Boxing & Muy Thai Is superior to Person Training At Gym

Comments

Sounds great to me! People overestimate how much they need to maintain muscle - for most people, bodyweight exercise is more than enough. If you want to switch to gaining instead of maintenance, then it's just making sure that there's progressive overload and whichever modality you choose is getting harder over time (bodyweight exercises/lifting etc.)

Emanuel

Nice, yeah you got this Lee!

Andre

That's a very good way to become the best person. I also probably need to try more seriously when it comes to eating healthy food.

Random Guy

So my journey started when my wife started to lose weight. Because without that I blend in with the people I normally associate with. Now that I go to boxing class I was the oddball with poor Cardio and poor physical condition. Now that is fixed. Lol

Rock Lee

But if you’re surrounded by people who are more fit than you it should seriously help you

Rock Lee

People call me a copycat cat cuz of Yaboyroshi. But my personality trait is to aquire the best tendencies of people around me whether it’s health, business, etc.

Rock Lee

After getting a few compliments and or participating in a group of other like-minded people naturally your motivation should kick in if you’re that kind of person

Rock Lee

You can make delicious lean things with an air fryer and if you don’t have to share the food you can heat it and pick through the chicken throughout the day whenever you’re hungry

Rock Lee

My saving grace is I enjoy jerk chicken and I can eat it almost every day which is what I’m doing right now. Lol

Rock Lee

I love your routine I worked better when I’m surrounded by people doing the same thing so boxing has worked well for me because I’m motivated to compete with these people lol

Rock Lee

I seasoned jerk chicken and I placed them in Ziploc bags. Six pieces of chicken thighs and about five or six bags. I rotate them to the refrigerator so they are thawed by the time I need to put it in the air fryer 20 minutes on each side. Lol. I throw a potato or two in the air fryer with the chicken no seasoning for the potatoes since the chicken got it . This is how i keep consistency and simplicity. I just drink water and one steak a week and one cheat day with wife and kid

Rock Lee

That’s good advice. I keep 2 45 pound dumbbells. They are next to my computers. So curl randomly. So i can keep my biceps. I do push ups and squats 4x a week. Body weight only. My bench press was 225 4 reps of 10 last time and thats fairly easy for me to get back (though i dont need it). But yes. Good advice. I will keep it up this way until 200 pounds. Cuz my OCD Has kicked in lol. So now… I can’t stop lol

Rock Lee

I used to do a lo to f martial arts and gym together but never lose weight because i cant stop eating

Random Guy

Some other hacks: keep it simple with food choices in the beginning. If you can eat a pound of lean meat everyday, a morning meal of something like greek yoghurt or 4 eggs in the morning, one cheat meal a week and drink a gallon of water everyday you're on the right track. You can also have a desert everyday to make it more sustainable. You got it under control, but just giving some keys that have worked for a lot of people in my circle when they asked me.

Andre

In terms of weight loss, my go to recipe that works for most people: 30-50 minutes at 80% of your heart rate (basketball, boxing, 15% incline on a treadmill) 3-5x per week, limiting cheat meals to one meal a week (can't outrun bad food choices) and incorporating three days of lifting (muscle burns fat) and most people are where they want to be in a couple months. If you get to 90% of BPM you are burning glycogen and it will make you hungry, 75-85% of heart rate is sweet spot for burning fat. Also upping protein intake to 0.8g per pound is key to preserve muscle mass as you are leaning out.

Andre

Sounds cool, i grew up playing basketball so that was my cardio 😅 i was never a treadmill guy that shit was too booring. Boxing sounds fun tho, lose weigjt and learn a skill. Efficient use of time for real.

Trayvon Brown

My title is virtually Clickbait. Lol. And that’s how you originally responded lol. So it’s cool

Rock Lee

Thank you. Yea. This is really about weight loss and which is the best bang for your buck. I have a chest monitor hooked up to a screen and it adjusts as my cardio improves. They have color zones and my trainer watch to make sure we are in the red often enough which is when we are working at 90% or above. Basically at 100%. You are at your max and you are not pushed beyond that. $150 vs $600 a month.

Rock Lee

Okay, I commented before watching, which was dumb. After watching, what you're saying makes perfect sense. Whatever you can do consistently and enjoy is the best way to lose weight. I counted calories and lost 2 lbs a week even without exercise. But once that same amount of calories resulted in less than a pound lost per week, I decided on weight training three days a week and cardio the other three days, with Sunday off. What I learned is that cardio isn't great for weight loss because it's hard to accurately predict how many calories you've actually burned in a workout (it's usually less than you think.) And muscle weighs more than fat, which increases your metabolism, so strength training is actually better in the long run. But whatever works for you, works for you, and that's what you should do. Congrats on the weight you have lost.

Trayvon Brown

Wishing you all the best on this weight loss/healthy living journey of yours, Lee! I would highly recommend resistance training 2x a week as it'll help you maintain muscle mass as you lose weight so most of the weight loss comes from fat mass. I learnt the hard way and lost all my fat AND muscle when I did my weight loss phase :(

Emanuel

Depends on your goals for real. If you want to build muscle, you need progressive overload with weight training over time, which is a slow process. If you just want to work on cardio, then yeah, boxing is great.

Trayvon Brown

My sister in law started boxercise which I presume is boxing without the actual contact, she loves it. I'd love to do some sort of martial art but I'm usually too tired from doing heavy physical work.

Barry

Good cardio and a defined body. That being said I will return to weight training twice a week once I reach my weight goal of 200 pounds

Rock Lee

Yeah that’s been on my comments every day since Baki 😂😂. Along with that fighting one that he’s about to Collab with lol

Rock Lee

If you enjoy boxing. Check out an anime called Hajime no Ippo. It's an awesome sports anime about boxing.

JNTurtl3z

Yeah, I think most combat sports and/or martial arts are better than personal training. But it also depends on what you're trying to get out of it and how much you want to commit to training.
