for My Style, but it makes me feel better when professionals say it’s okay not to have just one style yet. Especially for social media.

This was so helpful and thorough. A lot of this stuff I feel so silly for not doing already. I'm going to slot in some time during the week to start planning out my social media posts. And I also have not been taking advantage of creating multiple posts from one piece of art as I should be! This was great, thank you for putting this together.

I'm so thankful for this tutorial. It's absolutely helpful and allows me to look at posting social media in a different light and not trying to make new content nonstop to feel "relevant"/burn out. I've been very hung up on posting for years on IG and Twitter because of the nonstop aggressive algorithm updates, eventual burnout and imposter syndrome when I wasn't getting any engagement on my art anymore... which is unfortunate because my line of work relies on me being "online" so editors and potential clients see me. It just felt as if I was doing more work trying to fight the system and curating to algorithm in an unhealthy manner and hating my art in the process than actually enjoying what I love. I know social media changes constantly, but this gives me good insight and ideas on how to tackle it going forward to make posting online feel fun again especially when it comes to promotional of new books and potentially reels of my process. Thank you for this, because honestly people have a lot of "systems" figured out seasonally for different platforms but it doesn't really click in until seeing it in action and I feel motivated just seeing your live demonstration of this. Cheers! <3

I'm so happy to hear that! I'm horrified to hear that IG doesn't reward your content, your work is some of my favorite on there. sometimes the platform is just f*cked sadly. for what it's worth, the algorithm has severely restricted my reach as well, I'm only getting a fraction of what I used to have even though my followers have doubled. it is what it is! thanks for supporting me here and for your kind words!

Loish, thank you for making this tutorial, it is so extremely helpful and an absolute goldmine. I cannot thank you enough. I've been on social media myself for like 15 years at this point, and totally fell out of favour with the algorithms on IG in the past couple of years (and FB, which goes without saying lol). Even though I've tried making a schedule for posts in the past, I found it impossible to sustain for very long because I was missing so many of the critical steps you go into detail about here. I constantly struggle with feeling like my aesthetic niche isn't coherent enough, and feel like IG has been punishing me for it relentlessly for the last 2 years. SO many things you said here resonated with me, but I think the biggest one I've never managed to really understand and apply to my career is the hard line separation between art-making and promotion. I still keep trying to freestyle posting the way I used to years ago only to feel constant disappointment, but I think now I have the information necessary to change the approach and adapt to the changes properly. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
