2023-09-26 00:03:47 +0000 UTCThe reason for this is because of what you watch first. Your first experience is going to shape how you view the character’s voice. So when you hear a different voice coming out of the character it creates an instant knee jerk reaction. Imagine if someone you know personally swapped voices with somebody else. It’s going to feel awkward because you’re not used to hearing that voice from them. The same applies to when you read a manga or light novel, you create a voice in your head so if it doesn’t match how you thought of it in your imagination, you’re going to feel that the voice is off. But if you continue to watch it, then you start associating that voice to the character as well.

2023-09-25 20:48:41 +0000 UTCThe reason the same VAs are used is because the pay is shit and in order to make a living as an anime Dub VA you typically have to work other positions as well such as ADR Director and Script Writer. When Funimation does an in house dub they use their own employees who are also VAs. When an outside studio like bang zoom does a dub they typically use VAs who just do voice acting and make up the pay difference by taking as many roles as possible including stuff outside anime. To be a dub VA for anime you have to really love the genre otherwise it’s just a gig that pays nothing
