I know I’m late but it was starting back in the summer house arc where Taiga was thinking about the dream they both had where she had his “puppies” Or maybe it was starting in episode 2 when she was happy to be called Taiga by him. Or maybe it was the “over dramatic confession” that wasn’t a love confession but was meant to look like it in episode 8 when he almost drown.. They’ve been on this path towards realizing they’re right for each other for a while but you were right to pick up on that it was going to get heavy from the first episode of the GOATed Christmas arc
