The Elves fate is tied to the world of Arda, as long as Arda remains, elves will remain. When Elves die, theire soulds go to a place called valinor and after lots of time(maybe hundreds or thousands of years) they will leave valinor to return to the world of Arda. So even if they were to die in battle, commit suicide, or what have you, they will still eventually live on. So even in death, they are immortal.

Tolkien rewrote her character a few times before he died. She was described as amazonian in nature in her youth. After getting her ring of power, she formed a bond with it. Tolkien wrote that galadriel + her ring against sauron without his ring= she could defeat him in combat. But sauron was in love with galadriel and wanted her to rule with him. She was gifted with powers that rivaled that of the istari/wizards but unlike gandalf, her power was never lowered or forcefully limited.

They are NOT ALLOWED to use the simlarillion which has the full details of rings of power. also ROP also spans hundreds of years, so only the elvish characters would remain they had to condense it for television purposes.NO way in hell would they be able to get away with a 15-20 season story arc.

2024-12-18 22:34:15 +0000 UTCBasically it’s like the took the bare minimum (pages or maybe even paragraphs from the appendices of the book which are literally footnotes essentially) and bastardized the main plot points while “technically” doing them but in a way that directly disrespects tolkien. this is literally what tolkien feared the most and is why they WAITED FOR HIS SON TO DIE to make the series because his son was a gatekeeper. these stories, the lore, the languages, the entire WORLD he made was his life’s work and this type of show was his fear. he built this world from his life experience in ww1. he spent an entire lifetime crafting this world. and they made it into bad marvel slop. they deliberately casted poorly to stick it to tolkien for having a majority white male cast of characters (and ruin his amazing female character Galadriel who is basically an ethereal angel with magic above needing to fight with swords). they added SHIPPING for galadriel and FUCKING SAURON. to appeal to modern audiences. They neuter every single epic character. they elevate and invent fake ass women characters, fake ass diverse elves, all so they can “fix” tolkien’s writing. it’s the epitome of every shitty piece of modern writing. but this isn’t ghostbusters, this isn’t some two bit game franchise with a shitty addition marred by modern writing. this is the origin of high well thought out fantasy, the origin of a true legendarium and probably the closest thing to a true modern mythology that’s justified by the quality and effort of tolkien. and they treat it like it’s oceans 9 or birds of prey or terminator or even modern star wars. they are desecrating on the life of a man who gave the world a lifetime of stories and lore and discussion because they think they know better. fuuuuuck amazon, fuuuuuck bezos, fuck these hack uncreative pricks, fuck jj abrams.

So yeah Galadriel is extremely ancient. Morgoth is Sauron's former master and he was the first Dark Lord but he was defeated in first age of Middle-earth. The Rings of Power show takes place during the Second Age and LOTR/The Hobbit is the Third Age. So there's no movies or shows that are set during First Age.

Originally it was supposed to tell stories from the Silmarillion and the First Ages(basically Tolkiens compendium of history before LOTR took place), but the Tolkien Estate wouldnt clear any additional rights other than the ones already sold to Peter Jackson which included characters from the Hobbit and LOTR, but not the Silmarillion, so Amazon said f+ck it, were gonna tell our own stories of the First Ages with absolutely 0 context to the original works of Tolkien and use characters we have the rights to that were alive during that time. And so we got the steaming shitpile called Rings of Power
