So there's actually two Mr. 7s. The first Mr. 7 was actually killed by Zoro according to Oda but was never depicted and you only see the second Mr. 7 in the manga/anime. They show decided to show the first Mr.7 that Zoro killed to introduce him. Also Luffy stabbing his cheek and cutting is something Oda also said happened but he never got a chance to depict so the live action show decided to show that too.

Overall I though it was decent. I'm okay with the changes they made because they weren't that drastic compared to other live action anime's (at least not yet). Zoro was definitely the star of this first episode but a shoutout to Koby, who I think the actor nailed perfectly. I still gotta get used to Luffy and Nami, Luffy to me is the hardest character to perfect so I wont judge the performance too harshly, he has a very difficult task. The action was solid throughout though and the pacing was cool, looking forward to the rest of the season!!! Side Note though, this episode made me revisit an old theory that I actually believe, I think Koby will actually take Luffy down one day, and it will be a lot like Gol D. and Garp.

Actually when we get introduced to baroque works in the Anime/manga it’s mentioned that they tried to recruit Zoro in the past, but he wouldn’t accept the position unless they made him the leader. And Oda actually confirmed in an SBS that Zoro killed Mr.7 before joining Luffy. So that part of this Ep:1 in actually canon.

Once again, every anime uses CGI nowadays. It’s still better CGI than OP, AOT, CSM and even DS which you can’t even brag about that either since those fish monsters looked straight out of a video game, almost everyone complained about it, whereas next to no one ever complained about it for TYBW so far. These guys done forgot a lot of the beginning of one piece lmao. The stab did happen. Mr.7 was mentioned to come in contact with Zoro which is why we never met him. There’s some tweaks in the story to make a 50 episode romance dawn into a 8 episode show. Remember Oda did approve it.
