But I would also get confused when first watching this with the names and order of all the levels of mastery and what it means. So I'm gonna help you guys for future reference! 1. Jipsu: the ability to gather the energy of water. 2. Ryusu: allows a mage to GAIN energy from a FLOW of water 3. Chisu: the ability to CONTROL the energy in the ATMOSPHERE (not just water ig) 4. Hwansu: the ability to convert water to fire and vice versa. Anything else they mention would be considered spells or skills that can be done under one of the mastery levels of energy/magic mentioned above. Such as Tansu which can only be achieved when one is in the Chisu stage of magic. Jang Uk is still in the Jipsu stage or maybe beginner Ryusu. But Mudeok is trying a different strategy to speed up his training by focusing on a skill rather than overall mastery. Soul shifting is also a skill only done when one is in the Hwansu stage which is rare for mages to get to this point unless they are really talented and strong but most importantly devoted their life to mastering these things.
