They both see each other as rivals in the industry before that, and they both succeeded where the other failed, Akane being successful now and Kana being successful as a child. Now they are rivals in the play, in the industry, and in love. Amazing writing.

I thought Kana's declaration that she WILL be Aqua's fav was a bit cooler in the manga, maybe because there were other people talking or singing and the subtitles drowned her out a bit.
