we all definitely want that Michael! you are forever the optimist, and there is not a thing wrong with that. I havnt given up on him, but its going to take some serious output to get me to believe again in his ability to put out chapters. I certainly hope he finds his muse again. Some of those chapters back in the early days were absolutely fabulous. Even in the early 100's he some amazing ones. Here lately its just seems like its been alot of banal dialog. Not really carrying anything forward or producing any earth shaking revelations. There are so many unanswered questions that he needs to address. So many hanging threads that need to be completed. I dont see how he could have writers block. I mean i could possibly understand if he couldnt string the right words together, but to not have anything to write about, i just cant see that. Maybe he needs to re-read the whole story again and highlight the good chapters and try and figure out exactly what made them good and try to duplicate that. Like I said, Im a big fan overall. The guy has written some amazing stuff so far. I think the visceral response from many people is just a reflection of their hunger for more and better chapters that fill in the blanks that are already there rather than continuing the endless battle. Hopefully this last chapter that has the bad guys zooming off to parts unknown will give them a chance to wrap up at least a few o these loose ends. Foremost being getting Faye back. If he could accomplish that one thing I think he would buy alot of good will from the community.

Back in chapter 170 John’s dad observed the battle with Gahl’ from his dreadnought. He was able to see Larn’s two fleets moving around ‘strangely’ because he was in Larn’s dreadnought, but could not see the other forces. He presumed they were just scouts because no ‘Maliri’ ships were lost before returning to defensive positions around the planet. In hindsight it seems odd that Rahn’ would so easily assume that Larn’s ships were manned by Maliri. He couldn’t see actual Maliri ships any better than Gahl’s forces, so he could not have known they went to salvage Larn’s ships. Nor would he have been likely to suspect that. A Progenitor has never claimed a second thrall race or taken all there ships. Forget assuming… I don’t see how Rahn’ could have guessed Maliri were manning Larn’s ships in a million years. Initially Rahn’ thought Larn’ was the last of the progenitors and was very happy… conveying the urgency about salvaging Larn’s fleets certainly wasn’t shared at that point. Once he learned John had barely defeated his first and Rahn’ tried to kill John I don’t recall there being a sharing of ‘the plan’ to requisition all of Larn’s fleets. Was it mentioned and I missed it? If there is a psychic relationship between a soul forge and all the ships that have been made by it perhaps John having the core of Larn’s soul forge aboard the Invictus means there is a way of ‘seeing’ all of Larn’s ships, including the dreadnought. Rahn’ can see all those ships even buried way inside the nebula so we know conventional sensors are not being used. Rahn’ doesn’t have the very thing that makes seeing Larn’s ships possible… the soulforge core… aboard his dreadnought. It seems like John has an advantage he doesn’t know about yet.

Hey Tef, hope you're doing better. Just want to give you a little positive comment that I love this story to a degree I can't describe, and not even for the smexy parts haha. This has some of the best descriptions of space battle that I've ever read, and all the weapon and ship specs are *chef's kiss* for my brain. On a personal note, since the world is currently on fire, please please bring back Faye soon. We could desperately use her cheer right about now

Brian

Thanks

Great chapter! I did notice a couple instances of "Kaiju" instead of "Kaija". ;)

Bravo! Bravo! A great chapter. The introduction of six new dreadnaughts is a super twist - it raises the stakes! ....The only thing I am worried about is all the disabled fleets of thrall ships scattered over Malari space. They must be outside of Helene's range, and I fear they might have committed suicide before they can be recruited. John went to so much trouble to only destroy their engines, but when will they be able to be rescued?
