I think the small issues just become a lot more noticeable later on on the show that well are a bit too silly etc. Imo It's not a bad shounen but it's definitely not top tier one considering just the later part of the series.

All of Makarov’s speeches always mention how it’s okay to be weak and that with unity you can cover for each other’s weakness. It didn’t matter how civilly Laxus went about his plan. It was doomed to fail from the start. Like even if Laxus managed to kick a bunch of people out. He was still going to fail. Because all that would happen is that everybody else would leave the guild with them. And the difference between what Laxus and Gajeel did is that Gajeel wasn’t attacking his family.

I was just like you guys enjoying Fairy Tail in the beginning but later on in the anime the power ups and asspulls start to make no sense and most of the wins are straight up bullshit. You can tell after a certain arc that the author turns lazy. Enjoy the honeymoon phase while it still lasts.

For me this is a simple down to earth feel good anime that's just fun to watch. It has some decent deep moments, but for the most part it was always a great anime to just kinda unwind to. Lots of fun stuff coming up fast and some great fights too, cheers!
