I've been working in software development for over three decades, so there! :-) And I hold it depends on what you expect to run into. If I anticipate lots of minor versions, I want things to sort right. Whether sorting numerically or alphabetically, leading zeroes are the way to go. And universal doesn't mean correct. Look at Y2K.

There are plenty of resources you can find to learn about it, but you could start with wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_versioning I have a CS degree and have been working in software development for over a decade, so I'm very familiar with this — it's pretty universal.

2022-07-17 16:35:04 +0000 UTCWhy the nonstandard versioning? Normally it would be e.g. 0.4.0. Using two digits as the minor version number doesn't make sense. That aside, thanks for the update, I'm looking forward to playing.
