Added 2022-05-28 19:23:58 +0000 UTCHi patrons! I'm doing something a little different here that I'd normally not do, but you are something of my "preview audience", so I feel I can get away with. Plus, this won't hurt the reading of this story in its entirety to see page 3 and 4 early. You'll get to go back a couple pages to see how Toby and Masako first meet retroactively when pages 1 and 2 are finished.
I'm so excited to show off the first bits of the prequel issue to What Brings Us Together. We've titled this with a Japanese romaji (Romanization of the Japanese language) that means "connecting world". You'll learn how that applies to Sweet Leaves through this issue and the next one. I've radically shifted gears with these two stories and the series has developed into a new beast, and one that I'm quite happy with, and really deepens the lore and universe these characters live in, which gives new and important context regarding the magical abilities you've seen Toby and Colson display in "Superpower".
I really hope you guys like this and I'm eager to hear what you think, if you'll indulge me in a comment or a message, since again, these next two stories are big shifts in the comic.

This is a lovely way of introducing them, from the perspective of Toby telling his Dads about them while seeing their way of how they met is wonderfully done <3 and uses toby's strengths and weaknesses on how they met and get along. Heheh. The the burden Masako has on her shoulders is a really deep and saddening story. Tieing it a tragic natural disaster was a very relatable way of doing it, espeically in the Japan location. I look forward to seeing how she deals with it and how Toby can be there for her. <3
