EARLY ACCESS // factory

Here’s a painting in a style that I hadn’t explored in a long time! I am fascinated by post-apocalyptic stories, but I’m not big on drawing violence/zombies/monsters in my own art, so I want to explore a post apocalyptic world that is more soft and gentle in nature. Maybe this will be part of a series. I referenced a lot of abandoned factories and refineries for this one. Hope you like it!

Those pipes must’ve taken forever to draw lol

Amelia Fins

This feels so much like your older studies of interior spaces! So cool to see that throughline

AC Moony

o.k....I am totally inspired. :)

Lauri Panopoulos Lauridesign.com

This reminds me a little bit of a game called Machinarium. Very nice!

megamaster

Thank you for responding!! I will most definitely be watching them!!

Pierre Brown

This is amazing! i love this slighly darker/moodier versions of your art!

Agnese

hey pierre! yes there are definitely watercolor videos - two of them to be precise! here's one: https://www.patreon.com/posts/process-video-in-42988814 and here's the second one: https://www.patreon.com/posts/process-video-in-42988742 let me know if you need any more help finding videos! I know it can be really confusing considering how much stuff is on here.

Loish

Oh WOW!!! Your skill + patience is incredible!

Grace McCullough

I have a very random question for the artist or anyone familiar with the catalogue on this page. Is there a real time watercolor painting video on here? I’m trying to learn watercolor and the tutorials on YouTube tend to go faster than I need. If there is, I’ll scroll somewhere I find it. Thanks to anyone that responds.

Pierre Brown

Girl! The patience this must have... I can't... OTL

Niquey

This makes me think of Gas Works Park in Seattle. I love the story found between the girl's gentle curiosity and the cat's tension.

Holly Westlund

I will definitely be uploading it as a print!

Loish

thank you! I can't resist adding some chromatic aberration to basically every drawing I do. just because I'm kind of addicted to the photography-like depth it gives. but I try not to overdo it haha, I'm glad you like it on this one!

Loish

thanks so much tyler!

Loish

definitely! i recorded the process for this so I can put together a process video for you guys.

Loish

thank you! it is a bit of a throwback to that style!

Loish

for me personally, working in photoshop is better for rendering. just because I can work at a larger size and I have a big cintiq so I have a good overview of the art! I hope this answers your question!

Loish

thank you!

Loish

ohhh i will definitely check that out!

Loish

This is so awesome!!!! Post apocalyptic scenes are my favorite!! (A fun, lighthearted, visually inspiring post apocalyptic show I highly recommend is Kipo Age of the Wonderbeast if anybody hasn’t watched it yet) ❤️

Jac

COOL!

Rob Callicotte

Amazing detail!🔥

Delinda Arts

Wow this is incredibly amazing!💜 The intricate details with the pipes and the way you used the lighting plus the bigger pipe size right next to the boy to lead the eye to him is just wow😍

Kingsley Onwuchekwa

I seriously love this one! The strong lighting and touch of green is just lovely!

MissChibiArtist

I love all the details! Such a cool idea to explore!

Kas

Omg, I love this one! I love post-apo and industrial inspired art (like steampunk), and it is so great to see you coming up with something like that! I'd love to see more of this kind of pictures. Especially with the plant covered abandoned factories/labs - that would be amazing! :)

Lavena_Art

This is amazing, all those details, the lightning 🤩✨👏🏻👏🏻 I love it

Genesis

This style reminds me of the game the last of us 2 🙀 so beautiful!!

Melissa Sofia Joaquin

Oh this is so wonderful ❤️ Also, question for you (sorry if you've heard this a lot), but do you see a significant rendering capability difference in photoshop vs procreate?

Iva Hian

Wow!! I'd be interested to see what your layers look like for this painting considering how many different intertwining of pipe are going on here!

Morgaine Rae

This really has a good vibe, it reminds me of the cup of coffee piece in your first art book, crossed with all the environment work you’ve been doing lately. It feels like a painting I’d want to step into for a bit.

Emily Cartier

I'd love to draw machinery like this, but I find this level of details overwhelming when comes the time to paint it... if you continue this serie, may we hope for a tutorial and/or time lapse?

Rebecca Cortés

I'm getting Midgar vibes from Final Fantasy 7 game. Very steampunk in my opinion. I love it!

Lynn Zammit Russell

I love how it's so harmonic and calm to look at, even though it has so many details on it! Would love to see more art with this theme :) This is beautiful

Camila del Aguilla

Hi Loish! I absolutely adore the how you used shapes for the tubes and wheels! the lighting, just wooooow!

Raquel Ardon

Ooooh wow, this is STUNNING. So intricate, so many details! I love it.

Alicia

I am blown away! This was unexpected, but it feels so right...I'm struggling to put words to it, but in short, I love it a lot! Thanks for creating this and for sharing it with us!

Tyler

This is so cool!

Gabi Creates

Wow I love the intricacy of the pipes, the sunlight and the plants taking over! Strangely calm and hopeful. Am I the only one getting Spirited Away vibes? 🤔 p.s the cat 😍

Adelle Gough

thanks so much!!

Loish

thanks! i'm not sure how many hours but I'd guess something like 10-14 hours.

Loish

HAHA i really did think of that while painting this!!

Loish

Amazing! I can’t get over the amount of work you can pump out... every piece is incredible, with such creativity & skill. It’s a very cool take on an apocalypse, feels quite like a still from TWD.. not the gory bits, the reality of the world returning to nature where big industry is forgotten. The little hints of chromatic aberration work here... its been done to death atm, but it does have its place, & that’s right here.

Lion Art Studio

Will this be available as a print? I need to hang this in my wall

Juan Gagliardo

Remember the pipes screensaver? This is how it looks now. Feel old yet?

Juan Gagliardo

Love your steampunk paintings! This is awesome!

Rayan A

woahhhhh.. I didn't expect that!!!! Amazing!! I looove how you experiment lately, Lois! How long did it take you? It's so detailed!

Radka Kopecka (radu.k.art)
