Toranaga was indeed an artful mastermind, a true scientist of the winds, an opportunist. What an end.

2024-04-29 21:16:16 +0000 UTCyou have great comments...even though they are long i appreciate them...to many people write essays on fun facts or things missing from the show. I like to read interpretations that are fresh and non repetitive. good takes.

2024-04-29 21:16:11 +0000 UTCToranaga probably needed an honorable cause that seize power. He probably wouldn’t have made a move without one.

2024-04-29 15:51:16 +0000 UTCLaughter is the biggest sign of humanity. Ajin reminded Taranga that he was still humane. When one can no longer laugh, hope often dissipates. If this show had a big war fighting scene at the end it would have been a huge disappointment. Taranga was never about war or power, although he had all of it, This was established from the very beginning and was also what set him apart from all the other regents. He was a true Samurai and honored his master's dying order, to protect the legacy of his heir. He never sought division from the regents although he knew it would come. Having the wisdom to know that all wars do not have to be fought on the battlefield is why he deserves Shogun. He also knew that without their people, there would be no legacy. Protecting them by avoiding a war he was not equipped to win shows the depth of his ability to lead. Those who sacrificed themselves did so with honor. Taranga was a master of strategy. He gave everyone the freedom to define what loyalty meant to them. Those who were disloyal revealed themselves slowly, while others sought understanding. His son died accidentally while defying his father; yet, his death gave him merit as it allotted more time for them to plan. Overall, I enjoyed this one.

2024-04-29 05:58:30 +0000 UTCThe other woman that dies in the bomb blast was very high status in the book, she kills herself instead of dying slow from internal bleeding. She does John a massive solid by bigging him up for defending them all and denouncing Ishido in public. Surprised it was not included in the show as it gives context on how they all did not get killed by ninja immediately after the blast. The show was excellent and ty for your reaction!

2024-04-29 05:44:02 +0000 UTCFantastic show. Loved the reactions. One of my favorite characters was Fuji. 😍🥰 For me, she stole all the scenes she was in. I really liked the relationship between Fuji and John. However, I was still hoping she would stay with John as his consort and them becoming very close friends, and even potentially them being together in the future. As long as Fuji's happy I'm good.

2024-04-29 05:26:05 +0000 UTCThey were all just chess pieces and you know it worked tho lol. The guy founded the Tokugawa shogunate which lasted for like 260yrs and his 'seat of power' Edo, we all now know as Tokyo. He really did the math in his head and it worked out.

2024-04-29 04:50:15 +0000 UTCFun Historical Context: Toranaga is based on Tokugawa Ieyasu. The Battle of Sekigahara was in 1600. After he won, he gained supremacy in Japan, and in 1603 the Emperor gave him the title of Shogun. He died in 1616. And John? He's based on William Adams. He lived the rest of his life in Japan, spending 20 years there. He created Western Ships for the Shogun, facilitated Japan's approval for trading factors with Netherlands and England, and then captained 4 Expeditions to Southeast Asia. He died at 55 in 1620.

2024-04-29 04:21:33 +0000 UTCThe ending of this episode got me really looking at toranaga funny. The guy is smart and cunning but looking at how his own son turned out got questioning him but then again like he said he got plenty of sons
