Yeah no I agree. Rudy cheated and I just don’t really care. Light novel did explain things better though. Rudy being unlikely to recover is more clear and Roxy’s uncertainty in what she should do weren’t super well fleshed out here I feel.

From my perspective yes rudy make mistake, and he will make ton of mistake in the future, but that's why I love mushoku tensei so much where I watch rudy autobyography

Roxy is not in a relationship so i can’t argue that she cheated If the rules were reversed there would be small details that would be different. I don’t care to go into those details because it’s sensitive in nature. Fortunately i don’t need to. We saw Roxy come onto Rudy. Thats scenario i have to work with. And 2nd, meby even more important, that is the one scenario where I can't call this cheating. He litteraly had no input here (pun kinda intended). For cheating to be counted as cheating, at least at some point in cause->effect chain there must be his decision, his will, anything. He did NOTHING wrong (unless we coun't comming to help in the first place, but come on). After the death of Paul and "cascaing" of Zenith my dude Rudy was so extreamly depressed he was borderlane vegetable. And then in that state Roxy came to his room wihout invite, and came onto him. Like really the only "wrong" he did was not resisting...but he was in no state to resist anything in the first place (like really, anyone who had any depression episodes will know what I'm talking abaut, and he was in MUCH worse state than most of us ever were), but even if you don't buy it and say he always should have enough will in him to resist...come back to point 1, and reverse roles in your mind...like come on, you won't be tryin to make this argument in 2024 will you? PS. And all that wihout even taking into consideration what status Roxy have for him...like come on

I have read to the end now so it's defiantly no longer my favourite but I still get an irrational disgust from this whole situation. The worst part is that there is no individual person who's completely at fault, just a really shitty situation caused by multiple factors and that everything else, including the emotional impact and storytelling is incredible. I had dealt with the moral part of the books after coming back from dropping the books on volume 2 and restarted, but in my mind, this is where they crossed my moral line causing me to drop the book series a second time before picking it back up two years later. Don't get me wrong, I'm nor religious or completely against polygamy, Its just that in this situation, it is unmistakably cheating on his wife the moment he accepted her advances as well as the other party knowingly instigating this situation, regardless of the reasons. Of corse there are multiple circumstances involved as stated earlier which just makes this a fucked up situation in which I understand the authors meaning but still hate it and respect it. I don't like it at all, although I understand that Mushoku Tensei is that kind of story making me have a love/hate relationship with this show. EDIT: I don't blame Rudy, I just hate the situation as a whole but I can't blame the author... its just an irrational disgust towards a fucked up situation

The biggest obvious is that Tappei himself has already stated that Rezero is not going to end with any harem or multiple girls and he also mentioned that while he doesn't mind harem, he doesn't write them whats so ever and this proof enough with his other works. He even made Lust If and then deleted it to make fun of this on Subaru birthday which is April fools. Then he made Sloth IF, and you don't see Subaru having multiple woman. Rem is literally fighting against a 10 year old dead Emilia because of how jealous she is towards her. 2. The entire story has always revolved around 3 characters. Subaru, Emilia and Satella. If you novel reader, you would know 100% more to the fact that it couldn't even be possible to make sense considering the situations of the characters and what they feel. 3. We already know Emilia is monogamous. Unlike Slyphy who did grow up polygamous which is fine, Emilia did not and none of the characters do either. I want to say this again. I do not mind harems or any harem stories. I just mind the consumers who treat what they see in anime harems like what IRL should be like and there the ones who clearly can't disquishment anime harems and REAL life harems and their vastly different and are USUALLY human traffick. Open relationships are vastly different. Having a mistress like in older days was also very different. Mistress were not lovers, they just used to bare a child because of the wife not being able to.

XD Rudy lucked out with his polygamy cuz usually, you gotta deal with a set of in-laws per wife. NONE of his wives have any parents that can just drop in and nag you about stuff. Roxy's parents are all the way over at the Demon Continent, and they haven't invented airplanes yet. Also, I don't see them using the Teleportation Circles for casual nagging of the son-in-law.

I don't want to bring up anything the LN expanded on in case it gets covered somehow in the future. Did Rudy fuck up by clapping Roxy cheeks? Yes. Did Roxy fuck up by letting him hit? Yes and no. It's messed up that she did that knowing he was married, especially with a kid on the way. However, what would the alternative be? Lilia is busy tending to Zenith and the other two think he'll pull through on his own. She did what was she thought was best for him and it worked. We've seen how bad things can get for him and I believe its way better for him to be on his feet because he's basically the head of his family and for better or worse he has to be the glue that holds everything together. I see someone above commented that MT just uses sex to treat depression (I respect your POV) but I think they're missing the point a bit. It's not just the sex but rather the emotional connection he has with the person, it's weird that I will agree on but it's kinda like having someone there for you when you're going through something?

Don't get me wrong I understand the circumstances, what happen was probably for the better overall ( rudy was literraly dying alone in this room). But for the love of god stop trying to say he didn't cheat when even he (rudeus) admit it. I love mushoku tensei because all the characters are very well written, they all make mistakes from time to time. Rudy broke his promise? Welp he just face the consequences and deal with the problem.

But sadly, so much anime consumers on the average will take these types of relationships and think their actually what should be IRL or what other authors should inspire to write, and for me its mind bogling IMO. Like what you brought up with sex. Sex doesn't cure depression lol, depression makes you want to have sex LESS then anything else, so author using sex as some kind of therapy has always been very weird. But we have to accept that the author is using sex as therapy even if doesn't make any sense. it's why Rezero and MT get put in a war because Rezero does one thing where our morality is injected into an isekai world. Like Subaru does something really stupid like royal capital, he gets punished, he treats Emilia like a goddess, he gets punished. People for long time think MT is going to be like Rezero, but its not. MT is just really the same of any other Isekai but Rezero, but just far more fleshed out characters then the average Isekai.

LN aside a man who was so wallowed in grief and sadness who hasn’t had any sexual relations in months gets pressed by the woman who he quite literally made her panties his god. Think of it like this. If Rudy was a girl and Roxy was the guy and the EXACT same scene played out and later the MAN roxy says he preyed on her when she was down (roxy exact words) it’ll be less harsh on Rudy.
