EARLY ACCESS: Captain America: Winter Soldier

I've decided that I want to be Black Widow when I grow up. ALSO. I CANNOT EVEN TALK ABOUT NICK FURY IN THIS.  How do we rebuild now??

EARLY ACCESS: Captain America: Winter Soldier

Comments

I'm here for Ashleigh's reactions, not necessarily for the movies themselves.

Theadora

The Council woman is the nurse from American Werewolf in London

When it was released in the 90’s. (I’d tell a Clueless fan to watch more Amy Heckerling films for a harsh education, but no, I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.)

Eric Janssen

Of course Clueless is a classic! It had a huge influence on the culture, a stellar cast, and a very well written script. It practically defined the '80s.

Ayah Setel

I laughed at the thought of Clueless being considered a classic.

Robert Reichle

I would definitely consider Kung Fu Hustle a classic - I'd call it a glf (great little flick) classic. I also loved that she watched Sneakers, Grumpy Old Men, Edward Scissorhands, and all the Mel Brooks movies. The difference is you can turn on your TV today and see just about any of the MCU movies. You can't always find Field of Dreams, let alone Bull Durham.

Ayah Setel

To add to Kevin's post, we're talking a channel that has done Elvira, UHF, Kung Fu Hustle...so we're already looking at the use of the word "classics" very loosely here.

Kenton Kruger

52 weeks in a year, two movies a week. Even if Ash takes a couple of weeks off, that's 100 movies a year. One MCU movie a month is 12 movies a year, and so far in 11 months since she did the first Iron Man, she's done 9 MCU movies, so not even one per month.

Kevin Mowery

Ugh, the gatekeeping. Let people like what they like.

Ben

This is a fun movie and all, but I thought you said you wanted to see the "classics." The first MCU movie is just over a decade old. You can see them everyday on multiple channels. I had thought you were talking about movies like Clueless, Field of Dreams, Beverly Hills Cop, or Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Those movies are still part of current culture. It also seems odd that you want to watch different types of movies, but all we keep getting is MCU.

Ayah Setel

I remember someone saying something about sequels....oh yeah it was me; Lethal Weapon series....

Danika Silva

I chose "Butch & Sundance" because it was their first film, and so to me it shows how well they were together from the start...

Congratulations, Ashleigh, on becoming an official Cap-Shield T-Shirt Girl, LITERALLY. 😂 (For those who don’t know, that’s print-comic fans’ slang for the new flood of female MCU fans who go around in Cap-shield T-shirts claiming to be “new Marvel fangirls” despite never having read a print comic in their lives or knowing another character who never got a movie, and whose fandom consists of hunk-worship for Cap and Thor, nagging MCU for that Black Widow movie, and flaming fans who hated the overbearing Captain Marvel movie….But we know you’re better than that, deep down. 😚 )

Eric Janssen

No. That's just a personal opinion not anything spoilery

Elisa H.

Spoilery? Like, saying that another upcoming Captain America film is miles better than another certain upcoming Avengers group film?

Eric Janssen

But watching The Sting first might put her more into the Paul Newman & Robert Redford buddy-film vibe first…

Eric Janssen

A. I understand now what she was saying about how some fans get a little excited and don't realize that some hint hint nudge nudge comments are a little spoilery. B. My list that no one asked for so far would be; 1) winter soldier, 2)iron man, 3) avengers, 4)cap. America, 5)Thor, 6)dark world, 7)iron man 3, 8)iron man 2, 9) hulk

Elisa H.

Jarvis is a very entertaining supporting character. Also, ;-)

Thomas Yanez

Laughing at Ashleigh calling Jarvis a superhero... ;-)

Chris Starke

When - not if - You look to React to earlier Robert Redford films, I believe "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" is a good choice because it is based on two actual Old West - 1890s into 1900s - Outlaws...

James Falato

The MCU is the greatest movie franchise ever. The story and how they all tie in, the dialogue, everything about it. DC sucks.

Chris Starke

Looking forward to Better Off Dead, that and One Crazy Summer were very essential to my childhood.
