I Would highly appreciate those who enjoy Kpop reactions and K-Drama reviews to consider subscribing to my additional channel. I'm really taking this genre more seriously, diving into the language, music, stars, culture, etc.

The reason for this is because, more often than not, I can see myself watching many of the K-Dramas we've reacted to, except for maybe 2-3, in my own time if I had been exposed to this genre earlier. I can't imagine a future where I watch fewer K-Dramas; in fact, I'd probably watch more since I wouldn't have to wait. Remember, I was going to watch "Fight for My Way" on my own. Ha ha! I'm glad it worked out and became a popular reaction.

I've reached the point where I look forward to "Lovely Runner" more than "The Boys" and many other shows we're covering. In fact, the ONLY show that competes with it currently is the anime "Kaiju No. 8." I think it's because these types of K-Dramas activate feelings I'm not used to experiencing, so it's still rather new to me (never know how long that will last).

All the shows I naturally watched growing up were violent or had inappropriate humor. Lol. That's why my thoughts might seem strange to you. (Aside from also being exposed to things way too early because I knew my way around a computer better than my Jamaican parents could ever imagine.)

Anyways... that's my life story.

They turned "I have no chingu" girl from Business Proposal into "Poop Girl" 💩 in Lonely Runner. Ironically, she's the main character's best chingu here so she does have a chingu

There’s two episodes later on that I kinda hated for how bleh they were but even those episodes didn’t ruin the love I have for these two 🥰🥰🥰10/10 reactions 🤣🤣

Yeah I personally think the drama was good until the end and the perception was from what I've seen generally pretty positive overall. There are some episodes I like less than others but that's just a given. Ppl have all kinds of opinions about the drama though, and most feel very strongly about their opinion. So yeah, i'm curious to see what y'alls will be. It's probably bc it became so successful but there are so many ppl I'd consider borderline haters. Nitpicking every little thing and holding the drama to a standard they wouldn't hold others drama to and so on. It's unfortunate.

Yes the intimacy! In most western shows they'll have slept together by the third episode. I much prefer the Kdrama approach when it comes to that stuff. Most of the time, they take it slow and the build up makes it feel meaningful and gets you invested. And they make little things so more special as well.

since you guys mentioned her smile, fun fact: the director mentioned that in these certain scenes between sunjae and im sol, he wanted the focus to be on her smile so that the audience would understand how sunjae could fall in love with her so fast (through her gorgeous smile)

Thank you guys for crushing on Byeon Woo Seok with me. This series just kept growing on me for so many reasons, and it is so fun to watch it again. Four of my last six suggestions have made it on to the reaction channel (Marry My Husband, Queen of Tears, Fight for My Way, and Lovely Runner), and it's so fun to guess what I think you guys will like! I know Secretary Kim will eventually win y'all over too :-)

@36:57 she's saying famous actors who have married each other! the last couple she mentions when she slides under the bed is Son Ye-Jin and Hyun Bin from crash landing on you.

RIGHT? THE EXCITEMENT!

the above comment is something i copy pasted since not many know this about this drama and also this drama literally makes me feel the things i felt watching kdramas for the first time in 2013

It made me a bit mad and I rolled my eyes when Sol fell asleep again on the bus, lol, but she fell and knocked her head once again... So I can't be too mad, but they made it as natural as they could so I give them some points for that, lol. But this was a great episode and I wonder how things will develop. I'm curious!

I just want to mention a couple things... Actually, no one expected Lovely Runner to be as successful as this. The drama itself went through a lot of things before airing. There are no product placement in this drama (which means they are tight on budget), the director change after some time of shooting (Which means they have to reshoot a lot of things), no streaming platform take them 2 weeks before airing (at the end they land on Viki / Viu and the fans keep teasing Netflix because they didn't take Lovely Runner). The Male Lead actor Byeon Woo Seok himself despite of his good look and charm , never get cast as a male lead before even he is already in the industry for more than a decade (he often took part as an extra, the fans actually get to find him like an easter egg in the older drama because he basically took every role that he can get). And the role of Ryu Sun Jae is actually rejected by 3 actors before it went to him. As for the cameo, they didn't get a popular cameo because of the money. For example, Park Tae Hwan the Olympian agreed to become a cameo here because of Kim Hye Yoon (the female lead) because they previously work together and got pretty close (Seriously Kim Hye Yoon is such a girl crush). They got a really solid storyline, loveable ML and FL character (and all of the character here get their own spotlight), the couple chemistry (is seriously off the charts), their cinematography, a really superb list of Soundtrack (This fictional band Eclipse actually get into the billboard 200, can you imagine??) etc. Despite of all difficulties they still manage to gain such success and popularity globally. Is such an achievement and probably one of my favorite underdog story. Seriously, I watch a lot of Kdramas and I can tell you that Lovely Runner is one of the best I've ever watched.

Shreya

tbh she acts like a bubbly teenager infront of sunjae when shes the 34 yr old one and then just straight up ignores him{ the 19 one} so hes confused by her attitude towards him but with the other guy she behaves like her 34 year old self always lecturing him to do good things so its easy for him to differentiate them cause when the 19 year old comes shes super effectionate and cannot even talk properly with him lmao glad your enjoying this show

Shreya

Thanks for reacting! I’ve seen so many people recommending lovely runner when it first came out and I could never get myself to sit through and watch it but watching your reactions makes it so much more enjoyable and I’ve fallen in love with this drama - holding myself back to watching it on my own time because I genuinely enjoy watching it with you guys!

Same. Korean Dramas are so interesting because if you explain the plot and storyline to someone, it sounds like the most ridiculous show. These shows can have the most unrealistic plots but make you cry, laugh, and relate to them in a way that other shows can't. For the romance part of the dramas, I love how intimate the characters are without taking off their clothes. I grew up watching Western shows and the usual indicators of love is kissing and physical intimacy. Getting heavily invested in an unfamiliar (to me) culture is also great. The directors and writers having the same salaries as the star actors, cinematography, and the discipline of the actors and staff in made well Kdramas are so evident. Being short and compact is also satisfying.

I must say you had back to back really STRONG Kdramas you covered up with Lovely Runner and Mr.Queen. I have the feeling that Kdramas with big comedy and time „travel elements are really your thing (although you didn’t „liked“ Twinkling Watermelon). As long you have fun with Kdramas, you should definitely react to them as much as you can and I also think that the popularity will also grow bigger and bigger over the years :D

Hiso

Thx for reactions and I'm always appreciate whenever you guys try to speak Korean and understand culture more and more. I love to watch your reactions.

You nailed something mentioning how many stories are told in these 12-16 episodes. Including multiple arcs and characters

Rock Lee

You’re welcome

Regarding your story. Truth be told, since I've started watching K-dramas, I've rarely felt the need to watch anything else. So many genres and different stories are covered in these 12-16 episodes shows that I can't quite come back to the American format that I loved for many, many years. Of course, every once in a while there's an exception, but it's so surprising to me how much my interests have suddenly changed ;) OK, now time to start the reaction. Thank you!
