Im currently reading With The Old Breed by Eugene Sledge, American war hero from WW2. It’s unreal the amount of stress these teenagers and twenty year olds were under. It took Sledge almost twenty years to not wake up screaming. A completely alien mindset, a defining experience, captured in a relatively short book.
