[Infested: RE] Play Test Report

Special thanks to icarussoftpaw, kai_bloodwolf, wolfsire and their friends for helping with the close playtest.
The map feels much more optimized. It also has a decently large space for human players to gun down infested, while the structure is also complex enough for infested players having different strategic approaches through portals. We did find some very broken camping spots but they get all patched very quickly through our playtest-hotfix session.
I notice the game gets very chaotic when the player count reaches 20 and above. As the map is much more concentrated, maybe I should reduce the world size from 18(32) back to 12(24). There were also suggestions raised up through the playtest, some of them will also be implemented into the new build in the next update.
Here's a todo list but just as a reference, they may or may not be included in the next build:
- Bind human player weapon damage buff to how many humans are left instead of how much damage they've dealt. This should make the game more balance and smoothly transition into mid & end games.
- Change the loot box system to a 'find key open locker' system, like the ones in Ghost. This will solve the conflict between spending money on a weapon shop or buying a drop box.
- Remove the drawer and cabinets, and bind the money reward all to killing/infesting. There's really no time for looting the house when the chaos starts, it's also not that exciting to open drawers and cabinets while others are killing zombies, kinda a redundant system that we don't need.
- Buff awoken movement speed and survivability for better final combat experience.
- Replace the current damage system with a gun-based damage system so we can add a knockback effect on gunshots instead of slowing players down.
- A better local leaderboard that not only displays the most kill and most infest players but should also include everyone.
- Lobby leaderboard and a save/load system for players to save their total kill/infest.
- A flexible respawn timer for infested when they are killed. This can be further adjusted at the lobby by the instance owner to tweak the balance.
The new map along with its new mechanics will be uploaded and released in the incoming week.
