I do agree with what you said, not one person is in the wrong but each are a victim of their circumstance’s. Just like when thorfinn was deciding whether or not to defend gardar using violence askeladd had told him, that thorfinn has got a good reason to fight back but also said that he’s sure snake has one too.

honestly this made me like snake alot more as a character. disregarding whether his actions are "right" or "wrong" he cares for his subordinates. We can see the visible anger/sadness he felt when his men fucked up and got themselves killed. Hes harsh on them but he still probably sees them as family. He had nothing against Gardar before this but now it becomes personal. While I say Gardar and Arnheid escaping is obviously the "morally correct" side, I like Snake and honestly want to see him win instead. Thorfinn aint gonna make it easy tho

Wouldn’t have had a chance because Snake’s men were gonna attempt to kill Gardar for the reward. Maybe he could’ve tried to knock them out instead of killing them, idk.

Lol ima always side with the people fighting for their freedom. Their lives have been hell and this man’s wife has been getting raped for who knows how long by Ketil cuz it’s definitely not like she wants to be there. Snakes doing his job and got what comes with it.

Is snakes side really considered a hot take? It isn't hard to see where he is coming from and why he is doing this. I do think that overall Thorfinn's side is the one I would side with because Gardar and his wife never deserved to be in the position of a slave in the first place and it was Snakes men wanting to go after him for the reward to begin with.

I agree with everything you said. I’m on snakes side side too. I wonder if snake would’ve let him go if he’d never killed any of his men. I think he definitely would’ve considered it/ grandpa would’ve definitely been able to talk him into it. That’s what I think anyways.
