HALLOBEANS POLLS

VOTE FOR MULTIPLE MOVIES

I have SO many movies I could watch that I'm really having a hard time choosing - so I want your help.  What do YOU want me to see?

VOTE FOR ALL THAT YOU'RE INTERESTED IN.  These are for the night vision films - I want the light hearted ones to be a surprise for you 🥸

Comments

For a fun-sci-fi/horror, I would love to see your reaction to The Rocky Horror Picture Show. :) Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, Ash vs Army of Darkness, and the remake of Evil Dead.

Bill Sellers

Awesome picks. There's definitely not enough Hitchcock on the list. But... I think of Rear Window as more of a Valentine's Day movie than Halloween, hehehe.

Alex Pierce

Yes, please! Great movie.

Reba Pieczynski

She needs to view the original The Fly with Vincent Price

Rickie Muth

Jeff Goldblum!

Aaron

What do people think of 'From Dusk till Dawn' for her? Going be previous reactions it might be a bit much, but I do think she'd like the plot, character development and George. (Hard trying to discuss a movie without spoilers)

Aaron

If it ever comes around in the votes again, you should go with the 1988 version of "The Blob". Especially for a night-vision viewing.

Thomas Yanez

@Bill Bevins That's my point - watching it as a normal movie is pointless. Being introduced to it in theater full of people (well, not TOO full these days) that know the routine - THAT is how you should experience it the first time. And the second. And fifteenth.

Thomas Yanez

"Pet Sematary" was pretty much the only Stephen King book that actually scared me while reading it the first time. I got sucked into it and basically stayed up all night, reading it in a single session and it creeped me right the fuck out. The movie not so much, but I still enjoy it - especially Fred Gwynne's performance.

Thomas Yanez

The people under the stairs would also be a great one.

Reyna Moore

Can you add "The Others" to the list for October?

Thomas Knox III

The Mist (2007 Stephen King, starring Thomas Jane). A real headf*ck

Dave Atcha

I'm thinking maybe somewhere somebody should have sent her Pumpkinhead.

Mark Koppa

I wonder how many people recognize that the mom is Tasha Yar from Star Trek Next Generation?

Crystal Wood

The Changeling (1980) is considered one of the best ghost story/films ever made. I’ve seen it. It’s not a horror film, but it is creepy and sad

C. A.

"Cawse not! Who'd do such a thang?!"(tips over row of empty longnecks) :)

Paul Johnson

I just sent one to your P.O. box that I think might be suitable for Hallowbeans. :-) Or whenever you'd fancy to watch it, I suppose.

Matt Blanchette

I agree. Silence of The Lambs is not really a Halloween movie.

Torben Dix

Sorry, yes the Halloween part. It is great, but I do just mean that it is a movie that is very often overplayed this time of year. It is pretty low on the suspense (for me) so that is what I mean by barely a thriller, I didnt check what audiences and critics put as the genre. Still, great movie, but a very easy one to watch year round as oppose to Halloween when there are a bajillion good Horror movies to watch in a 4 week period. Like I am still gonna watch though.

Nimo-the-Red

I guess you have your opinions, but I was wondering... When you state "Silence" is "Super overplayed" do you mean it's shown as a Halloween or Horror Film to gain recognition in genres you feel it doesn't belong?!? And why is it "Barely a Thriller" by you when attending audiences and critics call it "A Thriller"?!?

James Falato

The original "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" was from 1956 and was the B&W version... The 70s and 90s and 2007 were Remakes...

James Falato

Silence of the lambs is super overplayed, like it is great cinema no doubt, but it is not a Halloween movie or a horror movie, it's barely a thriller.

Nimo-the-Red

I never found "Child's Play" to be scary...don't get me wrong it's a fun movie and Brad Dourif is great as always...but I got more laughs than scares out of it

Paul Johnson

Vincent Price

Rickie Muth

@Mark Sylvester no that was not for you, i don't really comment much here didn't know i should add who i was replying to, i thought clicking on the little chat box would tag it for who i was replying to. i watched return first then tried watching the "classics" i was falling asleep, the newer Dawn of the Dead, i think that's the one with ving rhames. that one is pretty good.

EF3078

@EF3078 I don't know if any of that was for me but I wasn't asking that she should watch the Romero Dead movies during Hallowbeans with the night vision I just wanted her to watch them. And I wasn't saying she should watch the B &W version. The 90's remake would be fine Romero wrote and produced the remake and is the main reason it got made he just tapped Savini to direct. Dawn or Day would be good too. Return would be good too. I love Return of the Living Dead. I just thought she should have watch any of those movies before Shawn which was directly inspired by those movie. Really I just like Ashleigh's reaction to gore and all the movies from the Dead and Living Dead series with the exception of the B & W Night are gorier then Shawn in my opinion.

Mark Sylvester

70's

Mark Sylvester

Jeff Goldblum. I don't think Drew and the fur baby hero will top poll. But maybe Ashleigh will push it over poll.

Mark Sylvester

Yup, and most are decent movies, just prefer creepy myself for Halloween.

Kenton Kruger

It doesn't have to be halloweeny to make the cut. I just want to be scared

Ashleigh Burton

Which invasion of the Body Snatchers? Black n white, 70s, 90s?

Kristal Warner

Why fly? Vincent price or Jeff goldblum version? Cats Eye is an amazing fur baby hero pic. Starring Drew Barrymore.

Kristal Warner

I don’t think it’s good for scares but it’s a good movie if memory serves me right. :)

Cal

For "It", the best thing is to watch Pt. 1 of the new movie first, and then Pt. 2 of the 90's miniseries second. It's rather unfortunate the other way around.

Eric Janssen

I just wish people here would check out "The Changeling" on their own this spooky season it really is a great ghost story and worth a look

Paul Johnson

I read the book years ago. Scared the 💩 out of me. Neither movie version does the book justice. That's why I also refuse to watch "It". I love the book so much, have read "It" like 3-4 times.

Wally

HalloBeans says "You Die NOW": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJy7ByTpbyk

litesronno1shome

I agree! I can't believe more people didn't vote for Jeepers Creepers or Phantasm.

Mary Brown

Umm, I don't know that Pet Semetary would be a good one for Asheigh. Might be too traumatic.

Mary Brown

Practical Magic would be fun.

Louise Brooks

To be honest I voted for the 6th sense because I haven't seen it but I do know about the ending.

Farstar

"Invasion" garnered over 100 votes which may still give it a fighting chance...also Ashleigh has seemed(to me anyway) to show an interest in it and it wouldn't be the 1st time a poll was overridden

Paul Johnson

Like the old saying goes, “You know you’re too old for trick-or-treating when you suddenly realize ‘Hey…I can buy my OWN Reese’s Cups, it’s not that hard.” 😅

Eric Janssen

Lol, Invasion was my number 1 pick too ;) And yeah, I am still going to enjoy it all, I think each of the ones we know will be interesting reactions. There's just a real dearth of genuinely creepy stuff in there. It's just going to be like trick-or-treating and getting lots of caramels, gum, lolipops, and other tasty treats, but nobody giving you the full size chocolate bars.

Kenton Kruger

I feel your pain. I was ride or die with Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)... but c'est la vie! I mean, there are no stinkers in there at least. It's not ideal, perhaps, but it can still be fun! *makes spooky noises*

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

"Orphan"...lol

Paul Johnson

Also the director of "Return of the Fly", Edward Bernds was probably best known for directing numerous Three Stooges shorts in the 40's and 50's

Paul Johnson

So far, including the MMM picks, we are going to have: Scream Death Becomes Her Silence of the Lambs The Sixth Sense The Fly Child's Play I don't know why, but even with some of these being very good movies I'm feeling underwhelmed as far as it having a "Halloween" feel to it.

Kenton Kruger

Salem's Lot (Stephen King - 1980)

Oouga

"Don't Look Now" (1973) is a classic of psychological horror with which, unfortunately, the younger generation is unfamiliar.

Elliot Nesterman

No one does Phantasm, despite it being one of the best horror franchises of all time. Fight me.

Rose

It’s hard to puck but thanks for a good horror max for my own personal October movie list

Robert Gruhn

Thank you both for the information.

Nick Russo

I've been hoping forever that we'd get a grown up Drew Barrymore sequel, but it looks like they're just going to do a new little-girl version remake. Hey, it could be cool, with modern special effects, but there is a Hell of a lot of charm in the original's effects, especially **SPOILERS** the climactic scene where she goes apeshit with the fireballs.

Thomas Yanez

Oh, yeah, I'm on that "The Omen" train, too. Creepy little kids are the best.

Thomas Yanez

I didn't say anything about her enjoying those movies. In fact, I agree with you completely that she would not enjoy them. Hell, I don't enjoy most of them, except in the way that I acknowledge their place in cinematic history. I just said that knowledge of them would inform a viewing of "Return of the Living Dead" which is more parody/homage than its own movie. That said, I love "Return of the Living Dead" and would welcome her reacting to it, regardless of the scenario - and at the same time, feel it would be a waste of night-vision, as the movie isn't really that scary, either.

Thomas Yanez

Indeed.

Thomas Yanez

I'm with you on this Wally. Both would be good at other time of year when Ashleigh needs a break from comedy, drama and action.

Mark Sylvester

As it fucken should be! lol

Rue

Thoughts on Silver Bullet (1985), probably not for night vision but for a general viewing during a future HalloBeans??

litesronno1shome

For reasons best left to viewing, The Fog feels more like ten times the “Halloween movie” that Silence or Sixth (as good as Sixth is) will ever be. 🌫🏴‍☠️

Eric Janssen

And yeah I liked SOTW...very underrated movie although I must warn you be prepared to have a certain song stuck in your head for a couple of weeks after watching

Paul Johnson

I love "" Silence of the Lambs" and " The Sixth Sense".  They are extraordinary great films. But the spirit of Halloween is about fun, scary 90-120 minute frights and "Oh, my god! "  That being said, I'm kind of sad that some truly great horror films worthy of scary night vision will be bumped.  I'm all for watching those two incredible films but any time of year is great for those two. "Lambs" is more of a thriller and "Sense" is more of a drama. Just my opinion.

Wally

If you look at this list, you can see everything she's been sent in the mail, and everything she's reviewed and watched. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1zYAmfdnT4HQxTyfV8EbkSbiG5QkteNFnwNSMrUc2XBY/edit?usp=sharing

Tyler Foster

Supposedly the story was that John Carpenter, who is not big on doing direct sequels killed off both Michael Myers and Dr. Loomis in the 2nd film(which he co-produced but didn't direct)never to come back as far as he was concerned...the idea for the franchise at that point was to have an "anthology" type series of Halloween themed standalone films released yearly of which "Season" was the 1st...confused by the lack of Michael Myers audiences avoided the film, it flopped, and the "anthology" concept was scrapped...at that point Carpenter washed his hands of the series and moved on...the series remained dormant until producer Moustapha Akkad who owned the rights to the franchise restarted it in 1988 with "Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers" and the rest, as they say, is history

Paul Johnson

"I want the hat!' :)

Paul Johnson

It uploads this Friday.

Mark Sylvester

Just joined up and haven’t been able to get through her entire catalog of reviews yet. Does anyone know if she’s done the first Scream yet?

Nick Russo

Haha, no one votes for Alone in the Dark

eric brown

Pity we don't have the ultimate horror film on there - Threads. Not many jump scares but I challenge anyone to make it past the hospital scene...

Simon Clifton

Pitch Black (2000) would look good in ... pitch black ;-)

Craig Rhymer

any opinions on The Devil's Advocate (1997)???

litesronno1shome

Which "The Fly"? Which "Body Snatchers"?

Terrel Geer

So, one more request for The Omen. (And Carrie’s mom. )

Eric Janssen

Yes that was him https://m.imdb.com/name/nm0005286/

Bill Staley

Yes, she did Nightmare on Elm Street

Heather Qualy

??? Huh? That’s not the actor that played Forrest Jr.

Heather Qualy

Remember, Ash, just because you’ve never heard of “The Ghost & Mr. Chicken”, and say “Eww, what IS that thing??” when you see Don Knotts on the cover, doesn’t mean the rest of your fans don’t know it…. 😁

Eric Janssen

The one with Martin Landau and Donald Pleasance that’s only NOW come out on Blu-ray, which explains why only three people have heard of it. 😄

Eric Janssen

Has Ash already done the earlier horror movie with Johnny Depp: Nightmare on Elm Street?

Eric Janssen

I've noticed that no one reacts to the supernatural/horror movie starring Johnny Depp, The Ninth Gate. It's a really fun movie with lots of creepy goodness.

Robert Reichle

Yes! I got super excited for a second thinking it was the 80s Blob lol.

April Smith

i take it you can't just let that go huh, ok. You think she's going to enjoy a super slow paced black and white movie in night vision, really? or do you think she'll enjoy that other slow paced color movie where the bad guys walk at such a slow pace that Ashleigh could power walk away from. i'm not trying to watch her yawn at how boring some "classics" are, i didn't watch romeros old movies before watching return of the living dead, i didn't need to since they talk about it in the very movie. i just see the reason to ask her to go through that.

EF3078

I know Bill. Its just that when I first saw the poll I was thinking a big bunch of these would be for Hallowbeans. Then after I broke it down realized it would be less then I thought. Its really not a big deal.

Mark Sylvester

It doesn't have to be Hallowbeans for her to react to a scary movie. If one is requested enough enough she could do it any time of the year.

Bill Bevins

I know the first Friday is Scream. And it looks like Death Becomes Her won the poll for another member. Maybe for the other two members I guess.

Mark Sylvester

Unless someone picks them for Friday

Rickie Muth

the blob remake from 1988 is much better

Aaron Robert

I like the third one

Nicholas & Heather

This is a solid list. :) There are many that could have been included as well or instead of some of the ones listed.. but hey, these rock. :)

Logan Kerlee

Yeah, definitely for a light hearted viewing.

Hombredave

I'd say if ya just go one movie on the Evil Deads, gotta do Evil Dead 2. I never saw the first one until several years after I saw Evil Dead 2. And it's like "oh, it's the same movie but not as wacky."

Joe Blankenship

And Friday will be the MMM picks so this poll is just for Mondays.

Mark Sylvester

She is doing 3 upload a week for HalloBeans. Wednesday will be rhe non scary o es.

Rickie Muth

I just thought of something. Friday is going to be member picks. The Wednesday upload is going to be not scary with no night vision. There are just 4 Mondays this month so just four of these movies will be picked maybe five because there is an extra Friday. Yikes!! A lot of these won't be reacted to this year.

Mark Sylvester

Blair With Project or Pans Labyrinth

Gabe Hernandez

And guess which film is the only one even close to SotL? The Sixth Sense, of course. these polls can be a little depressing at times, always the same movies winning.

Richard Maurer

I still like The Car with James Brolin

Rickie Muth

Actually the original "The Fly"(1958) was shot in color...the two sequels "Return of the Fly"(1959) and "Curse of the Fly"(1965) were in black and white

Paul Johnson

Ashleigh has stated somewhere above that it will be 70's Body Snatchers and 80's The Fly.

Mark Sylvester

Then Evil Dead 2, Evil Dead 2! Watch them both or we'll swallow your soul, we'll swallow your soul!

Mark Sylvester

Important to know which version of the Fly we're talking about. Is it the original black and white flick, or the Jeff Goldblum reboot? Also which version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. My fav is the 1970's version with Donald Sutherland.

Thomas Hennig

I love Evil Dead 2! I actually saw 2 first and then sought out the first one. I think they would both be good with night vision but the first one better. But we might have to do what people did for Terminator 2 and bug the heck out of her till she agrees to watch both.😁

Mark Sylvester

It might be another one we have to beg her to do a sequel because my favorite movie ever is Evil Dead 2.

Cal

Evil Dead, Evil Dead!!

Mark Sylvester

Cal you got here just ahead of me I just realize there is no Evil Dead on the list. My opinion is that would be great for night vision

Mark Sylvester

Judging by Witches of Eastwick and the cherries, I think Ashleigh's gonna need a bucket nearby for The Fly.

Joe Blankenship

At least it's a better movie than Sixth Sense. That movie is shot after you've learned the twist and I'm guessing because of pop culture, she already knows the twist.

Joe Blankenship

Does everyone agree Evil Dead is worthy of night vision?

Cal

Me too!!

Mark Sylvester

I wish she would have watched a Romero movie before Shawn of the Dead. It was made with a love of his movies. It was also cool that Romero cast Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright as Zombies in Land of the Dead after he saw Shawn.

Mark Sylvester

Also have to make sure it’s the UK cut. Better for Hallowbeans.

Cal

The sink scene....yikes!

Paul Johnson

Maybe it will be a silly movie pick?

Mark Sylvester

The original TCM is a MUST!

Paul Johnson

We need more religious horror then. :)

Cal

These are all good movies ...I hope you get to them all in the future...

WEEZER MANN

What about the Omen?

JuneBug_TX

"Rosemary's Baby" would be a good choice. It is a fine film: Tooi manuy films of its genre really work by simply scaring you into thinking that you are goin to be scared., "Baby" on the other hand is based on an intrinsically really frightening IDEA that the protagonistd don't understand until it is too late, and they are now powerless to deal with it ... AND it comes from their best positive instincts.

Joseph Stevenson

There are only three pictures on this list that are classically good pictures -- that is, stand-outs. These are "Si;ence of the Lambs,:" about which Eric Jansen said it best"; It would be a disservice if you did "The Sixth Sense," because that movie is tied up into a single twist that comes at the end of the movie, and knowning anytthing about th ending pretty much wipes out the whole picture up to then. It is a great movie, bujty you can't really get its intended effect if you lknow the twist ahead of time.

Joseph Stevenson

I never saw the ‘58 Blob, hopefully it’s as good as the ‘88 Blob.

Cal

Good point--I'm putting in a vote for Cat's Eye just for Beans. (It's more on the lighter side anyway.)

Eric Janssen

heh heh all the cat films lol

Ken - Kendo161

Sleepy Hallow gets my vote. The Ghost and Mr Chicken is a classic, but probably not for night vision.

Rickie Muth

She usually does them on the first Sunday of the month.

Bill Bevins

By any other name this would have been a great horror movie. By putting the Halloween title to it and not having Michael Myers in it really does a disservice to this movie. It's actually pretty terrifying and a pretty decent standalone horror movie.

Bill Bevins

Actually, since it's number 1 in the poll right now, it's probably going to get watched, Assuming Ashleigh is going to watch more than one movie from this poll, it will definitely finish in the top 3.

Richard Maurer

I saw Rocky Horror in the mid 70s when it played at the local theater's Midnig Movie night. This was before anyone heard ever heard of it and there was no audience participation. I liked the music but, as a 19 year old straight guy, I thought the plot was stupid and disturbing. Shocked when a couple of years later it took off as a cultural phenomenon.

Bill Bevins

Thank You, I thought I remembered something like that from god knows how many years ago. But after watching the first 2 recently I thought I was mistaken. I'm gonna have to hunt down the 3rd.

litesronno1shome

Would I do Silence of the Lambs?...No, I totally wouldn't do it. It's procedural-thriller, and disturbing, rather than Halloween horror, not to mention everybody and her sister has already done it on YouTube--It's the Tropic Thunder of scary movies. It'll probably turn up again as one of those default poll choices later in the year that grabs all the votes away from a more interesting candidate just because all the kids know it, but I'm with that half of the Patreon fans who turn down a movie because "...SEEN it!!"

Eric Janssen

If you're going to do the Bride then you also should complete the trilogy with Son of Frankenstein. I called a trilogy because these first three were the only ones with Karloff. "Son of Frankenstein " also featured the constable with the mechanical arm which was parodied in Young Frankenstein.

Bill Bevins

Finally a poll where I agree with 99.5% of the choices. The .5% disagreement goes to Silence of the Lambs, which is really more of a suspense film and is popular enough to win a non genre movie poll.

Richard Maurer

Tbh, I really appreciated the remake of PS and also really enjoyed the remake of Candyman that came out this year. And let's be real, here - it's not "PC" complaints. The shit was just plain racist and inaccurate and gross - same goes for a lot of content from the original Candyman - and there's nothing wrong with revisiting a story if you're going to make it better, which I think they did in both cases.

Rue

And Geena Davis!

Paul Johnson

Hellraiser and Hellbound with Night vision would be awesome! But my personal vote is still for the best zombie movie, Train to Busan. I think it's a great way to introduce Ashley to incredible foreign films but unfortunately I don't think enough people are willing to give it a chance because they think it's just another typical zombie movie. Sigh....

hockeywitch

Charles Krause If I was not over the 1 million remakes of classics I would be on board with an updated Hellraiser. Imagine how cool it could look now. I agree that the storytelling is amazing. Why I highly suggest the watch!

Aubrey Lineberry

The 1989 version, ie., not the one where they had to give the main character TWO kids, just so they could work a Creepy Girl and Tot in Danger into the story, and where Stephen King's "Native burial ground" had to be changed into an "Animal cult", to avoid getting PC complaints. There's a time when one should learn when NOT to remake 80's horror titles....

Eric Janssen

Hopefully the 1978 one...I sent her a copy of it months ago and I think she also received another copy of it in the last unboxing

Paul Johnson

You forgot to say the little girl was Drew Barrymore! I actually thought Scott pulled it off he WAS that good of an actor...I'll always love "Changeling" though...although it is relatively light on "jump scares" it has parts that are so creepy and atmospheric(the old house is a BIG part of that) it makes the hairs on your arms stand on end

Paul Johnson

Agreed, if for nothing else : Fred Gwynne's performance.

Thomas Yanez

I however, would go with the original 1989 version if you're going to do Pet Sematary ;)

Renee S

Yup...I would say the big draw is watching 28 year old Steve McQueen playing a teenager

Paul Johnson

Props to Lugosi but I prefer Christopher Lee...he takes the presence(and menace) up several notches...also the 1979 Frank Langella version is pretty decent as well...I would avoid the Coppola/ Gary Oldman version though

Paul Johnson

You said it best Thomas. In my comment above here I mentioned Carrie & The Omen are missing titles to this poll. Those are most definitely worthy for night vision! But you know if movies like Silence of The Lambs and Sixth Sense end up becoming her jam then by all means we cannot compete with the majority of the crowds here. She’ll be the judge of character, not them. Plus, Texas Chainsaw will scare the Ka-Jesus outta her.

Gio Vidrio

They showed the 50's film at an all-night festival, and the LONG post-climax scene where Price and Marshall try to work out a plan to safely cover up the shenanigans by framing the lab janitor for murder went on for so long, the audience applauded when they finally worked it out. 👏😆. I'm wondering whether that was the scene the two couldn't hold it.

Eric Janssen

Loved that movie I can remember seeing it at the movies as a kid(the same year I saw another horror movie whose title began with P "Prophecy" I initially would get them confused lol) and being blown away...the Tall Man was one scary dude

Paul Johnson

I think she mentioned in a previous upload that The Omen is already scheduled for HalloBeans. And Carrie, she's made mention of it , I just hope it's the original... Let's hope for both.

litesronno1shome

I liked both the original and the recent remake of Pet Semitary.

Katie Wright

That would be interesting content.

Thomas Yanez

Silence of the Hams with Dom DeLuise is not in here? Kidding. Silence of the Lambs, Christine because I was 16 when it came out and loved cars. Candyman maybe too "deep" for people expecting a horror film. Just go with Terminator 2 and No Country For Old Men

Timothy Estrada

maybe in 2040 when she runs outta classic content she'll start a compare remake content night and do the original vs remake and give comments and if either stood the test of time. Unfortunately I know that I won't and as I said before I'm not sure of how good the Wi-Fi will be wherever I wind up.

litesronno1shome

Which version of Invasion of the Bodysnatcher

Allan Newell

When is the next unboxing?

Rickie Muth

I actually have that boxset I grew up watching those films and still have fond memories of them...in fact I saw the original film late at night on a little black and white TV(yes they actually used to have those lol) when I was like 8 or 9 and the ending gave me nightmares for weeks...watching the ending today it is kinda hilarious(the story goes that it required multiple takes because Vincent Price and Herbert Marshall couldn't stop laughing)and yet still kinda creepy and disturbing

Paul Johnson

Candyman and Hellraiser are both Clive Barker creations! Beautiful and horrifying all at once. Highly recommend. Hoping to see Ghostbusters 2 on a poll eventually!

Madeline H

Hi, Eric. Always fun to have you along for the ride. I'm not sure how just pointing out what Ashleigh herself indicated was the point of the poll warranted all that, but hey, you do you.

Thomas Yanez

George C. Scott? Hell, yeah! Let's jump right to "Firestarter" where he plays a Native American assassin manipulating a little girl. Seriously, though - he was a great actor with many great roles under his belt. This one is just such a WTF it always pops into my head when I hear his name.

Thomas Yanez

It was, and we're just telling you to get the heck over yourself, and stop indulging your keyboard fantasies that you're the more scholarly informed and therefore authoritative Grand High Poo-Bah of the group. (And I could add a few neurological theories about how that belief happened, but I won't.)

Eric Janssen

Especially since the 50's version is the one in her boxset--No. That's the one Cronenberg's 80's version tried to "fix".

Eric Janssen

I just noticed "The Fly" has no year next to it...PLEASE make sure it's the 1986 Cronenberg version....while the original has its moments the remake is 100X more horrifying

Paul Johnson

Ya gotta do The Blob (1988) it's way better than the original

INFINITE WILL

I just rewatched "The Changeling" last night...sad it's not getting any votes because it's a very well made, very well acted and very SCARY classic ghost story...c'mon folks I wouldn't steer you wrong...don't we have any George C. Scott fans out there?

Paul Johnson

If that was in response to my post immediately before yours, then know that I am not telling anybody how to vote. I am, however, suggesting that people remember that the point of the poll, as indicated by Ashleigh herself, is movies that are best watched in the dark. With the understanding that she is not very familiar with these movies, and therefore might pick some that are not appropriate for the poll/viewing experience she intended to post, maybe reconsideration of some votes might be in order.

Thomas Yanez

Andy Hafler

You disagree that a self-professed comedy and homage to the classic Romero movies is a parody, or that the viewing of this movie would be enhanced by actually having experienced some of the Romero movies first?

Thomas Yanez

Sure. But this is night-vision viewing. She's watching in the dark. We need scary stuff, not 1950's special effects.

Thomas Yanez

"Sometimes... dead is better."

Thomas Yanez

You don't just 'act out'. There are rehearsed lines and specific timing and activities that go into the experience. This isn't something she could pick up in a single viewing and then recreate for a reaction video. That is why I was saying the best option would be to just go and experience it properly, and then make a separate watch-along where she relates her experience during the rewatch.

Thomas Yanez

And the old-hermit scene. ("I was just going to make espresso!")

Eric Janssen

The idea of watching Ashleigh freak out to Hellraiser alone got a vote from me.

Eric Janssen

we'll agree to disagree.

EF3078

If you've seen Powder, though, it's sort of HARD to pay no attention to the director's crimes as he keeps indulging them onscreen.

Eric Janssen

Hmm, my post disappeared, so I'll try again. I would like to suggest that some of you reconsider your votes. The point of this poll is for movies that Ashleigh is going to watch with night-vision. The point of this exercise is that the movies should be scary, and thus enhanced by her watching them in the dark. This is actually very cool of her to do, and it is greatly appreciated. The movies selected should ones that are expected to scare her. Psychological thrillers (at least, the ones without jump scares or many high-tension moments) just aren't appropriate. Old movies that are barely more than corny now, regardless of their "classic" status, also aren't appropriate. Picking a movie like "The Sixth Sense" or the 50's black-and-white version of one of these movies is a waste of the night-vision experience and not worth the inconveniences it brings (both for Ashleigh making it, and for us watching it). That said, I would love to see her reaction to some of these movies, too - but one of the few night-vision Hallowbeans spots is not the place for it. tl/dr version : pick movies that will scare the poop out of her

Thomas Yanez

Please don’t do Jeepers Creepers. Look into the director’s crimes and pay him no mind. Thank you!

Andre

Which version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers would you be doing? Both the 50's and 70's version are excellent and each worthy of a viewing. I almost picked The Blob until I realized it was the original and not the 80's remake. The 80's version is far superior and a worthy watch for Hallowbeans. I would also like to throw in a suggestion - The Descent from 2005. I consider it almost the female version of John Carpenter's The Thing with themes of isolation, paranoia, and futility. It also has the added bonus of being especially scary if you are claustrophobic - perfect for night vision.

Cristina Collins-Armstrong

Maybe she would then understand the Bride hair-doo joke in young franenstein.

Mark Finley

And Transylvania 6-5000 for a silly one with Jeff Goldblum

Caroline Cocozza

That was a pretty good one too.

Hombredave

Not enough love for Hellraiser makes me sad.

Opti_Frog

"Of the film choices, "The Sixth Sense" and "Silence of the Lambs" are all-time Classics... And "The Blob (1958)" is a different Alien From Space film that I think "holds-up" even under "Hallo-Beans" Scrutiny...

James Falato

The Omen needs to be on the list as well. Classic. Rear Window by Alfred Hitchcock, not scary but suspense.

Brandie Woodward

Everyone’s going HAM on this poll. Best poll yet, however, a couple good names are still missing like Carrie & The Omen. Unless those are taken cared of by top tier patrons. Either way, Hallobeans is about to be WELL LIT! 🔥 Well dark in this case cause of night vision! Woooo!

Gio Vidrio

A few other reactors have worked their way down to doing it, and this is the year Halloween 3 gets rediscovered--It's not about what H3 HASN'T got...

Eric Janssen

This would be a waste of a night-vision viewing, since it is more of a spoof than anything. Much better for the non scary part of Hallobeans, because it is still a fun watch. That said, though, I think she needs more of the Romero movies under her belt first, otherwise what is the point of parody?

Thomas Yanez

Twice I posted: "Would anyone be up for a FrankenBeans Night DoubleHeader? (1931) & The Bride of Frankenstein (1935) (it would help explain all the references in Young Frankenstein)" but there was no response, (if you watch Frankenstein (70 min.), you really should watch The Bride (74 min.)) (Guaranteed better than a mad, mad, mad, shitty world)

litesronno1shome

Maybe for regular viewing, because that would have no place in the night-vision viewing.

Thomas Yanez

The Blob (which I assume somebody asked because they wanted the 1988 remake) is okay, but pretty weak even for 50's drive-in. OTOH, looking at the Ash's-collection reference sheet, I see Invasion of the Body Snatchers is the 1978 remake, and lord, that's creepy. The Sixth Sense, The Fog and Rosemary’s Baby are pure creepouts, and I’m only voting for them because I thought we already did Silence of the Lambs (everyone else has).

Eric Janssen

Agreed. Both of those movies would be wonderful for reactions. And both of those movies are a waste of night-vision viewing spots. Well, technically, there are a couple of spots of "The Silence of the Lambs" that would work for night-vision, but for the most part it's just a thriller.

Thomas Yanez

she needs those chicken shit jump scares for night vision viewing

litesronno1shome

aw no return of the living dead? and remake of the blob is way better.

EF3078

@Bobby Bates Beause this is for a night-vision viewing, which means it's supposed to be something potentially scary. The original does not qualify.

Thomas Yanez

@Lisa Nygaard while I agree that the original "Blob" has its merits, since this vote is for a night-vision viewing, the remake would be more appropriate as it actually has the potential to be a scary movie, which is the point.

Thomas Yanez

The fact that she is posting this as night-vision viewing specific, kind of overrides "classic" to me. The point of night vision viewing is the scarier the better. If the movies aren't scary, then the night-vision is just an inconvenience to everybody involved.

Thomas Yanez

If she could possibly do a in theater reaction I truly think she would actually break YouTube! Trying to film the full experience though with Blake I think would be hard and distracting. I would love to see her do in theater reaction video by herself and soon after an at home rewatch with Blake and special appearance by MOM,,, Ashleigh could dress up and act out as if in the theater.... And you think Beans has a confused look on her face now????

litesronno1shome

If we're talking about night vision viewings, it has to be the remakes. The old versions would be pointless in this scenario.

Thomas Yanez

Trying to watch this movie as a reaction video is dumb. That is not how you experience this movie. It is a truly awful movie if you just watch it as a movie. The whole point is that you watch it with a crowd that is experienced with the movie and knows the interaction. I fully support the idea of her finding a local theater with midnight viewings and a crew that knows what they're doing and THEN creating a separate watch-along video where she relates the experience she had watching it properly. But, just watching it as a regular movie is a mistake.

Thomas Yanez

The original Dracula with Bela Luguosi

Rickie Muth

Nope, it is not.

Thomas Yanez

I'd sooner see Legion (2010) on this list than many that are on there. At least for a night vision type.

litesronno1shome

Rocky Horror is only good in groups that have seen it a bunch of times.

Bill Staley

wow I wish Creepshow was on there. from 1982. Highly recommend!!!!!!!!

stephen phillips

Absolutely a great movie that I want her to see but is it really a Night Vision type movie??

litesronno1shome

Phantasm needs more love here. Its got The Tall Man, The Ice Cream Man, A cool Plymouth Hemi-Cuda and several other things I won't ruin here.

Mark Sylvester

Which Alone in the Dark? There's like 87 of them. Hahaha

Stevilicious

I have a write in...need to do April fool's day (1986)...good for in the dark. Yes it's horror.

MJFoxfan

Rosemary's Baby is not at the top of the list, which jars my faith in humanity a little.

Michael Buhl

I liked body snatchers (1993).

MJFoxfan

No on Halloween 3! If it ain’t got Michael Myers,it ain’t Halloween.

Richard Stegman Jr.

Oh I thought wrong sorry Ashleigh!😊 I wish there was a stuck your foot in your mouth emoji.

Mark Sylvester

I voted for the Sixth Sense because I think the concept is interesting. Other than that I am not a good one to ask. I do not like "scary" movies. Not because they are scary but because they are not. Nothing in a movie really scares me since I know it is not real and I think most of them are just boring. I think the psychological thrillers are scarier because they can really happen.

Bruce Miller

Halloween 3 Season of the witch and babadook should be added

Mr Marvelous

Yes!

Ashleigh Burton

No it's not!

Ashleigh Burton

Vote for all that you want to see!

Ashleigh Burton

Yes! Sorry - it would be the '78 version

Ashleigh Burton

I prefer the original Blob with a “teenage” Steve McQueen. The theme song is awesome.

Lisa Nygaard

Dr. Phibes is one of my favorites.

Lisa Nygaard

I will seriously second this suggestion.

Bill Bevins

Like elvira, Adam's family, monster squad, frighteners, she did movies like that last Halloween

ingibingi2000

The Pit and The Pendulum, House of Wax, The Witchfinder General and The Abominable Dr Phibes are all classic horror movies that should be checked out. Vincent Price is so cool he could take a movie with a ridiculous premise like The Tingler and make it work.

Bill Bevins

Honestly I prefer the the 1988 version of 'The Blob' to the 1958 version. On the flipside of that I liked the original version of 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' (1956) compared to the 1978 version. Too bad 'The Craft' didn't make the cut, it's pure 90's. I'm excited to see which ones you have in store for the lighter side of things? Will we get 'Sleepy Hollow'? 'The Ghost and Mr. Chicken"? 'Ernest Scared Stupid'? I can't wait.

Hombredave

You're not the only one. I didn't see any reason to watch Sixth Sense again after I saw it once. It doesn't really fit in with this poll.

Joe Blankenship

Like what abbot and Cosetello meet the _____ monster

Leigh Nathaniel Silver

I can't stand "The Sixth Sense." I have my reasons. I prefer "Signs," another M. Night Shamalayn movie. Hell, Mom and I just watched it yesterday afternoon. It's more of a sci-fi thriller but it's so good and completely underrated!!! By the way the, which version of "The Blob" is it? Is it from the 1950's with Steve McQueen because I really like that one! "Jeepers Creepers" is just begging to be watched in night vision!

Kate Luxor

Some good ones in there.. Mr.Frost with jeff Goldblum is also a creepy pick if you can squeeze it in.

Philip Hinkle

I heard they just threw it together to take advantage of the film rights before they expired so I didn't give it much interest.

Mark Sylvester

There are some classic choices though. Saw Pet Sematary when I was 4, don’t ask lol. But the scenes with Zelda are still some of the creepiest I’ve ever seen. Christine has a soft spot in my heart though as a fan of both Stephen King and John Carpenter it hits the sweet spot.

Edward Zurawski

And the fact that Train To Busan isn't getting enough mentions is PROOF that not enough people have seen it which is a tragedy in itself. Best zombie film ever made imo

PieHard13

We may be demented Kristopher but I want to see her reaction to that also.

Mark Sylvester

I strongly disagree especially with the going in fresh and not knowing what the film is about

ingibingi2000

Lol alone in the dark has no votes so far, makes sense that is definitely the weak link on this list

Edward Zurawski

I'd even put the Texas Chainsaw remake above the original

PieHard13

Days is good but Weeks is better.

PieHard13

Me. It's not a patch on the original but Lithgow is always worth a watch and the ending is VERY grim

PieHard13

NO!!! Richard is right don't eat anything and you won't be able to for a while after. Just make it a fasting day!!😁

Mark Sylvester

Okay, that would have been a lot of fun! :)

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

Horror movies were never really my thing, so I can't help here.

Mark Lee

Who actually saw the 2019 version??

Mark Sylvester

I'm serious here. Tod Browning's "Freaks"

Wesley Eskildsen

Also I do hope you get her to do Train To Busan. I resisted watching it because I was like another Zombie movie and with subtitles. But I finally watch it on The Last Drive In on Shudder and it is Awesome and a very emotional movie.

Mark Sylvester

A lot of cool choices there.

iamrman82

Sixth Sense and Silence of the Lambs are polling well. And for good reason. I would absolutely suggest you watch those…but I agree with what a couple people have said, they are more psychological. Again, EXCELLENT psychological movies, definitely watch them! But they wouldn’t HAVE to be watched during HallowBeans. Just because HallowBeans has a finite number of spots, and you have so many true horror ones to choose from, I would watch those later.

Heather Qualy

I agree both The Fly and The Blob should be the remakes.

Mark Sylvester

I did the poll, but it did well and with a super list like this thought it stood a chance to make this cut

ingibingi2000

Is that what you will be picking this month???🤔😉😆

Mark Sylvester

Why not the original?

Bobby Bates

Definitely the original Pet Sematary. Fred Gwynn is so good.

Thomas Ivie

I mentioned to her the other day thar Green mile is also Stephen King.. Still hopeful she watches it soon

Mark Finley

I LOVE that movie. Sadly, NOBODY knows, or talks about it.

Brandon Royce

Yeah, I think so too :( Some of the effects in the 1988 version are absolutely fucking phenomenal!

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

Anyone see the hellraiser episode of Rick and Morty?

ingibingi2000

And those two are already ahead in the polls. Go figure.

Mark Sylvester

Good point.

Mark Finley

Is there going to be a silly Halloween movies list too?

ingibingi2000

1, 2, Freddy's coming for you.... oh wait, not this year he ain't.

Joe Blankenship

Not positive but I think Ashleigh had said Amityville Horror was going to be a MMM pick.

Mark Sylvester

The 1986 version of "The Fly" with Jeff Goldblum

TheNeonRabbit

Agree it should be the remake. If we get a Steve McQueen reaction it should be Bullitt!

Mark Sylvester

OH MAN. I can't believe I didn't think to recommend this one - KILLER KLOWNZ FROM OUTER SPACE.

Rue

Solid choices, so many to choose from. But still missed a few big time classics 1979’s Amityville Horror, 1984’s Children Of The Corn (with Linda Hamilton from Terminator), and the original Night of the Living Dead.

Heather Qualy

You put the wrong The Blob on the list! You need the 1988 one.

BMan

Love Silence of the Lambs, but couldn't bring myself to vote it up for Hallobeans. It's very much an intense psychological thriller, but doesn't have the horror vibes that make it a fit for a Halloween-y movie. YMMV though. Had a similar feeling for The Sixth Sense, just not a Halloween-y enough vibe for a Hallobeans episode, but again, just my opinion. I'll still watch whatever winds up getting picked which, at the moment, seems to be including both theses movies.

William Shipley

Or go all in and have a gooey plate of cheesy nachos.

Vedexent

Mr. Brooks

Vincent

Awe 28 days later didn't make this list

ingibingi2000

The Fly, I hope it's the 1986 one you're doing. I also think The Blob remake from 1988 is the one you SHOULD be watching. No Train To Busan AGAIN !?!

PieHard13

Production values aside ( they're a bit dated ), the storytelling is amazing, and the mythology/world building is fascinating in the way cobras are supposed to be.

Vedexent

Good choices.

Bill Bevins

Lots of good choices on this list, but I hammered Silence Of The Lambs immediately. Just an all-time great movie with brilliant performances that stick with you.

Mack

The original The Fly had Vincent Price, though. I love anything with Vincent Price.

Lisa Nygaard

I second this.

Adolfo Acosta

I would MUCH rather you watch the 1989 Pet Sematary than the 2019 version!!!!! Cat’s Eye is really good and SOOO under appreciated!

Crystal Wood

For the record there are several Invasion of the Body Snatchers. the 1956 and 1978 are both great, but for your tastes, I might recommend the 1978 one.

Adolfo Acosta

I think she should see that one with Blake, it’s good for group viewings. :)

Cal

The 78 version has Leonard Nimoy AND Jeff Goldblum in it, why would you ever turn down the opportunity to watch that!

Amstrad

3 of these movies are based on Stephen King books/novelas. Cat's Eye, Pet Sematary and Christine. And all 3 deserve a watch this Hallobeans!

Thomas Ivie

Hmm - if the general idea is "Ashleigh hasn't seen the classic movies, so what are the classics?" suggestions, then I think the *most* classic ones in this list ( YMMV ) are: The Blob, The Fly ( which version, btw? ), Hellraiser, and The Sixth Sense. Others on this list are also good movies ( in fact might be better movies than some of the "classics" ), but I think that list stands as "core, classic horror movies" from this list.

Vedexent

God yes... Christine. Please please please

Mark Finley

I wasn't going to vote for TCM but I think it's one of those horror staples that you should experience.

Kristopher Wood

The Fly: '86. Invasion: '78

Ashleigh Burton

I'm trying to make this work.

Ashleigh Burton

How can you do Halloween without pinhead!? Hellraiser all the way!😁

Aubrey Lineberry

HELL YEAH

Ashleigh Burton

Clarification it would be the 1978 version!

Ashleigh Burton

I voted for all I want to see, I would love for you to watch Jeepers Creepers, which is a really good scary movie, and though the director is problematic, I don't think the other actors and people who worked on the movie should also be punished.

Susan AKA Maisy13(YT) AKA Susan_is_still_in_progress (threads,IG)

Maybe that’s a light hearted viewing.

Jason Nunez

If there were an option to vote for the 1978 version, I would do so :) *ducks shoes being thrown*

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

For The Fly and Invasion of the Body Snatchers you need to specify which version. Both the originals and the remakes are excellent movies. I think for channel the remakes would be better but the originals are definitely worth watching. Would love to see The Others added to the list.

Bill Bevins

I second this idea!

Carl Sage

You really should see Rocky Horror Picture Show during HalloBeans!

Michael Waldrep

I caught your channel in November so all the Hallobeans for last year were uploaded. This is the first year I get to experience them as they come out and I’m damned excited!

Jose Rivera

Clarification please: I am presuming that the 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' listed is the one from the 1950's? In black and white? Or are you talking about one of the newer versions? Curious fan is curious.

Carl Sage

If you’re going to watch The Fly(1986 remake),don’t eat anything beforehand.

Richard Stegman Jr.

Silence of the Lambs!

Ullatec

The Sixth Sense really is one of the best movies ever made. You will thank me for this one. Plus it stars Bruce Willis and Haley Joel Osman (Forrest Jr. In Forrest Gump)
