As you guys know, I am on a quest to play all the PS3/PS4 games I missed out on while getting my degree.
Last week, I went down to San Diego for a friend’s wedding. I had some time to kill after getting ready and stumbled upon a game my sister had left with her old PS3 called Journey.
When I started playing it, I wondered what the goal of this game was (collecting coins, puzzle solving, Kill count). It seemed to just be about heading towards a mountain. What am I doing??? I asked myself.
Slowly, I realized that the point of this game was its title. This game was the journey. A simple goal set to the background of heartbreakingly beautiful music and fantastic gameplay. As I continued my journey, I became more and more spellbound by the simple story and my emotional investment in it.
To put it mildly, I love this game.
If you haven’t played it (please do), I won’t ruin the ending for you. However, it was an amazing emotional experience for me.
I would love to PSN this with someone I know, however, there is quite a lot of beauty in connecting with a stranger.
I am currently working on this concept art version of a Traveler. I think it’s a gorgeous interpretation and I’d love to work in some LEDs for the scarf and eyes as well.
