Deep Blue (Sea)

Imma be real with yall, I have SUCH a fear of sharks. Jaws and Deep Blue Sea just ruined me as a child. To be fair in like 2006 I was visiting family and we were in the ocean, and all of a sudden you got people and life guards freaking out telling people to get out of the water. I (at the time) wasn't afraid to go out farther then my head (probably about 7feet 8 feet deep) and one of those life guard boats came over and yanked me outta of the water. I guess there was a shark that was swimming around the area. (Coco Beach is where we were) The next day we went and I stayed about knee deep haha, but I also got to see a rocket ship take off so that was really cool.
Now don't get me wrong I absolutely LOVE the ocean but I can't go past waist deep. I start having an irrational panic go through my body and suddenly I feel like I'm drowning. Anyone else have any crazy experiences like that? I also have one with a bear from hiking in Wyoming but I'll save that for another day.

2025-05-22 21:16:38 +0000 UTCA couple months ago I was in Hawaii and went out with a team from shark week and swam with about 30 pretty large sharks in open ocean without a cage. Iβve always surfed and grew up in a great white nursery. The experience was life changing and absolutely made me get in the water more. I know for you that would be nightmare fuel, but these apex predators were within touching distance and not once took a bite or made any motion towards me. For reference about 7 feet and close to 400 pounds each.
