Punk Hazard is an island from the One Piece anime, which I'm a big fan of, this island that was used for world government experiments was the scene of a fight between ex Admiral Aokigi and Admiral Akainu. The fight between the two over who would be the next fleet admiral took days, and because they were both elemental logies (Aokigi ice and Akainu lava) they permanently modified the island's climate. Akainu emerged victorious from the combat, resulting in Aokigi's defection and promotion to Akainu's fleet admiral. The island was practically uninhabited before that and after that the place was even worse to stay, it was also used as a base of operations for Dr. Ceasar Clown, the purple haze is the result of a chemical weapon he was testing and trying to sell in the black market.
