One of the reasons sub performances generally sound better the dub is the fact that it is the standard procedure for all the VA's involved in a scene to record together. I've seen video of 10 VA's in a booth taking turns at 2-3 mic's. The dubbing process requires each VA to work alone on their character so they can match lip movements on the screen. The original cast lays down their audio first at their own pace and then the animators match lips to the audio.
