Should we add character customization to Samurado?

Some ideas we've had so far are: custom colors/facial hair/gender options.

I agree with Darren, it's an additional element of the game, but on the other hand - you're presenting the game as fun, funky, not serious. And the ability to customize the character and dress the samurai in funny outfits probably won't take too much development time, it's quick to implement and fits the spirit in which the game is presented.
