Great reaction! This is always the hardest part to rewatch of the series but it's a great point of development for the characters, specifically Subaru. Also, I would definitely recommend watching the OVA episodes as they are cannon to the story, one of them provides essential lore that will be needed for Season 2.

A big part of the thematic genetics of this season is ripping him out of his own otaku delusions and perspectives. This is especially true of how he handles and thinks about other people, not just Emelia.
