and the "twins" are not the same actor. they are 2 different actors and they were both in Goblin and there was a joke about them looking like brothers. since goblin is the former show by the same director, it was a joke referring to that

2025-01-25 15:57:45 +0000 UTCSo the 5 main characters of this show are 1. Ae shin (Kim Tae Ri) 2. Mr. Sunshine - Eugene Choi 3. Dong Mae 4. Kudo Hina 5. Kim Hee Sung During the period shown in the show - Korea was facing multiple foreign forces trying to colonize Korea. Mainly Ameria, Russia and Japan. (Historically none of these countries were not in the side of Korea but themselves.) 1. Ae shin's parents were freedom fighters who were opposing all colonial powers - and Ae Shin herself is highly patriotic 2. Eugune is korean by birth but left at a young age to America due to his family being oppressed by Korean nobels and is now fully American in heart 3. Dong Mae is also korean by birth - but again due to the class oppression within the korean community left the country and went to Japan and hustled and became a leader of a Japanese gang (yakuza) and is functioning in Korea as a Japanese - this is why Ae Shin says my gaze for you was not because you were a butcher but because i thought you were a citizen but turns out you are a traitor. 4. Kudo Hina - similar to Dong Mae was also born Korean but took a pro-Japanese persona and is based in Korea but functions as a Japanese than a korean 5. Kim Hee Sung was from Korean nobility and is korean - but like many power hungry korean nobel families of that time - came from a family that was pro Japanese to an extent (for self benefit) studying in Japan etc... But he comes off as not caring about any of these as he's not directly affected by poverty or anything people are facing
