Spite were part of the reason, but they were in for the fun of it too, since there's seldom chances for them to join in War Games with no true stakes on their end. One of them had his arm amputated. And ironically the same Elf and Dwarf were the same guys who were trying to woo Eina, Bell’s advisor in previous seasons.
